Shakti - yay for a prospective offer- I hope when the details get firmed out and the offer is more formal, that this ends up as a good opportunity for you. It's been a super rough year work-wise, I know. The troll trail sounds awesome - what part of Rhode Island? I spent my teens in Newport

Thank you, Linda. The first two RI trolls are in Charlestown -- Ninigret Park. Quonochontaug East Beach was my family's go-to day trip beach, so it was fun being back there. At the little market we went to the other couple struck up a conversation about the trolls and learned that in Newport (seems like specifically the Breakers, according to DH's subsequent internet research) there's an installation of life-size wooden elephant sculptures, so the four of us might try that next.

Sending positive vibes to you for your impending job discussions, Shakti. Sounds like a wonderful weekend to cap off a not-so-wonderful week, too. Did you take any photos of the Trolls? Are you recovered from you online crop weekend, Linda? Was this an SG event? I see some other people had crafting time this weekend as well, including @christinec papercrafting, Scrapper100 card making and joblackford crocheting. Anyone else? While my niece was here making cards yesterday, I constructed 8 cards, seven of which I have shared. Also working with a couple of kits. With the supplies I have left in the stadium I set up for yesterday, there should be enough materials for at least a dozen more cards. Now I have to decide if I leave that stuff in there for a quick start to another cardmaking session, or stow it all away knowing I won't soon be getting back to it. Which brings me to the QOTD: What is your best time to craft: weekends or week days? Why? My most productive time is week day mornings, especially when I have set things up the night before so I have started quickly. Weekends are often unpredictable, with people coming and going, different plans. And I have the luxury of having a choice of what I do week day mornings, unlike many of you who are heading off to work about the time I step up to my scrap counter.

My answer to the QOTD would be mornings -- I am definitely a more "morning-brained" person. In my typical life while gainfully employed, I don't craft during the week much, mostly not at all. My home office and my craft room are one and the same, so it's important to stow the crafting accoutrements out of the way Sunday evening to lead myself not into temptation. My weekend MO is "craft in the morning; adult in the afternoon;" sort of a time-management mullet or something, I suppose. There's typically also self-care/exercise weekend mornings. I'll craft for an hour or so, go to yoga on Saturdays or on the dog-walk Sundays, come home, eat breakfast, craft two or three more hours, have lunch, and then pivot to chores.
While I've been at home, unless I have a specific timed job search related activity like an interview, meeting, or call in the morning, I give myself a crafty hour to try to get a little self-care and soul-nourishment in to start the day, but not let every day turn into a weekend.

Are you recovered from you online crop weekend, Linda? Was this an SG event? Yes thank you. It was indeed a SG event and while I got a late start due to the internet going down, I was able to finish all the challenges by last night. Now I'm back to working my way through my Shimelle classes - currently working on her Half and Half class. I've watched the video for lesson 3 and am trying to figure out if I can find something that'll work for the assignment or if I'm going to need to swing into HL for watercolours that I might only use once. QOTD: What is your best time to craft: weekends or week days? Why? It depends. I tend to scrap weekday afternoons or sometimes evenings if we don't have family stuff going on. Weekends - pretty much the same - afternoons or evenings depending on what we're doing as a family. I do put online crops and events on the calender so those times are generally blocked off for scrapping although if there is a conflict with a family event - the family stuff comes first. I'm a stay at home mom with only one older teen left at home (DD17 is a rising senior) so my schedule is pretty light compared to many and DH is super encouraging about scrapping and genealogy and other hobby stuff so it's pretty easy to find crafty time most days. I am more likely to actually accomplish crafting when there's a crop involved - whether an online one here or a SG one on FB. I think the committment of saying "Yes, I'll be on Google Meets" when mom or someone else sets up an online crop or of signing up for an event - makes it easier to actually sit at my craft table rather than get side tracked by the internet or a book or...

