I use the normal shapes on masculine pages stars, arrows and sometimes gears. Sometimes I will use a stencil or stamp to add some texture popping out from behind a photo or cluster.

My QOTD today is: What are your favourite embellishments to use on masculine pages?
I feel that choices for embellishments are really limited for masculine pages. There are only so many stars and gears that one can use! I would love to hear your thoughts on what you like to use on pages featuring the boys and men in your life. I tend to use images from their fav sports or hobbies. But I think my go-to would be gears. I have collected a lot of gear papers, and gears in various materials—diecuts & stickers, chipboard, metal, even wood—to layer on them.

I didn't realize you were moving. Stressful on its own, let alone with chronic conditions. (((((HUGS))))) I am sorry that this is overwhelming! Setting up with new practitioners and getting treatments on your schedule would be exhausting. Prayers and hugs my friend! Thank you to both of you! I’d be lying if I said there aren’t times I feel like throwing in the towel. I’ll get over it though. 😮💨 angel97701 I also hope your husband is able to get some relief. Daily life while experiencing pain at that scale is a difficult experience I don’t wish on anybody. Sending hugs. QOTD: What is your favourite SHAPE to use when scrapbooking or cardmaking? 🤔I don’t really have a favorite shape. I just use whatever I’m vibing with and feel fits the layout. QOTD: What are your favourite embellishments to use on masculine pages? Admittedly, I don’t make too many masculine pages. I’d say my non floral pages are gender neutral. I use whatever fits the theme of the photo or story. Not killin it with the QOTD responses here 😆.

None of my pages are really masculine or feminine, or embellished. For cards for guys I think I use geometries and arrows, stars. I don’t think I have any new ideas to offer!

Stars, arrows, hexagons. Stars are probably the thing I use most, but the pickings for masculine things that aren't geared to little boys is slim. I will definitely be checking out Bella Blvd's new teen line. I don't need it, but I know I want it LOL. angel97701 I hope they can get DH some relief! I can't even imagine being in that much pain, let alone for as long as he has been already. Sending good vibes for you guys. My points counting starts out strong every quarter and by the end I'm scrambling to figure them out lol. I do keep track of most of them in my planner each month when I remember lol.

Sounds like stars and arrows are a winner in the masculine embellishment category LOL. I like chevrons, too. My points counting starts out strong every quarter and by the end I'm scrambling to figure them out lol. I do keep track of most of them in my planner each month when I remember lol. I try to do the calculating/adding up every couple of weeks, but that being said, I don't think it will happen soon for this last couple. The points I don't always write down are for the time spent crafting. Some quarters I am better at keeping track of that.

On the GS board, there is a question about frugal scrapbooking with lots of interesting answers. There is a feature with that title in the Creative Scrapbooker magazine, and she has suggested all kinds of materials you can use, other than stuff sold as paper crafting supplies. I have used corrugated cardboard on my pages. Also candy wrappers, a crocheted dishcloth, gift wrap as supplies. Also various tools, including a heavy duty awl and various pliers. Before I had circle cutting equipment, it was a plate or a glass (and at least once, cookie cutters) as templates to draw shapes I could cut with scissors. Oh, and I routinely use wax paper as a non stick craft desk cover. Which leads me to the QOTD: what household items have you used in papercrafting, either directly on your project(s), or as a tool?

I've have used plates as circle templates, gift wrap tissue paper and party streamers on projects but that's about it.
I have to start doing something scrap related in order to have points to count. :rolleye: But my plan for today is to do some side work until my husband heads out to meet his brother and sister in about an 90 minutes. I'll have some lunch then put everything away and get to scrapping. I'll do a little organizing but I am ending the day with a completed project!!

My QOTD today is: What are your favourite embellishments to use on masculine pages? hmmm...I guess I don't really define pages as masculine or feminine - they are just pages and I'll use flowers, stars, arrows, hearts, hexagons, tags, banners, circles, lego bricks, word strips regardless of whether the photo subject is a guy or a girl and regardless of whether the colour scheme is traditionally male or female. I generally start with any themed embellishments or collection pieces and then grab the by colour embellishment boxes to fill in gaps.

