So I have been reading here for ever it seems and things get mentioned that I have no experience with. For example, I have never had curry. I live in a small town with no real restaurants other than a couple of family owned diner or bar food type establishments. I haven’t attempted to make curry as I have no idea where to start.
I also have limited experience with things like Door Dash or Uber. Doesn’t exist in my neck of the (literal) woods.
On the other hand I could walk out the door any evening and most likely see deer, eagles and often bear out looking for dinner.
What are some things you haven’t experienced that many Peas find quite normal?

An actual vacation. You know the kind, you take a week off work and get on a plane and go explore some place far away that's beautiful. Yeah, the farthest I ever get is like a 3 hour drive for 2 days.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwich Iced tea Uber eats etc, too far from town to have a food delivery to the door. Maple syrup Judy26, if you have a slow cooker you can make good curries, I've just served up a chicken curry with rice and peas for tea.

Curry Squid Octopus Squirrel Where is squirrel common to eat? Seriously asking. I have eaten lots of things others would find unusual but squirrel strikes me as very unusual.

What are some things you haven’t experienced that many Peas find quite normal? I've never used Uber or Door Dash. And I dislike anything remotely spicy, so I've tried very few curries. But the absolute huge one is that I have never owned a smart phone of my own. DH bought one that lives in the car--and even that's just a few years old, because we kept a flip phone in the car for ages until we could no longer get service for it, LOL! But I have never wanted to carry a cell phone of any sort around with me all of the time since they first became a thing. (Well, in all fairness, my first cell phone was like a brick--no one would want to carry that thing around! It was practically the size of a normal cordless phone!) But despite the convenience of carrying around the internet, and the fact that so many places want you to use apps, now, I still do not carry a phone around with me.

I've also never had a beverage from Starbuck's. Some baked goods when we stopped by a rest stop on a turnpike while travelling, but never a drink of any sort.

Any type of food delivery service - other than pizza nearly 40 years ago when I lived in 'town.' Uber Concerts Child rearing or child care in general. I've never baby sat. I have a little experience with teenagers and adult children. Starbucks Problems with neighbors (knocking on wood that continues to be my good fortune.)

I have never been skiing despite living less than an hour from places to do so. Both times I was supposed to go in high school were canceled and now I have a bad back so it's probably not a good idea...
I've never been to a bar. I've been in places that have one, like Applebee's but not a bar bar.
I went to Canada when I was 11, for about 24 hours, otherwise I have not been out of the US.
I have never ordered room service at a hotel.
ETA: no illegal drugs or pot and no tattoos.

I have never eaten salmon in any form ~ fresh, canned or smoked.
I have never used Door Dash or Uber Eats and I live in an urban setting.

I have never used a food delivery service. I have never used Uber or Lyft, and have only used an actual Taxi service a very few times. I have not seen or watched any recent TV series on anything other than a regular cable station, so if it is a show on a streaming service I have not seen even an episode of it.

Curry, but in the States, I think it is pretty commom not to have tried curries. Much more common for our Aussie and Brit friends.
I have tried Indian food, once, long ago. I think we probably had Tandoori chicken.

Never had a manicure/pedicure. Never had many of the tv streaming services like Hulu, HBO, etc. So we’ve missed out on a lot of popular shows. Never had game meat. The closest was duck. Never shot a real gun, but wouldn’t mind learning. Never did online grocery ordering/pickup. Never watched RHOanywhere or any of the bachelor(ette) shows.

I think we probably had Tandoori chicken. I disagree. Curry (Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, or otherwise) is super common in larger cities here in the US. Heck, we had at least one Indian restaurant in Omaha in the 80s. I’ve also been able to buy the ingredients to make a good curry in our grocery stores for at least three decades.

I agree, i can’t think of a city I have been in that hasn’t had curry places. I would think only rural places wouldn’t have curry available, and even that would surprise me. I think here places that serve curry probably outnumber other types of food, just because of the numerous types of restaurants that serve it. Most of our Chinese restaurants have some curry dishes.

Lot of grocery stores here sell the Japanese boxed curry cubes. There is even a curry restaurant (or there was) that serves curry from all over the world.

I think we probably had Tandoori chicken. You’ve had tandoori chicken? Then yes, you’ve had a curry. Even if it wasn’t tandoori, if it was a similar type of dish - tikka masala, korma, vindaloo, rogan josh, saag ……. all are curries. A curry is basically just a sauce with meat in it (and/or vegetables) and a heap of herbs and spices. They can be spicy hot, but do not have to be, many do not have any pepper- or chilli-type spices in them.

I think the difference is that in england, australia, etc. curry is like the local fish and chips place.. every little place has one.. or the local chinese or fish and chips place has curry dishes.
in the states, it is certainly available in most cities, but not all towns. our cheap food other than diners tend to be mexican.. so you can get tacos/burritos most everywhere (excepting maybe new england). so the go to after the mcdonalds, etc is mexican.
I learned to love malaysian and indian food when I lived in hong kong.. that was the local cheaper food other than chinese.. here in western us, I would eat mexican.. and curry is harder to find. I tend not to eat chinese food outside the bay area as it is so americanized I don't recognize it.
