Really, she should've been in the damn kitchen instead of helping TFG put his shoes back on. I clocked at least three female agents in the security detail. I mean he didn’t get killed or even really injured so I guess those female agents did an outstanding job. I despise anti-women women. The worst pick-me behavior.

www.nytimes.com/live/2024/07/14/us/trump-shooting-electionLive Updates: F.B.I. Investigating Failed Assassination Attempt on Trump The authorities identified the gunman, who was killed, as they investigate the attack on former President Donald J. Trump at a Pennsylvania rally. Two explosive devices were said to have been found in the gunman’s car and a possible third at his residence. President Biden will address the nation Sunday afternoon.
Former President Donald J. Trump vowed to remain “defiant in the face of wickedness” on Sunday as authorities discovered two explosive devices in a car belonging to a would-be assassin who shot at Mr. Trump at a Saturday rally, further roiling the 2024 presidential election.
President Biden was scheduled to make remarks to the nation at 1:30 p.m. Eastern time Sunday afternoon.
Federal law enforcement officials were working feverishly to understand how Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old from Bethel Park, Pa., was able to get within firing range of the presumptive Republican nominee, injuring Mr. Trump, killing one member of the audience and critically wounding two others. The spectator who was killed was Corey Comperatore, according to his sister, Dawn Comperatore Schafer, and a local official. He was 50, according to a post the sister made on Facebook.
Law enforcement officials found two explosive devices in Mr. Crooks’s car and believe they may have found a third at his residence, according to a person with knowledge of the investigation. An AR-15-type semiautomatic rifle found next to Mr. Crooks’s body was purchased by a family member, possibly his father, according to an official briefed on the investigation.

Melania has supposedly released a statement. I am not a conspiracy theorist, but I think it is pretty clear she didn't write it . Personally I think someone wrote it for her and then Trump embellished it. The part about loving music is particularly odd and on brand for him. Also the "ring" instead of "wring" seems classic Trump.

As much as I despise tRump, and wish that he would drop off the face of the earth, this is the last thing I wanted to see happen. His followers are already batshit crazy, this is just the kind of thing that will galvanise them into action. Violent action. I am worried about what's going to happen next. FFS! This is ALREADY violent action. And NOT from Trump supporters. It's way to early to make any assumptions about the shooters motives. And way too early to know if he was a Trump supporter or not. Ironically, he is a registered Republican.

Sorry, but I don't think her command of English is strong enough to write that. I don't think she would choose words like heinous or ingenuity. And it seems really doubtful that she would describe him as a generous and caring man. The part about his love of music definitely doesn't sound like her. The letter was not written by someone who has been mostly separated from him for the last 3 years. Melania is definitely not opposed to using someone else words. Remember the speech at the Republicans National Convention in 2016 when she plagiarized Michelle Obama's words?

It wasn't rape and Biden is credibly accused of the very same thing. Before she came out with it, years after it supposedly happened, randomly Trump's accuser claimed his TV show was her favorite show. How many people that are sexually assaulted love their assaulter's anything? ***Facts, not "the Right's misinformation talking points"He didn't evade, he used legal means to use the same tax advantages that those accusing him of evasion use. ***Facts, not "the Right's misinformation talking points"The same standards you're applying to Trump, have to also be applied to Biden. ***Fact, not "the Right's misinformation talking points"Nope. He never did that. That hoax has been debunked numerous times. At the very least, read Snopes. ***Fact, not "the Right's misinformation talking points"A recount. He was asking for a recount. Completely legal and well within his rights. ***Fact, not "the Right's misinformation talking points"Propaganda. ***MY OWN opinionDid she tell you that, or are you mind reading too? ***A question FROM ME, not "the Right's misinformation talking points"By telling people to go peacefully and asking for more National Guard to prevent what he's supposedly encouraging?🙄 ***Another question FROM ME, not "the Right's misinformation talking points"In case you are wondering why I refer to her as a 🦜 its because her responses above are basically the rights misinformation talking points. ***addressed your bullshit deflecting accusation in red

too soonJo @jojofromjerz The same Republicans who said it was “too soon to talk about politics” after Sandy Hook, Pulse, Parkland, Buffalo, Uvalde etc… have been blaming the Left for the PA rally shooting since the second it happened.