QOTD: what household items have you used in papercrafting, either directly on your project(s), or as a tool? I think most if not all of what I currently use for papercrafting was either designed for paper crafting or at a minimum, came from the office supply aisles/store. But I've used plates and cups for circle tracing in the past and I will save interesting tags etc...to use - there's a pretty blue and gold house shaped Christmas tag in my stash that came on someone's present last Christmas. I did just liberate a Lego brick separator from Dh after seeing Shimelle use one for letter placement in a video. Haven't tried it yet

I don’t use a lot of household items. I have used a plate to trace a circle but it’s been years. I tried using the end of a paper towel tube dipped in paint to create a circle or heart but I wasn’t thrilled with the result.
I have used a tag that I liked from an item.
I do use wax paper to help align alpha stickers before putting them on a layout or even move around for placement. I use packaging or plastic wrap to smoosh ink on a layout or card.

Well since I've been scrapbooking since 1997 (first stamp purchase in 1983) I've used all of the above! I can also add freezer paper (iron between tissue paper to make it more stable) and as a water proof work surface, netting from produce, wax paper to place letter stickers in a straight line, sponges for making backgrounds with craft paint, bleach in card making, and so on.
DH update . . . back is still in spasms at 10/10 this morning. Narcotics are not really touching the pain. Weaning back and hopefully ibuprofen and acetaminophen with do the same in masking--what little it is. To get more Narcotics we have to go back to ER, not a great option for severe muscle spasms. First available Dr. appointment is Tuesday at 10, and maybe PT available the same day? It's going to be a long weekend. The days are already blurring together as it is!

I think I played around with bubble wrap and paint back in my paper scrapping days. On my last layout, I used a scanned piece of notebook paper for my journaling. Not sure that can be classified as 'household item' though.

Hoping his spasms ease soon, angel97701. I am assuming they Xrayed to identify culprits like pinched nerve, hairline fracture, slipped disc? On a threadon NSBR they were discussing symptoms of aortic anuerism and one of them was severe back pain, which tagged a memory for me of my oldest ds's hockey coach who died of one after thinking he was dealing with a back ache.

Well, it was a rainy old day here in old Melbourne town. I wasn't in the mood to watch anything too heavy tonight, so I scrolled through the shows on Prime, and went way back into the Time Machine and found..... Beverley Hills 90210! I watched the first two episodes, and it was wonderful and cringey all at once. I had to google to remind myself when it was first on TV. It ran from 1990 until 2000.
QOTD: If you think back to your early scrapping days (and for some of us, that would have been back in the days when Beverley Hills 90210 was airing on TV!), what is one maybe wonderful / maybe cringey product you would bring back?
For me, I loved Prima flowers. I used to love putting two flowers together and securing them to my page with a brad. I had flowers and brads in every colour imaginable. I'll have to see if I can find an old page that showcases some of those double Prima flowers!

I never had Prima flowers but I remmeber wanting them - they were so pretty in their jars. I think I would bring back non-themed coordinating papers - the slabs had some gosh awful patterns at times but what they did do well is a variety of patterns and colours that worked together without being specifically themed.

Maybe at some of the things I did and said, some of the choices I made, but not scrapbook choices. When I look back at my early albums, I am more critical of the photo quality than of the effect I tried to create with very few tools to get there. I miss Magic Mesh. I loved it. Such a quick easy way to add texture and oomph to a page or card, with very little bulk! Oh, and AussieMeg, I STILL use a Prima flower or two... doubled or trippled up... with BRADS

I have no answer for the question today, and I can’t really think of a good answer for yesterday either. So, just checking in. I’m obsessing about Christmas card designs and I blame the peas! Or maybe the industry for bringing out so many cute products for the holidays in July.
Yesterday I got all my craft points doing crochet instead of cards. I wound all my leftover yarn into neat little balls, very satisfying. Then I started a project I should’ve declined, a favor to a coworker of my SIL’s. I’m making her a cell phone pouch to wear at work, like I made for my SIL, but this time following an actual pattern (which I thought would be easier than winging it). It shouldn’t be a hard project but let’s just say there was a lot of starting over (6 tries to get the foundation piece right!) and a lot of swearing involved.
I’m reminding myself that this is my choice, and that I’m earning points and learning new skills. Maybe the most important skill is saying “no, but I’d be happy to link you to a DIY tutorial or Etsy shop” !!

