We didn’t start the fire. Hated that song already and then DS28’s 8th grade English teacher had the brilliant idea to have each of the kids do a report on a lyric. While his poster turned out really cool, I really wanted to shoot the radio.
Last Christmas. I turn the radio off sooooo fast!!!
All I want for Christmas. But really any Mariah Carey song. Can’t stand her voice.

Can’t stand her voice. I did that assignment one year. It had to be something from the song or the movie National Treasure. I do not like most songs by Mariah Carey, Adele, Celine Dion, or Whitney Houston or any singer like that (I think Josh Groban and Buble might qualify too, but I don't know enough)

I really dislike Groove is in the Heart by DeeLite.
And since we're all mentioning Christmas songs, I'm going to throw in Happy Xmas (War is Over) by John Lennon, which is way too overplayed and now drives me crazy.

Red Ragtop by Tim McGraw makes me irrationally angry. No idea why.

I despise twangy country music. There I said it. Can "y'all" even tell the artists apart?
I'm also irrationally p*$$ed about "Ironic" by Alanis Morrissette. An entire generation doesn't understand the meaning of irony because of that song. Apparently, nobody in her production team did either. The examples in the song are unfortunate, coincidental, a huge bummer, but not ironic. She has an excuse, but it's weak.
I actually don't like any of her music and I would puncture my eardrums if I had to sit through the Broadway show based on it, but Ironic is the worst followed closely by "Hand in My Pocket."

I absolutely hate More than Words by Extreme, such a creepy 'if you loved me you'd let me' song. I don't understand how anyone thinks it's romantic. So funny. I actually sought that song out to listen to yesterday. I have never looked at it as a trying to get someone to sleep with you song. I have always looked at it as your words mean nothing if you don’t show me that you love me in your actions. I know the one line is about reach out and touch me, but I still didn’t take that as about sex. I took it as someone’s love language is physical touch and not words. Funny how people hear a song differently!

Beyonce’s “Single Ladies”. That screechy squealy background noise is like nails on a chalkboard for me. I HATE it so much.
I know there are others but this one came to mind immediately.

I too hate the twang. And I agree with you about Alanis in general, but she's also done one of my very favorite songs ever, "Uninvited" from the City of Angels soundtrack. And she played God in Dogma, so she weighs out evenly for me.

A Horse with No Name by America. Have never liked that song. I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas. That song just sets my nerves on edge as soon as it comes on. So stupid! On the other hand, I think Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer is funny. Go figure! You may hate the song, but you really should watch the documentary about it - The Greatest Night in Pop - on Netflix. Very interesting!

The ones that get me to change the channel immediately are Hey Ya, The Christmas Shoes, Wonderful Christmastime and any song that has been remixed with other spoken words/ names/ whatever that never occurred in the original track. I can’t stand a lot of the twangy country singers (especially the males) that populate DH’s playlist. 🤮 And there are a lot of them. Lately I’m hating the Luke Combs version of Fast Car that is played endlessly even on the pop and alternative channels I listen to, and everything by Jellyroll. Also, sorry Swifties, I’m really over the fact that my formerly favorite radio station has been playing all Taylor, all the time for months now. I can tolerate her in moderation but not literally every half hour.

I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas. This is one of my favourite Christmas songs! It's particularly nostalgic as it was on a record I used to listen to a kid, but I still love it even now, although I prefer the version from my childhood over all others.

Roxanne. HATE IT WITH A PASSION. There are others, but this in number one by far. Yeah….me too. For obvious reasons. Ugh. And I would have adults sing it to me when I was a kid. Ummm…no.
