Christmas in July- whoooooo hooooo! Thanks for starting the thread .i really want to work on my dd from 2023 but i want to finish my WITL from this year first while it’s more fresh. I am planning on going big for dd- i bought Ali’s 8x10 Santa album on a big sale. Never done 8x10 but thgoht the larger canvas would be fun and this is the first new in new house so lots of firsts to document.
I haven’t seen anything I really need. A few sheets of pp here and there maybe. Ali will get most of my Christmas business, I am sure.

I got my JYC 2023 blurb trade book (5x8") in the mail the other day Finally jumped on a sale and trusted that whatever I had made in January was good enough and didn't need further editing. I have only flipped through it very quickly to check that nothing was printed upside down or back to front but should probably take this thread as my sign to go through it properly.

joblackford Thank you so much for starting this thread. I do hope sleepingbooty is ok. I need to do a deep clean of my old DD supplies. I have years worth of supplies and I know I won't use it all. And I like buying AE new stuff each year. But not sure where the best place to unload my old AE supplies.

Hmm, I know there are active buy/sell/trade groups for some brands so maybe someone can point you to an AE specific one. I think I ended up RAKing the last of mine, but I didn’t have much.

There is an AE buy/sell group on Facebook. www.facebook.com/groups/967123013752936Stuff will sell quickly if it's new or if it's priced well. Huge bundles don't seem to be the most popular (like, here's all the AE stuff I won't want for $300). So if you have one year of a DD collection, put it all together. Individual albums sell well. There's always someone looking for one they didn't buy enough of. People seem to be very nice over there. I've had good luck with ISO but I haven't bought anything (mostly because I have already bought everything I wanted ha ha ).

I went on a hunt for stuff for a junk journal and now I think I could make 2, LOL! Found some old December calendar pages, some holiday cards & envelopes, plus some additional left-over pages from planners, notebooks, and such. I know I have a whole bag of left-over wrapping paper pieces in the attic, but it's about 90 degrees with 90 % humidity right now, so the attic doesn't sound terribly appealing to me. It's supposed to cool down next week, so that's when I can go look for those.

We’re breaking temperature records here in Phoenix so it’s hard to get in a mood for Christmas and/or winter. It’s supposed to be 114F (45.6C) today. Falalalala lalalala.

I was cleaning out a drawer and found a bag of wrapping paper pieces my mom saved for me that she gave to me well after Christmas so that saved me the jaunt up to the attic.
I haven't been creating anything, yet, though. It's so humid here and it's doing me in.

I'm digital so those new releases don't start showing up until November. I have quite awhile until I get to see the new pretties I'll be using. I do have half of DD2023 to finish in the meantime, however. It was a very full month and once the kids got out of school for break, I was busy doing the things and ran out of time to scrap the things. Fortunately for me, their dad spent the last two weeks of December (and has said he's doing it again this year, too) on vacation with his wife so we were able to do all sorts of Christmas-y things that we wouldn't have had time for otherwise. It's in a new format so if I can finish that by this fall, I can have it printed and see if I like the size well enough to create in it again this year.

I need to create two photo collages to finalize my DD2022. I have to finish 2019 and start 2020, 2021 and 2023. My plan for 2024 is to use these Currently chipboard tabs from Elle's Studio as 24 page prompts. I've been making December albums since 2008 so I'm excited to mix things up.

Thanks for starting the Christmas thread joblackford. I need to finish my 2023 DD. I never finish them until August or October so I don't feel "behind" yet. I then want to do a purge before I purchase anything else. None of the releases have got me really excited, yet. I know I will change my mind though as we get close to December.

I need to finish my 2023 December Daily this month. I'm usually better at finishing in a timely manner, but last year I took the Paige Evans Sugarplum Wishes class and decided to use that album for 2018, the year before I started DD. That put me behind on the 2023 album, but I only have 4 pages left to complete it.
The Sugarplum Wishes album has so many pages we made in class that I didn't use for 2018, so I'm going to add 2017 to it when I get a chance.

I didn’t do DD last year and thought I might go back and make one when all the Christmas hype starts, since I usually get inspired but by the time December rolls around and I start anything, I’m already halfway over it. However, I bought the Stories of Christmas Past kit from AE for super cheap and it includes the class so I think I might channel that Christmas energy into working on a compilation album. I have always liked the idea of creating a “baseline” Christmas album that includes a lot of the traditions that have stayed the same since I was a kid, like a prequel to my current DD. Then, my current albums can focus more on what has changed since then. The idea was in the back of my mind and I was debating getting the kit every time it went on sale, then I found a bunch of childhood photos and decided it was time. The kit went on sale for $10 and I jumped, then it sold out so perfect timing! I think when the DD bug hits me sometime around Ali’s yearly release, I will just add to that album. I’m excited to work on it, but I have two summer travel albums I need to work on first. My brain is still in summer mode.

Thanks for the thread joblackford! I don't have any unfinished scrappy Christmas projects so I am going to focus on getting my Christmas cards started (and hopefully finished!) I am going to a 5 day retreat in 2 weeks and my plan is to focus on making Christmas cards. I need to make about 90-100 so I should stay pretty busy. I did cave and bought some of the new Waffle Flower Christmas in July release as well as a Tim Holtz Santa die in the SSS 50% off clearance sale. I also bought the lovely layers pinecone set and a Honey Bee sentiment set from Scrapbook.com so I do have some new goodies to play with

Are all the Christmas collections released so far a bit disappointing? put it this way, i wasn't terribly impressed or spurred to own them. i seem to be more interested in Halloween in July but i'm keeping my eyes open for possible xmas projects. the new xmas collection releases aren't very inspiring but we have time.

I just watched the Waffle Flower (cards) July release video and now I want to buy all the things and make all the cards! I better sit down with a pen and paper and write down which bits I actually love and see if I can make them without buying quite so many products... (I could probably even use products I * already own * !)

Oh my gosh, you all. The fact that you can even think of Christmas in July is just foreign to me. I want to stretch out summer as long as possible. Besides that, the holiday to get ready for is obviously Halloween. Halloween is where it is at. Carry on with your Christmas cheer....

Besides that, the holiday to get ready for is obviously Halloween. Halloween is where it is at. Carry on with your Christmas cheer.... I totally get it! I'm very big on celebrating what's going on right now, generally speaking. I have a list of things to do while it's hot because I forget until it's too late to actually do them (like eat gazpacho! and cold avocado vichyssoise soup! and all the berries). Our summer is quite short and I really try to enjoy it while it lasts. But then again, I grew up in the Upside Down - NZ celebrates Easter in autumn, Halloween in spring (! so wrong !), and Christmas at midsummer! So I don't know what makes sense at all 😆 I can pretend to be on board with thinking about Christmas...