I can't think of anything I would bring back except the Lifetime Moments store and message board. Not much to report here - we went to lunch and looked at sofas. My husband is not fully on board with getting a new one but I appreciate that he looked. I even broke it to him that I'd like to replace the rug and paint too. Ideally this would all happen after Labor Day so he has time to warm up to the idea. I did get to scrapbook last night which was fun. But I realized how much I need to organize my pictures and finished projects which is on deck for this week. angel97701 - continued good thoughts for your husband. joblackford - it was nice of you to take on this project but I get the "teach a person to fish..." mood. AussieMeg - so weird you watched 90210 and then to learn Shannon Doherty passed away today. I loved that show when it was on and thought it was kind of cringey back then I can't imagine watching it with 2024 eyes. Here's a layout where I used a ton of those prima flowers - it didn't even put a dent in the bottle. haha!! Ireland Cover by Christine C68, on Flickr

Lifetime Moments store and message board I do miss those also. I was mainly a lurker on the original TwoPeas (about 500 posts in 10 years) but LTM was smaller and less intimidating so I posted more there. And Jackie and Thad were so nice. I hope you get your new sofa and rug. Yay for scrapbooking this weekend. I participated in the SG crop on FB this weekend - actually made it through all the challenges! Now I'm back to working my way through my backlog of Shimelle classes. Currently two lessons into Half and Half. I did feel a little guilty scrapping while DH mowed the grass yesterday and weedwhacked today but...he didn't care so...

I can’t think of much I would bring back other than a few companies. I still miss scenic route. I had tons of prima flowers back in the day along with some from Heidi Swapp. I still have some in my stash.
I have actually crafted this week. 18 cards so far. Today’s batch included some cursing snd bringing out the adhesive remover. They were paper pumpkin but had fancy folds and I swear a few times the photo didn’t match the way the paper looked but I finished them and think they look cute. I feel good as I have used up two kits this week I’m hoping to finish another in the next few days. I bought quite a few older kits and refills.
I also spent time organizing my newer supplies. I added magnetic sheets to some die sets to keep them with their coordinating stamp sets. Such a change from CTMH vs SU but I do like the extra dies and that some dies coordinate with their paper. I just need more energy to really play.
angel97701 I hope your husband can get some relief. Hoping that the Dr has something better than the meds that aren’t working.

Linda - I was the same in that I never really settled in at the original 2peas. I'm not even sure how I found LM but I was glad I did. Thad & Jackie were so nice and I met so many people through that board who I still see and/or are in touch with. Did you participate in Scrapfest? I looked forward to it every January & June and used to help with point counting. Good for you getting through your classes and yay for your husband taking care of the yard work.

QOTD: If you think back to your early scrapping days what is one maybe wonderful / maybe cringey product you would bring back? Heidi Swapp used to have tiny flower shaped gemstones when she was with Advantus. They came in pale pink and clear and had two sizes in the pack, and they were the perfect little scattering piece. I'd bring back those.

angel97701, hope your DH's appt goes well today and that he gets relief! @petscrapper, best of luck with your move. I hope you can build yourself a little compact and portable "crafting capsule" you can keep with you throughout the process for when you just need to! After the holiday week of torturous nothingness and limbo, last week began with more nothingness and limbo, then moved into a series of bad news. By Thursday afternoon or Friday, I was pretty despondent, convinced I would never work again (well, maybe fast food or Walmart greeter). At 5:40 on Friday, i got a call from the most interesting of the opportunities I interviewed for before the 4th. It was a sort of a verbal offer. The HR person was still on vacation, might not return until tomorrow, so there are details missing, but talent acquisition wanted to let me know that they are making an offer. I got the benefits into over the weekend, but there was nothing about vacation. So, exact starting salary, start date, and my upcoming vacation all still need to ironed out. Hence the "sort of a verbal offer" or maybe "offer of an offer" or "advanced notice that an offer is coming". Between the fuzziness of what's on the table and the extreme emotional whiplash from where I was when the call came in, it hasn't quite sunk in and/or doesn't seem completely real yet. I'm sure that the fact that the last time I got an offer for the job I really wanted, the job ended three weeks later is also sort of tempering my excitement about this one. Not that I'm intellectually worried that the same thing could happen, just that I'm sort of emotionally gunshy or something like that. After joblackford, in a previous chat thread, told the story of going to see a couple of the sculptures on Thomas Dambo's troll trail in her area, I started looking into his work. Turns out the first two trolls in what will be the Rhode Island Troll Trail were installed in May. DH had told me after the wedding we went to in May (ironically, maybe) that he wished to get to know the couple better (bride's a friend of mine). They live in RI. So, I brought him on a magical mystery tour yesterday. We drove two hours to the park where the trolls are, met my friend and her husband, saw the trolls, found a place nearby to have brunch, and there was a flea market/craft fair sort of thing on the lawn of the inn where we had brunch, so we wandered around that for a bit. DH had figured out that the couple were who we were meeting up with, but was completely surprised by the trolls!
