Happy July 1st everyone
Did barre this morning.
I'm planning on starting an exercise challenge. The first 2 weeks are free and then it is subscription. She (Caroline Girvan) has free workouts on YouTube, but I want to start with the beginner series. The beginner series is 3x per week.
Took my "before" pictures today. I'm trying to decide if I will compare at 1 month or t weeks.
My goal is to still lose weight, but I also want to gain muscle.l, especially in my arms. In addition to the videos, I also want to do some yoga flexibility multiple times per week.
My problem areas are #1 thighs followed by hips and my butt needs definition.
How are you all doing? Any goals for the month? How are you planning on meeting them.

Day #74 without a cigarette and I only want them a little bit. I've gotten past the taste. Yuck! But I came outside of the pharmacy a bit ago and someone was smoking and the scent triggered me. Still holding steady though.
Day #24 eating plant-based. I have lost 6.2 pounds as of this morning. I am not having any trouble eating plant-based but damn, I'm so tired of other people's comments. Eating in a group situation has been less than desirable. I thought as long as I wasn't out there proclaiming to be a preachy vegan, people would just leave me the hell alone. I did this for health reasons. I did it with an open mind as an experiment and *still* people are telling me shit. It's gotten annoying.

I ended the month on the down side...just shy of 36 pounds. My goal is to be down 40 by the end of August when I go to France...defiantly doable with my current diet and exercise routine...just have to cut out the ice cream...which is my weakness!!! It is summer after allš

Im back on the healthy-ish train. Last week I gave up all my caffeine and started back on Intermittent fasting. I was literally drinking all my calories. So far, I am down about 3lbs. I also finally bought a food scale.
Our fall vacation is in 2 1/2 months, so I am setting a short term goal of losing 20 lbs (including the 3 I lost this past week).

I am discouraged currently and trying my best to remind myself to keep working and the weight loss will come. I did a minimum of 4 nights/week on the treadmill and did interval training that pushed me more than I would normally do. I watched what I ate. When my family would have ice cream on hot nights I passed. I ended the month up 0.4 lbs. I am frustrated and defeated.

Laurie I hear you on the frustration. Do your clothes fit differently? Sometimes it is a nsv instead of the scale. Another idea, are you getting enough calories? Protein. I've been up and down the same 5 lbs for months. It sucks.

I just started my 3rd volume of RISE and I'm already impressed by how much strength I've gained. The multi-plane exercises are a killer though, but I do love the whole body focus of this program while still incorporating the big lifts. I just started a small cut about 2 weeks ago. Hoping to lose 5 pounds before my Mexico trip in September

I changed my mind on the exercise program as I felt I could do her free youtube video workouts instead of the beginner series. I decided to do her Iron series. I did day 2 yesterday and actually enjoyed it. I have heard the harder days are coming. I'm using really light weights because I don't have the strength yet and I still get the burn. Taking today off because it is glutes and abs and I have a 5k tomorrow.
I did eat an entire pint of ice cream last night, so...

I went to the doctor yesterday to follow up on my blood pressure. It was fine when the nurse first took it, but she took it again while I was standing up - it dropped over 30 points!
The doc wants me to increase my fluids and salt intake and decrease my Wegovy dosage from 2.4 to 1.7, since 2% of patients report orthostatic hypotension as a side effect. He said to keep monitoring it, but my heart rate seems to be fine. I'm not thrilled about reducing the Wegovy, since I'm not yet at my goal, but I don't want to pass out either!

For those of you tracking macros, do you use an app to enter your food and track it? If so, what app?
For those of you who use intermittent fasting, how long is your fast? I've been doing 16 hours fasting and 8 hour window for eating for the past 2 weeks. It's been a game changer for my constant snacking.

sunnyd: I do intermittent fasting and I have lost 52 lbs and keep it off so far. I do 16 hours of fasting from 6 pm to 10 am and an 8 hour window of eating. I used to be a huge snacker at night watching tv. Even during the 8 hours, I have cut down on my food intake. I also walk everyday and ride my bike about 4 times a week. Itās now become my lifestyle and my blood pressure dropped and my sugar is under control.

sunnyd: Thanks for the compliment! I was diagnosed as diabetic in March of 2023. I knew that if I lost weight, that would be beneficial for my sugar levels. I decided then that intermittent fasting was my best option because dieting never worked for me in the past. I still miss my evening snacks but if I eat enough at supper, Iām not hungry and can easily go until the next morning. Good luck with your journey!