I can't think of anything I would bring back except the Lifetime Moments store and message board. Not much to report here - we went to lunch and looked at sofas. My husband is not fully on board with getting a new one but I appreciate that he looked. I even broke it to him that I'd like to replace the rug and paint too. Ideally this would all happen after Labor Day so he has time to warm up to the idea. I did get to scrapbook last night which was fun. But I realized how much I need to organize my pictures and finished projects which is on deck for this week. angel97701 - continued good thoughts for your husband. joblackford - it was nice of you to take on this project but I get the "teach a person to fish..." mood. AussieMeg - so weird you watched 90210 and then to learn Shannon Doherty passed away today. I loved that show when it was on and thought it was kind of cringey back then I can't imagine watching it with 2024 eyes. Here's a layout where I used a ton of those prima flowers - it didn't even put a dent in the bottle. haha!! Ireland Cover by Christine C68, on Flickr WOW! I’ve heard all about the Prima flowers over the years here but besides seeing some pictures of the bottles I don’t think I’ve ever seen them. That’s a LOT of flowers! If that didn’t make a dent in the bottle I guess they probably weren’t a great money maker for the company unless they kept bringing out new limited edition colors for the full setters. Is that how it went?

Shakti I’m glad you have some good job news at last, but I can understand the hesitation until things are all settled. So fun that you were able to go see some of the trolls! I’ve settled into a sort of retirement schedule where I do things I need to or “should” do in the mornings and things I want to do after lunch (making cards!) Scrolling and crochet and TV in the evenings, mostly. And I try to spend weekends on reading and other hobbies that get shortchanged during the week, including digital scrapping. I’m extremely lucky to make my own schedule almost every day, but I can be a pretty sucky boss. I struggle with executive dysfunction

It is now an official verbal offer! The talent acquisition lady was able to get me the additional salary, the boss and I both had the same start date in mind -- a week from today (gulp!). Technically, I'm not supposed to use more than 3 days vacation in my first 90 days, but she said everyone hired this time of year has planned vacation and things are worked out. Plus, my boss has a vacation planned at the same time as mine or close to it. That's why we both preferred the earlier start date!

QOTD: I Would bring back Basic Grey product lines. Not cringy per se', and I still have a few in my stash.
QOTD: When do I craft? When I fell like I have other stuff caught up. I should take joblackford's suggestion and get "need to do stuff" done in the morning and play in the afternoon. But for me, when I don't have some appointment or Bible Study, mornings are the best time to be on the lake, so there's that. Glad a have my room that can stay set up ready to play.
I went out yesterday on my Stand Up Paddle board and it was tricky. We have a lot of "wake" boats on our lake and their wake travels all across the lake even if they are 1/2 mile from me. At least I went out.
DH's appoint is tomorrow. Still using walker, trying to stretch, is on a regime of OTC pain relievers every 2 hours (layering ibuprofen and acetametaphen) plus his muscle relaxer. This morning I got up and got myself ready, prepped his light breakfast and his meds for the morning. Put times on them so he will remember. He's exhausted from the non-stop pain, now 5 days. No real relief. Lowest is about 7/10. Hoping the DO can help, and that he can get PT tomorrow as well. Such a bummer to have this hit right as the water has gotten warm, and the weather is cooperating. We had a wet/cool early summer.
Shakti hoping the details come soon. Troll hunting sound really fun! Good job!
grammadee--you should leave your stadium set up and go for it, more cards!
Linda--I would have checked out the crop, but with DH I am really on call not really an option. I'm glad you feel accomplished, and not guilty the DH did work and you do other stuff. I'm sure there are plenty of times you gotten chores done while he chills
@christine68--you know a new sofa does always lead to new paint, new window coverings, and sometimes even new "other furniture". I have a story that started with replacing a wall heater that turned into a full re-do of my living room. LOL
AussieMeg--Wow, 91210 yep it would be cringy in 2024. My show of choice is NCIS--problem is almost always solved in 42 minutes. I'm super bummed as I went back to the very beginning and Netflix took off seasons 1-11. I was back on season 3. Some I remember others I must have never watched. It's fun to watch the characters develop.
Off to the acupuncturist this afternoon. I offered it to DH, but he declined.

The training people can't pivot quickly enough to accommodate my starting in a week, so 8/5 it is. So, clearly the people I'll be working with are really excited and eager to have me start. I expressed appropriate excitement and eagerness to start. But it's a good thing I don't have to mad-dash scramble to actually get ready to start a new job quite that quickly? Right? Heard the "thanks, but sorry" from the last company I interviewed with on 7/1. angel97701 sorry I had the days mixed up. Sucks that he has to wait another day in pain!