I think what angers me most is Rs claiming that this whole thing was instigated by Democrats *accurately* pointing out that Trump means to be an authoritarian dictator on day 1. He has said as much. His supporters have voiced their agreement. Project 2025 lays out exactly how they will do it, and indeed, many red states have already gotten a jump on the process. So we’re supposed to tone down accurate, fact-based criticisms, while Rs continue to say that Democrats are baby killers who want open borders, that public school teachers are groomers and pedophiles, and that “DEI hires” are responsible for all failures. All without any evidence except their own fevered imagination. And their response is to openly call for violence in the form of civil war. This is the worst kind of gaslighting. And meanwhile … Very well said. Republicans can't have it both ways. If you're condemning violent rhetoric, then let's talk about Trump and other Republicans' violent rhetoric. If you're not willing to criticize Trump for his rhetoric, then you lose all credibility. And stop with the gaslighting. Democrats accurately describing the authoritarian, Hitler like threats that Trump poses are not the same as Trump using words like fight like hell, bloodbath, vermin, poisoning the blood of our country, promising riots, violence in the streets, death & destruction if he's charged, convicted or doesn't get the nomination, warnings of bedlam in the country, terrible things are going to happen, suggesting there might be something 2nd amendment people could do if Clinton was elected and appointed pro gun safety judges etc. Just last week the Republican nominee for governor in NC said some people need killing and there was silence from the majority of Republicans. ABC found 54 cases of violence, threats and assaults that invoked Trump. Not a coincidence. abcnews.go.com/Politics/blame-abc-news-finds-17-cases-invoking-trump/story?id=58912889Republicans are condemning Democrats for accurately describing the threats that Trump poses while they ignore the violent rhetoric from Trump, talk about a bloodless American revolution "if the left allows it", wear AR- 15 assault rifle pins, pose for Christmas cards with assault rifles etc. support Trump & feign outrage
Adam Kinzinger (Slava Ukraini) @adamkinzinger People are allowed to be outraged at the political rhetoric, but not both support Trump and feign outrage.
His violent rhetoric isn’t even metaphoric

This is a sad place our country is in! Peas here jumping to conclusions before all the facts are known, wishing death on another human being. So sad for the hatred in your heart.
With that said: I did not vote for Obama, nor Biden. But I have never ever wished them dead. In fact when traveling overseas we were asked about Obama, our response "we didn't vote for him BUT he is still our president, the POTUS". Do I like how inflation, immigration, etc has effected our country in the 3.5 years? No . . . .
We do not yet have a full report on DJT injuries. We do know now that one spectator was killed, another seriously injured. So this was not staged. There were Secret Service Snipers who neutralized the threat. Perhaps "the call" that those on the ground were waiting for before they moved the former president.
As pointed out, the shooter could have been outside the Rally grounds. We won't know until the investigation is complete. Assignations, unfortunately have been part of history, not just in the US.
I do not write assumptions about those on the other side of the aisle. Nor do I use profanity to describe those in office or Peas here that do not believe as I do. I have purposefully stayed out of the political threads for that reason.

Can we talk about gun safety now? It's the gunsShannon Watts @shannonrwatts Armed security didn’t stop the gunman at a store in Buffalo or a nightclub in Orlando. They couldn’t prevent shootings at schools in Santa Fe, Parkland or Uvalde. And now, even Secret Service couldn’t stop a shooting at a political rally in Pennsylvania.
It’s the fucking guns.

No, it isn't. Pretending that the dictator comment was anything other than sarcasm at the accusation of being a dictator is so breathtakingly dishonest, because I KNOW she isn't that stupid. You also can't take a 12 second video clipped of the actual content that proves Trump meant the economic definition of the word " bloodbath" in order to lose your mind and PRETEND he meant the violent definition, and then stay silent when Carville said "he needs to do the wet work for Biden" or mock people for pointing out Biden says he wants to beat up Trump or that Trump needs a bullseye on him and then he gets shot. Stick with a standard, apply it to both sides. Not just the side you hate. YOU can't have it both ways.

It is that simple, it's the guns. Other wealthy countries have problems with mental health, disgruntled young men, violent video games etc. They don't have the mass shootings and political violence at the level we do because they don't have the same access to guns. unfettered access to gunsShannon Watts @shannonrwatts Every peer nation is home to disgruntled or dangerous men; only America gives them unfettered, easy access to arsenals and ammunition. ONLY AMERICA.

very moving speech from Governor Shapiro regarding the spectator who was killed, denouncing political violence and taking down the temperature Gov Shapiro
ShapiroGovernor Josh Shapiro @governorshapiro This is a moment where all of us have a responsibility to take down the temperature, rise above the hateful rhetoric that exists, and search for a better, brighter future for this nation.
I ask that you join Lori and me in prayer for the two Pennsylvanians still in critical condition, for the family of Corey Comperatore, and for former President Donald Trump.

But they fight shamelessly against additional funding for mental health and against any kind of waiting period, red flag laws, mental health checks before purchase, background checks at gun shows, safe storage laws, etc. They’re perfectly happy with the status quo and they’re the ones who created a country where this can happen so easily - to any of us, not just to cult leader Trump.

This ties together both political discourse and gun safety real conversationJo @jojofromjerz To those on the Right who are suddenly condemning violence and calling for a return to true civil political discourse, welcome.
While we’re at it, can we have a real conversation on guns? Please?

Republicans created a country where any of us can be shot at by a guy with an AR-15 while going about our business in broad daylight, but somehow they want to make this Democrats' fault.
And they'll be interested in actually having a real conversation on guns when pigs fly.

I heard Frank F.. common commentator on MSNBC, said that trump raising his arm in a fist and raising his head was incredibly stupid and if there was another shooter, he could have died.
but trump went for the hollywood moment, vs practical sense and the advice he was given..