I'll jump in here as I'm really trying to focusing on my health and fitness goals. Let me first say that I am in perimenopause and it's kicking my a$$! I have never worked so hard to even maintain my weight, much less lose. I'm working with a dietician and am counting macros successfully for the first time so I'm proud of that. I love Caroline Girvan workouts and am sweating my way through Epic Endgame now. Her little Irish, 'let's gooo' is adorable!
I just entered a deficit for my calories so figuring out the new macros has been like starting all over. I was a vegetarian for a number of years and I'm adding in a little bit of chicken breast to hit my protein target. I don't like the taste of meat so even chicken I have to hide in toppings and don't see myself expanding to much more meat variety.
Have a great week!!

It's been a game changer for my constant snacking. I was using the premium My Fitness Pal and a food scale. For my Intermittent Fasting - I do 16 hours fasting, with my food window from 12pm-8pm. If I know we will be eating later, I will adjust my first meal until after 1pm.

I've used My Fitness Pal to track before and it was fine. I'm using Chronometer now because my RD likes it and I'd say it has a more accurate way of measuring compared to MFP.

I'm about to finish my first week of Iron and so far, I really like it. The fb group has had some posts about yelling at the TV or cussing CG and I figures it was hyperbole until the finisher on day 3. I was like, "really...more?" And at the last set, I actually told her tv self that I hated her.
I have found that I'd like to get heavier weights.

Wading back into this š
In dealing with menopause I had blood work done and my cholesterol was a bit high so my doctor sent me to a dietician. Iāve been working on cutting the crap and processed stuff.
Ive read Fast Like a Girl and am slowly incorporating intermittent fasting but no too seriously yet. And m back to using a āwalking for weight lossā app as well. Almost done week 2!

I was on vacation for 9 days and was pleasantly surprised when I weighed this morning and I was down 1 lb. Ultimately, I would like to lose another 10-15 lbs but I am not stressing over how long it takes me. I am loving lifting weights and I have found that my clothes are fitting better and my body composition is changing. I think it is so easy to get caught up in the number on the scale.
I have my annual dr appt tomorrow and I am anxious to see what he has to say.

I got off the intermittent fasting routine for the past couple of months, got on a scale this morning and found myself up 6 pounds. So it's back to no breakfast until 1 pm for me. I try to stick with a 5-lb range so it doesn't get too hard to recover.

That was the hardest part for me when going plant based, which we did for my husband's arteries and based on his doctor's orders and a friend's experience. You said, and I totally agree: "I thought as long as I wasn't out there proclaiming to be a preachy vegan, people would just leave me the hell alone. I did this for health reasons. Iāve been sitting at the same weight since April. Canāt seem to make it budge. I keep having one health issue after another though. Finally found a new primary care and my first appointment is on the 22nd. Hope to finally get some answers.

Hi well like the rest of you I am struggling. I used to weigh 120lbs and I am now an XL. Omg. My life has stabilized since my kids moved out AND took their dog! There was drama surrounding that. We are fine now. I am just having to cope with no chaos anymore.
I am back doing keto to lose the 45 lbs I gained and imagine it will take 3 months. I am trying to exercise more but itās just too hot to go outside right now. I will get back at it.

OK, so I wanted to share a very pleasant update this morning. In the first 7 weeks that I quit smoking, I gained 8.6 pounds. So 49 days. On day 50, I went plant based. Tomorrow will be 12 weeks that I've been smoke free. So 84 days. And as of this morning, I am down exactly that 8.6 pounds. Losing weight was never the goal with engaging in a plant based diet. Lowering my cholesterol and my A1C were my goals. I also take blood pressure medication which I have taken on and off throughout my life that seems to be triggered by weight gain. There is a threshold about 20 pounds lighter than where I am that triggers high blood pressure. So if I lose weight or just make enough changes that blood pressure resolves too, I'd be thrilled.
Honestly, my experiment has had nothing but positives. Other than I miss cheese.
