That's spooky...I thought about posting this as a fluff post earlier today I would choose Cerys (pronounced Ke'-riss, equal emphasis) which is Welsh, and Freya which coincidentally, our DD and her fiancé have chosen for their baby due in August There's another but it escapes me at the moment A boy would be called Luca or Jude. I still love my DDs names though 😊 I saw it somewhere on social media yesterday and thought the same thing.

Same, but for Maggie. She does NOT like being called Margaret when a new teacher/professor calls roll. Maggie suits her perfectly, though. So is her name actually Margaret? Or are teachers making the assumption when they see Maggie on the roll, that it must be short for Margaret? I really like the name Maggie. One of my friends from my teenage years named his daughter Maggie Mae, and I thought it was such a cool name. I *think* Mae is the middle name, and not part of a hyphenated first name. Her name is Margaret Anne. I felt like she needed to have a "grownup" full name because she wouldn't be a little girl forever.

Last year I named our little dog Ingrid. I love her name so much I sometimes think I should have used that name for one of my daughters.

I agree about the initial X. That is pretty cool. Xavier or Xander would work for that. I like the coolness. Before I read your reply, I was going with Luca or Luka. Girl names might be Chloe, Rory, Kinsley, Zoey. I worked with a Guy once of Greek heritage and his initials were XX also he was a doctor……so Dr X He was teased a lot - all in good fun

I really like the names of my kids - Jill and Luke. My other boy names would not work well with Jill - Jack and William (Jill) - but I still love them both. My other girl name was Shelby Catherine. I still like that one. After reading this thread, I do also love Rory for a girl as well as Rose.

All the trainers had their initials on their matchday shirts, so his read XZ. I wanted him to have a middle name like Yves or Yannik, because that would have been really something!

We both also like Sadie, although one of DD's friends used that name, so there's no way she could use it, more's the pity. Don't rule it out My younger DD is the same name as a friend's DD (although not a super close friend). I liked it so much and I mentioned it to her when DD was born and she laughed and said she wasn't worried so neither should I be. We rarely see each other these days and I'm glad we went with what we loved. We weren't in each others circles enough for it to be a 'thing' and even if you are, situations often change and we rarely see each other these days

I have enough trouble picking pet names, I think I’d really struggle naming a child now.
I used to have favourite names but don’t think I do now. I do like Malachi or Caleb for boys and Olivia and Kenzie for girls. I love Irish names and old names like Eleanor.

I would use the names I used: Emily, Andrew & Grace. If I would have had a 2nd son, his name would have been Henry so I just recently used that for my rescue dog. (My 16.5 year old dog before this was Sadie and it was a name I entertained for Emily, but did not use).

I always wanted Christine or Clara (rhymes with carer, not Lara) with Eve as a second name for a girl, and David for a boy. But my DH's names stopped that happening. Didn't matter, we never had children.

Couldn’t say, names are very person specific. I could make a final decision my kids until the were born. There’s something about seeing them that solidifies a name.

The girl name I did not get to use since I did not have a girl, is Catherine Grace. Still love that name and would use it now. I have loved both of those names since I was a child. I must have seen them in books because I don’t remember classmates with either name.

I think I would name our DDs their names again (Jenna and Lauren). I have always liked the name Leanna, but couldn't get DH to agree to it when we were having our second DD. Her name fits her better, but I do still like the name. I recently heard Bodie (Bo-dee) for a boy and I know I would not have considered it then but I definitely would now.

My son is only 3 so we would have still stuck with his name. We didn’t find out the sex when I was pregnant so we had a boy and a girl name picked, I would have changed the girl name.

It took a lot to decide on the name we did, so I would still use it again. I love classic, short, traditional names that are easy to say and easy to spell and that don’t have a million duplicate letters. One of my nieces’s kids has a name that has four L’s four A’s, two T’s and two E’s. Way to burn up a new sticker sheet making that kid a scrapbook page, LOL.

I would choose my son's name again, Cole. It's become more popular in the past few years but when he was born, it wasn't very common. I got it from the tv show Martin back in the early 90s.

DH was too opinionated with the kid naming process… I use my unused names for novel characters.
I liked Caleb and Colin but our first two kids were girls…
I liked Sadie (now my nieces name) for a girl and Rowan for a boy at one point. Some celebrity named their daughter Rowan and I didn’t want DS to have a name that “turned” into a girl name. I don’t know a single Rowan, I should have used it…

Our kids are still youngish, so we'd choose names to go with them.
Maximus Briseis Freya Linus
Ares and Charis were on our short lists so we'd likely go with one of those.

Interesting question. I'm OK with the names we picked. I have a Lillian Claire. She goes by Claire so I probably should have found a middle name for that. I would have found a better nickname for my son who is the third. His nickname makes him sound like a racecar driver. My other daughter's name is Kelly and it suits her but there were 2 Kellys, a Kellie, Katelyn, Kaylee, Caitlin, etc. in her class. At her birthday party there was only one girl out of eight whose name didn't start with a K/C sound. I might have done that differently. DS, who is unlikely to have kids of his own, says that if he ever did have a son, he’d name him Xavier, because X is a cool initial! Elon Musk has a child named X. But I would lean traditional, as I always have, and not give them a "tragedeigh" name. (Ever read that reddit?) That Reddit is hilarious.

My first 2 would remain the same. The ODS is a IV. That was sort of non-negotiable. DD is the name I always and always had picked out for a girl. YDS would the be the only change. I would name him after my grandmother and use her middle name, Bennett. Her full name is a very masculine name, William Bennett, and I always liked Bennett.

DD is Lia Grace and I wouldn't change it. We love it and she's happy with it. There were other names that I really liked but dh didn't and we agreed on this and are happy with our decision. We do usually call her Grace/Gracie but only us, her one uncle and boyfriend are allowed to do this. If anyone else tries it she tells them not to!
We were glad she was a girl as a) that was what we had hoped for and b) we couldn't come up with any boy names that we loved.
ETA one of my grandmothers was named Margaret and she died when I was eleven. I kind of wanted to call a daughter Margot in honor but dh hated that name. But as dd's name is perfect for her, I'm not upset.

I still really like the names we gave DS and DD, but if i were to have another DD (medically impossible!!) I love the name Mila for a girl. Wracking my brain for a boys name... nothing jumping out at me.

I love my kids names - our daughter's name is unique without being really off the wall or a "tragedeigh". our son came along as a surprise 7 years later and we just went with the name we'd picked if #1 had been a boy.
I will forever be sad I didnt' get to use our girl name the 2nd time around - Ainsley Jane......

The boys' name I never got to use was August, and the girls' name was Juniper; I ended up giving those names to my cats, so now I'd be kind of stumped . I also love Cordelia, but that was the one name my husband actually put his foot down about.

I definitely would use the same name for my son. His name is Dalton after Patrick swayzee in Roadhouse. I definitely would change my daughter's name but I don't know to what.

X’. DS, who is unlikely to have kids of his own, says that if he ever did have a son, he’d name him Xavier, because X is a cool initial! I know a couple who named their baby boy this; on the birth announcements, released around the holidays, they wrote, "On this day Xavier is born."