The best time for me to craft is in the evening. I'm more of a night person, the house is quiet and I generally don't feel like I should be doing something else.

I think I must've been raised to think that family time meant being together in front of the TV in the evenings! I feel like I'm ignoring my husband if I go off to do crafting after dinner. That's why I crochet in the evenings, so I can sit with him even if I don't care for what he's watching.

Not really sure if I have a time. Sometimes it’s morning but think I mostly craft in the afternoon or evenings unless at a crop they are mornings and start much earlier than I would like.

QOTD: What is your best time to craft: weekends or week days? Why? Weekends are best for me. I'm very much the type of person who needs to feel my to do list is under control before I can play, so I try to get all the chores done by Saturday morning and then the rest of the weekend is mine to scrap.

I am having the week from hell at work, and I am so tired that I can't even keep my eyes open to type this, let alone think of an interesting question to ask! All I can think of is how much I wish I could retire right now!
Which kind of leads on to my QOTD: If you are retired, do you schedule time for your hobbies, or do you just do them whenever you feel like it?
I think that if I was able to retire now, I would still have to set myself a schedule, otherwise I would 'waste' the whole day scrapping and internet surfing!

Our work/sleep schedules are skewed and he goes to bed 3-4 hours before me Sunday-Thursday so that's the time I have for myself. He gets home from work a few hours before me and that's the time he has for himself. We have plenty of family time, just not on weekday evenings.

(((Hugs))) AussieMegQOTD: If you are retired, do you schedule time for your hobbies, or do you just do them whenever you feel like it? not retired but not working either. Yes and no. I will block out certain times for scrapbooking - usually for an event (SG crop, Refupeas online crop, double points weekend) - but I also scrap (and research genealogy) as the mood suits. I do tend to try and get chores done in the morning and I do prioritise family stuff over hobbies though

QOTD: If you are retired, do you schedule time for your hobbies, or do you just do them whenever you feel like it? I think the biggest benifit of retirement is getting to decide WHEN you will get the work done, and when you will play. I remember promising myself when I retired that "Now I will not ever have to garden in my parka!" When I was working M-F, gardening got relegated to the weekends, no matter the weather. But now I can do an hour here, an hour there, and get the work done without exhausting myself, getting heat stroke--or needing a parka! By the same token, I can scrapbook first thing in the morning when my mind and body are fresh, with no more need to try to squeeze it in when not doing something else. AussieMeg, I am always exhausted in the evenings, so leaving scrapbooking until then does not work out well for me. My time isn't so much unscheduled, as scheduled to fit the weather, my mood and energy levels, upcoming "events" I need to prepare for (like the houseful of visiting family I have still sleeping upstairs and who have asked for waffles & bacon for brunch when they get up). My plans are usually pretty flexible with a list of a few things on the go. The beauty of retirement is that I can choose which parts I will be taking on when...

I read part of a book heathbrothers.com/the-power-of-moments/ that talked about how big events should have rituals and specialness around them, something I have always been very resistant to. But I feel like you need to have something more than clicking accept... Oh well, hopefully you can celebrate in your own way.

Well, I don't think it was that long ago I received a fedex package on my step with an actual offer letter! This is apparently one of those companies that sends a swag box, because they just asked to confirm my shipping address I'm sure receiving that will seem more special than the online form.

Which kind of leads on to my QOTD: If you are retired, do you schedule time for your hobbies, or do you just do them whenever you feel like it?Hard to say as I do consider myself "retired", but moving and dealing with DS18, house guests etc . . . at least I did get most of my craft room set up and have made cards. I should make a schedule. It just seems that one life event after another pops up and I don't schedule my exercise, crafting, or quiet times like I should.
AussieMeg--hang in there you are almost to the weekend.
Doctor's appointment today was helpful, but he's still got a ways to go. He was actually able to stand after the Osteopathic adjustment, but the pain is still pretty high. Brought him home fed him lunch and then about 30 minutes later we both napped. Why am I so tired when he's the one in pain? He is able to move better. We are still on a ton of OTC, and different topical pain relievers. PT intake next week, another DO appointment in two weeks, PT shortly after.
