Saw the post about Samsung refrigerators and it got me thinking, because our fridge is 20 years old and I am curious to see how long it will last us. Our oven and dishwasher both conked out on us a few years ago, but they lasted nearly 15 years.
We all know appliances aren’t made like they used to be, but do you have any that are old and still going strong?
ETA: my parents have an upright freezer in the garage that is at least 40 years old. They are probably paying a fortune in electricity, but it still works, so….😆

We redid our kitchen about 6 years ago and replaced all the appliances. So, ours isn’t old yet. Before that, we had a 20 year old fridge, oven and stove. All worked fine. Our current fridge, KitchenAid is so noisy. I can’t wait to replace it.

We recently had to replace a Sub-zero refrigerator and a new one was all that would fit. Ouch. The old one was over 20 years old.
Our dishwasher is a 12-year-old Bosch. They last a really long time.

We just had to replace a Samsung fridge that was only 7 years old. We had already put a bunch of money into it despite a warranty, and we were not willing to do that again with fridges on sale at not much more than our last repair bill. Then the oven died, but we aren't sure of the age since we bought this house 2.5 years ago. From the looks of it, it very well could have been original to the house 30+ years ago. And now our cooktop is trying to conk out. Sigh.
Back in the day, my grandma had a deep freeze that lasted her almost five decades!!

I moved into my condo less than two years ago ... my appliances are all Samsung and not that old ... I do not expect them to last ... I don't love any of them ...
In my old house I had an LG fridge that was awesome! I miss it!

We replaced our fridge a few years ago.. I think less than five.. but our old one (20 years old or so) is still working but now in the garage.
My range was replaced about six years ago, the oven stopped broiling and then a burner, it was our original, so about 20 years old as well.
We replaced the dishwasher at the same time, old but was was still running but it was getting icky/rusted in the inside.

We completely remodeled the kitchen in 2013. Installed a Bosch dishwasher (lasted 7 years); a Kitchenaid French door fridge (lasted 6 years); a Kitchenaid 30" double oven (hated it, finally replaced it 2 years ago); a Wolf 36" gas rangetop (still going strong).
The dishwasher was replaced with a Cove (SubZero) and it has been fantastic.
The fridge was replaced with an LG french door fridge. In the 4 years we had it, the compressor was replaced 3 times, the motor for the ice maker was replaced 4 times and didn't work at all the last year we had it. It was replaced with a pair of SubZero columns and they have been awesome. Was worth the long wait to get them. Love my LG washer/dryer but will never have one of their fridges again.
The double ovens were replaced two years ago with a Wolf 30" oven and a 30" Speed Oven (microwave/convection combo). Again, absolutely no issues and love them.
Good luck with finding good replacements.

All of my large appliances are 15 years old. My washing machine is starting to have issues and I need to find someone to repair it because it doesn't have many electronics, uses a ton of water and does not have lid lock.

My refrigerator is probably 20 plus years old. It still worked great. I did recently refresh the paint on it, but other than that, I was happy with it. It is currently not in use at the moment because the woman that I bought this house from left all the appliances here, from refrigerator to washer and dryer. She even left her toaster oven for me. As soon as I locate my washer, dryer, and fridge in the box jungle in my garage, I will move them in and donate the items that were here. My washer and dryer were only two years old and had features that I really miss. I already have a garage fridge/freezer so I don’t need the one currently in the kitchen at all. I’m sure I can find good homes for them.

We moved in here in Feb 2021 and have replaced everything except the stove so far. I have my fingers crossed it can hang in there because it'll be expensive to replace as it's an electric downdraft and there just aren't many of those around. It's a Jenn-Air with lots of bells and whistles
The freezer was the only planned purchase- it's a Midea and no problems at all.
Fridge in the house died the weekend we moved in - we replaced it with a Frigidaire. Overall it's been fine but we did have to replace the damper earlier this year and the ice maker is tempermental.
Washer was a Samsung - the struts broke and our repair said that if it wasn't Samsung, he could repair it but Samsung parts are significantly more expensive and he suggested it made more sense to replace. DH picked out the replacement - it wouldn't have been my first choice but it was what was available in store at the time. It's a Maytag with agitator. I really actually liked the Samsung but the Maytag is ok - just smaller/less capacity and I liked the non -agitator better.
Dryer was a Maytag and we replaced with a Samsung when it died.
Dishwasher was OLD (goldenrod anyone) and we ended up replacing it with a Maytag 3-rack - I love it.

At our primary home, our kitchen appliances (side-by-side fridge from 2007, slide-in gas stove and dishwasher from 2010) are all Kenmore. Love them all! We have a Speed Queen washer and dryer which I also love; we got them in 2018 to replace a set that were over 20 years old. The big joke is the “temporary” countertop microwave we got secondhand from my FIL in 1997. He got it for his apartment when he divorced my MIL a couple of years prior, before he moved in with his (now) wife. Well, we just replaced that microwave after 27 YEARS. And, it still works! The latches on the door kept sticking so you needed 2 hands to open it, so we decided it was finally time. At our lake house, it had all LG appliances that were about 4 years old when we bought it in 2019. The microwave and French door fridge are fine. The clothes dryer is fine but I do hate the washer, we’ve had nothing but issues with it but I won’t replace it until we move here full-time. We recently replaced the stove with a GE Profile; we upgraded our heating system from oil to propane and got the stove at the same time. The old range was an electric glass top that had 2 broken burners and heated so unevenly, I HATED it. We also just replaced the dishwasher (completely croaked last summer) with a Bosch; I literally just ran it for the first time last night. The red indicator light that is cast onto the floor to let you know it’s running was a nice bonus for cat entertainment!

