I’m so glad it’s not shingles! I don’t know much about cellulitis but obviously it’s painful. Hope you have a quick recovery!

cmpeter glad it's not shingles but UGH on cellulitis. Hope it's better soon. Neither are fun to have! AND get that shingles vaccine if you can!

Wow on the update! I've not had experience with Cellulitis but I haven't heard good things about it either. Hope you are on the mend soon!

Oh my. I hate to see your update. Cellulitis can be problematic too. Bless your heart. I hope this diagnosis is accurate and your doctor can get it cleared up soon.

I was diagnosed this morning. Actually urgent care because I couldn’t figure out why the left half of my head hurt to touch. I think they thought it might have been a stroke and they sent me to the ER. JOY. I’m on the anti virals and am seeing an ophthalmologist this afternoon (I can see a rash developing on my eyelid). Would love to hear any tips you have for managing this and the pain I’m sure is right around the corner. So far it’s just the left side of my heard/forehead and eyelid that are affected. UPDATE My primary doctor said it’s not shingles. She took a swab, but believes it’s actually cellulitis. So for now I’m taking both the anti-viral and an antibiotic. I hope the antibiotics will clear it up, and quickly. It sounds like you caught it really early which is terrific. I got the infection after sampling a foundation tester - and believe me, I have never ever tested any sort of makeup. I buy first and then try it. TMI warning: I once had an extreme case requiring prednisone and antibiotics. It was a horribly angry, yellow puss oozing mess on half of my face. I remember hosting a Christmas ornament exchange party during the worst of it.

Last night I was feeling half decent and thought the antibiotics must be working. I was envisioning going back to work at last for the morning today.
But I woke up with my left eye swollen shut. I did have a follow up with the eye dr…he said it looks like shingles to him. So now who knows what it is. I’m taking meds for both. The good thing is that my eye while physically looking horrific, is doing ok for now.

Was finally back at work yesterday. Only a partial day as I had appointments with both my primary care dr and the ophthalmologist.
It’s definitely shingles and in my eye. The ophthalmologist took a photo of my left eye and you can see where it is…looks like two sets of tree branches, super gross.
But, the good news is that I’m feeling a little better each day now.

Thankfully the ER gave you antivirals, they are time sensitive. You might let your primary know or find a new one. Good that you are feeling better. Please take care!!
