About the gunman www.nytimes.com/2024/07/14/us/politics/trump-assassination-attempt-wounded.htmlThe gunman was identified early Sunday by the F.B.I. as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, from Bethel Park, Pa., but officials released no additional information about him. A voter-registration record showed that Mr. Crooks was registered as a Republican, although federal campaign-finance records indicated that he donated $15 to the Progressive Turnout Project, a liberal voter turnout group, in January 2021.

I see that Ann Coulter is asking why there was a “girl” SS Agent. Excuse me? Really, she should've been in the damn kitchen instead of helping TFG put his shoes back on.

Gracious response to the shooting. "As we learn more details about this horrifying incident, let us pray that all those in attendance at the former President’s rally today are unharmed." x.com/SpeakerPelosi/status/1812268746574020870Certainly not a gracious response to the attack on Paul Pelisi: A reminder of how Trump responded when a supporter broke into Nancy Pelosi's home and brutally attacked her husband with a hammer," Pittman wrote, also sharing a screenshot from a September 2023 Politico report. '''We’ll stand up to crazy Nancy Pelosi, who ruined San Francisco — how’s her husband doing, anybody know?' Trump said to a raucous crowd of California Republicans at a state party convention," Politico reported. "And she’s against building a wall at our border, even though she has a wall around her house — which obviously didn’t do a very good job," the former president added. www.rawstory.com/nothing-else-is-appropriate-pelosi-praised-for-class-act-response-to-trump-rally/

Just heard a comment that, ahhhh.., maybe he registered as Rep to vote against TFG in primaries. Like a 20 yr old would think that.

Good lord. I thought I was joking. Should have known they haven’t yet plumbed their lowest deaths. Next thing you know, we’ll hear that the shooter was a trans communist atheist and illegal immigrant, despite all evidence to the contrary.

I just read that he donated $15 to Act Blue in 2021 on Biden’s Inauguration Day. He went 17 then. He registered to vote as a republican when he turned 18 in September, 2021. He was also wearing a shirt with the logo of a YouTube shooting channel.

I think what angers me most is Rs claiming that this whole thing was instigated by Democrats *accurately* pointing out that Trump means to be an authoritarian dictator on day 1. He has said as much. His supporters have voiced their agreement. Project 2025 lays out exactly how they will do it, and indeed, many red states have already gotten a jump on the process. So we’re supposed to tone down accurate, fact-based criticisms, while Rs continue to say that Democrats are baby killers who want open borders, that public school teachers are groomers and pedophiles, and that “DEI hires” are responsible for all failures. All without any evidence except their own fevered imagination. And their response is to openly call for violence in the form of civil war. This is the worst kind of gaslighting. And meanwhile …

Contents of the tweet: 5 months ago, Alex Jones and InfoWars guest Ivan Raiklin discussed how assassinating Trump would be beneficial, according to them, because it would lead to retaliatory “in kind” assassinations of a “deep state” list which includes President Joe Biden.
Ivan Raiklin: “If they [assassinate Trump], option 2, behind Trump, is going to be so much better for us and so much worse them.”
Alex Jones: “I was about as to say, If they kill him, that’s best case scenario from a sick level. From a sick level medium, ‘Oh, please kill him.’ I mean, it’s so good after that.”
Raiklin: “Oh, it’s going to be the best cleansing and the fastest cleansing that we’ve ever seen in my lifetime. I guaran—, I access, with almost certainty, with the highest level of confidence, that if they assassinate Trump, it is so game over for them.”

I just can not get into any of these conspiracy theories; left or right. I'm a registered Republican in a red state with closed primaries. Party affiliation may mean nothing. Most mass shooters are loners. I'll wait.
ETA: red state with gerrymandered maps.

Re the shooter's $15 donation. A 20 something in my life pondered if their was a premium/gift attached to the donation? Because they could see a 20 year old donating when in actuality they are buying something they desire, access to an indie game or something.
Don't know...

we are tragically a gun obsessed society and nothing about this awful incident will change that. I feel particularly bad for the person who was murdered and the 2 critically injured. it is not uncommon for those injured in a shooting to end up permanently disabled and of course, forgotten.

I totally just said this exact same thing to someone on Facebook- did the donation come with a “reward” of some type? The person in turn let me know that the democrats have been planning this all along and I’m blind if I didn’t see it. I let them know that since they chose to insult me I was done with the conversation and wished them a good day. 😂😂😂😂

Interesting how when this happens to a Republican it is “plotted by democrats” as a whole, yet if the shooter is a known Trump supporter they say he was just mentally ill.

I will never condone violence, no matter how much I despise Trump. It's a sad state our country is in right now, and I feel terrible for everyone who was at that rally yesterday and witnessed that. I'm shocked that none of the SS agents noticed a man scaling the side of a building. I wanted to say all that before I say that this is the gun culture that some have created in this country. I was so disgusted when those members of congress wore those disgusting pins. I was also disgusted when everyone was sharing their Christmas card photos of their family and even kids posing with guns. It's disgusting. So while I am also disgusted by what happened yesterday, I can't be shocked by it. And for all of you calling people pieces of sh!t, evil, etc, where the heck were you when Trump was saying those things about Nancy Pelosi's husband while the crowd laughed and cheered? I didn't see any of you condemning THAT. So take yourself off your high horse now. I will never cheer that Trump was shot, and you all need to stop being such hypocrites.

I just saw this post and think it’s well-written. There are many more instances of Trump and other republicans stoking violence (like last week with Liz Cheney) but you get the picture. Not to mention that Trump literally stages things all the time. Upside down bibles in front of churches, waving at non-existent crowds so they can be added in later, and this gem: I hope this investigation is performed quickly and thoroughly.

Dude, nobody’s coming to save us. This is real life, not an Avengers movie. The only thing we can do is vote against T and Project 2025. Bruh, I don’t need an Avenger to save us. I just need to have a candidate that holds high standards, has the countries best interest in mind and can help get a handle on the cost of living. That would be hero material in my book…….if he happened to look like Thor….. well that would just be the icing on the cake for me!

Trump on Nancy Pelosi's husband after he was brutally attacked in his home.:
“We’ll stand up to crazy Nancy Pelosi, who ruined San Francisco. How’s her husband doing, by the way, anybody know?” said Trump in remarks at a California GOP convention.
And then the MAGA crowd laughed.

Honestly, at that age, I place very little weight on things such as the shirt, that donation, or even what party he registered for. Kids do things for all sorts of reasons. Some well thought out and/or meaningful, some to appease parents or friends, and some just for a momentary laugh or dare. I've seen several examples of kids in their teens/early 20s buying things for a reaction rather than due to any care about any issues behind the item. Some like to paint themselves in one way or another, regardless if it truly expresses who they are at that point in their lives. While others look to paint themselves as an enigma--a "never can guess what they might do next" or "never know what they're actually thinking" type of person. I don't think we'll ever really know what caused him to decide to throw away his own life at such a young age by deciding to make an attempt to take another life/lives.