Well, we built our current house in 2013, moved in end of September that year. We have replaced most of our appliances already. The exceptions are (knock on wood): dryer, stove cooktop, and wall oven.

My house was built in 2005. All of my appliances are original except for the fridge and stove/oven. I only replaced the fridge bc the freezer handle broke off and there was no way to replace. It was an LG french door with bottom freezer style. I replaced my range because I wanted an upgrade. The onld and new are both Frigidaires. My dishwasher is also a Frigidaire and it will not die! I've been waiting for it to kick the bucket so I can get one with a 3rd rack, but it's still going strong. My washer/dryer set is Maytag. I will be devastated when it quits working.

We remodelled 4 years ago with GE Profile appliances. We already replaced the dishwasher and I love the new one. The stove has had serious drama with the oven light arching. I wouldn’t buy GE this cheap again. The ice maker was just broken and we replace the water filter every month. We know this is a thing.

We had to replace all of our kitchen appliances over the course of 2023 so the oldest of them is a year and a half old and the newest is 6 months old.
Our washer and dryer are on the older side, but still working well!

20 years and going strong. Actually our stovetop is even older, 30 years. We remodeled when we moved in, but the stove top is an odd size and difficult to replace so we left it. The only thing we can't seem to find a decent one is microwave. We've probably gone through 4 or 5. I hear the newer Bosch dishwashers aren't as good, so I'll be sad when this one dies. It's been great and gets a ton of use.

The oldest major appliance we have right now is our fridge. It's a whirlpool from 2007. We are trying to replace it before it conks out on us, but so far, no luck in finding anything we like that also fits our space. As always, we don't want any of the bells and whistles many other consumers find to be cool or necessary, so that decreases the selection for us. So while we're whining about that, I'm grateful for every day this Whirlpool keeps being cool. Our stove is new and our washer & dryer relatively so. We don't have a dishwasher and likely never will while living here, anyway. And while not a major appliance, our microwave is new & huge for our space and DH can't wait for it to get a bit older or stop working so he can feel more justified in replacing it with something small and retro looking.

I have left them (newer) behind each time I've moved so I can't say how long they all have lasted other than the stuff I bought here is now 6 years old, no problems. I have mentioned here before that my mom is still using the 1940 refrigerator that my dad's best friend's mom gave her in the 70s. She really loves antiques and it still works great. I know it was a hard day for her when she had to give up the Roper 1920s gas stove in the 80s. I can't remember if it died or if we had to leave it behind when we moved. It did look pretty cool. ETA I went searching and apparently the stove was more like 1940s? I'm not sure, I thought it was older but anyway it looked like this. Only I thought it had a fancier little plate that said "Roper" on it. offerup.com/item/detail/e63e12b2-312b-3ff2-9de6-ee87c5fbf36d

Maytag washer and dryer are almost 20 years old. Bosch dishwasher is 17 years old. I'm not looking to replace any of these any time soon.
I bought a new refrigerator in 2017 to get the style I had always wanted. It's a Whirlpool, regular door with a freezer on the bottom and I love it.
The shortest time I've ever had an appliance was a Jenn Air stove I had for 13 years. After the 3rd part had to be replaced, I bought a new Maytag in 2020 and am very happy with it.

Our washer & dryer are 24 years old, bought them new when we bought our house. We've had both worked on over the years because they have had easily fixable issues (the technicians have told us that if we ever want to get rid of them that they'd buy them from us).
We redid our kitchen in 2005 and got all new appliances. The fridge and microwave are still going strong. We had to replace the oven 5-6 years ago because the electronic panel went bad and there was no replacement available. The dishwasher died a year or two ago, I think it was also an electrical issue.

I rent from my sister but in the almost 4 years I've been here, we've had to replace the dishwasher and the microwave just went out. I don't know how long they had been around before me but there are issues with the fridge too so I'm guessing that might be next to go.

Our stuff seems to last 5-7 years. BUT the dishwasher, washer, dryer, and stove/oven are used A LOT due to having to cook 99% of our meals and washing a lot of laundry.
Currently...
Dishwasher is 1 months old. It was about 6 yrs old prior to its motor dying. It is used 2x a day.
Fridge is 1.5 years old. Our Samsung (piece of s!t) French door was 5 years old.
Washer is 1 year old. Previous was about 6 yrs old.
Dryer is 1.5 years old. Previous from washer set was 5 yrs old.

We bought all new appliances when we moved into our current house 12 years ago because the owners didn’t leave anything.
Washer/dryer Stove Fridge Dishwasher Microwave
We bought these Kenmore appliances at Sears, and knock on wood they have worked beautifully for 12 years. We got an awesome deal on a “buy more, save more” promotion. We even got a free 5-year extended warranty which we used twice (dryer, stove).
Of course, they will probably all die at the same time, and if so, I hope Costco has a good deal at the time LOL. I have no idea what brand I want when the time comes.

We replaced them all two years ago. At that point they were 16 year old Fridgedaire builder grade appliances put in by the previous owners. We really only had an issue with the oven (caught on fire) and the in-door water dispenser on the fridge didn’t work.
Our Whirlpool Duet washer/dryer are 18 years old. No issues with those.

I *think* my kitchen was updated around 2001 and pretty sure all of the appliances were from then. The SubZero fridge had to have the Freon recharged and a leak repaired a few years ago but no other issues since then. Thermador double ovens both still work fine although DH tightened one of the doors several years ago. KitchenAid microwave still works fine. We replaced the Bosch dishwasher last year when the door on the old one cracked. Replaced the existing water heater this year.
We brought our LG washer and dryer with us from our old house because they were fairly new at that point (probably bought in ‘08 so they were due), both of them were replaced last year when something started going wrong with the washer. We replaced our 30+ year old central air last year. The boiler is also original to the house and is slated for replacement sometime in the near future.
