It's almost the 4th of July....how are you celebrating (if you are American)? Do you have any great recipes you want to share? Tips, tricks? We are hosting friends over, so we will get up and go to the Farmers Market early that morning, then come home and lay by the pool/tv all day, eating. Not sure what the food plans are yet, but I assume it'll involved the grill/blackstone and alcohol. I have ordered a charcuterie board to snack on, and I am wanting to make these brownie bites and probably some rice Krispy treats for any kiddos that show up to swim. So whats your plans? Have a great recipe we need to try? |

We will be going to the theater to see Despicable Me 4 and have turkey burgers, baked beans, pasta salad and potato salad. Then we will sit on our back patio deck and watch various firework shows. We can see 3 stadium shows and 1 city show that are out west.
We were going to go to the local Single A baseball stadium for the game and show but want to be home with Hope. Loud noises scare her and we want to make sure she has us at home for comfort.
But we will be going to following week for another game and fireworks show.

Staying home in the lovely air conditioning and watching the fireworks in DC on our TV. There is a bridge not far from me that we can walk to and from which we can see the fireworks. But honestly, I don't even want to do that in the heat.  |

I am working 15:35 - 00:00.
My town’s fireworks are not too far from me but because of trees I can really only see the high ones. However, I will try to sneak outside for a few minutes to see some as long as there are no issues going on at work.
No special food, although I will be coming home from our camp that day so hoping that some leftovers will also be coming with me and I won’t have to think about cooking or what I can grab.
I hope all enjoy the 4th holiday…or happy voting. 😄

We booked an impromptu trip to New Orleans a couple of weeks ago and a dinner cruise to see the fireworks.
We convinced DD to come over and dog sit. Our city's celebration is at a park right behind our house and you can see the fireworks from our pool, so not a bad way to spend the holiday. I told her to invite friends if she wanted.

We have our local fireworks over the lake tonight. I got up and snagged the last parking spot in a "nearby" (1.3mi away) parking lot (there's a lake trailhead) right by where they will be launching them off. I'll take DH and the kids over around 8 for them to set up the chairs and get the snacks out while I drive home and park and walk back over (will take me about 25 min b/c it's hilly) and then we'll drive my car back home after it's done.
On the actual 4th I plan on hiding out in the AC (supposed to be hell temps for the first 12 days of July) during the day and walking down to the court below us with the kids to share our fireworks with the families there who will light them off in the middle of the street. Hopefully it's not devils butthole hot at 9pm.

We are off this week and have 3/4 of our birthdays all this week, so lots of cake and ice cream lol 😆 We are spending the week at our lake house. Friends are coming up for the 4th, we will cook out, hang out lakeside playing cornhole and other games, then go out on the boat to watch fireworks from the middle of the lake. One of my favorite traditions ☺️❤️💙

no real plans here afaik - DD17 will grill burgers and sausages for dinner but that's about it. It's supposed to be HOT, HUMID, with afternoon thunderstorms -indoor weather in my opinion

Not sure what we’re doing on the fourth probably not much other than I’ll be my mom clean the pool, etc. but on the fifth we’re going to my brothers house. Both of his children and his grandchildren will be there and my other brother and his wife and their daughter. First time we’ve been together since, probably at least two years ago

Those brownie bites look good, and so easy if you buy the brownies.
Our plans are fairly simple but traditional. The fire department hosts a pancake breakfast, then we’ll go to the parade. At home later we will grill burgers with all the sides. Some people will go watch fireworks but I’m probably going to stay in to keep the pets company.
We don’t often have nice weather on the 4th but it’s looking like it’ll be a good day.

We don't really do anything special for the 4th. There are usually fireworks close enough that I can watch from my driveway. It's been really dry here but there is rain in the forecast for tomorrow. I hope it comes. Sometimes they ban fireworks if it is really dry.
When I was growing up, we always took our family vacation the 4th week. All the factories closed and my parents closed their business for that week. I swore when I grew up I would not go on vacation that week and fight the crowds.

We debated going to our place in Port A but decided against it as it will be crazy crowded. We would rather go down in a few weeks. The summer crowds are bad enough. So we'll stay home and spend the day in the pool and throw something on the grill. Our town has fireworks over the lake but I doubt we will go. It's always crowded and super hot. The older we get, we would rather just stay home in the ac.

Absolutely no plans!
I am off work from Thursday until Tuesday and really need to do some work in my basement…purging/ sorting/organizing. DS will help me, I just need to muster up the energy.
