We are technically still on vacation until tomorrow. Our oldest and his wife flew in last week. We went to North Carolina and got back yesterday. We are cramming in some Smokey Mountain excursions today and they fly out tomorrow.
My mom will be here in October and we are heading up to the Smokies for a few days. Other than that we really don't have a lot of vacation plans this year. Our youngest starts his first "real job" next week and will have weekends off. We will be doing a lot of weekend adventures!

For small/long weekend trips I I already did Las Vegas and Newport Beach— I just got invited to La Jolla (never really been to San Diego!) in September and I’m sure we will squeeze in Yosemite or Tahoe plus Monterey/Carmel.

Our family trips were spring break in vancouver (although dh could not make it) and a week at the WA coast last month. Dh also took the four younger kids to FL to see his parents last week. Dh is taking kid #5 to Universal in late August. We also have a bunch of soccer travel this summer, had to go to NY for my oldest’s college grad, and have trips to fly kid #2 to college. On my own, I went to Rome/Florence in February, NYC for a bunch of shows last month, and am going to Amsterdam for four days in August. I also flew to Sacramento for one night for a Noah Kahan concert .

We spent a week in South Carolina on Lake Keowee. Took all the kids and grandkids.
DH and I have our annual Las Vegas trip in August. We are going out early and spending 4 days in Moab.
I have a couple of business trips this fall but no place fun this year.
Looking into a trip to Portugal if we can get it coordinated with some other couples.

Already had them - a week in Riviera Maya in February!
My busy season runs May to October so no real vacations right now. I do have next week with no weddings and we are having DDs engagement party here. And possibly a weekend on my brothers boat end of August.
Then no vacations for 2 years - it’s all being diverted to a wedding fund lol.

My nephew is getting married in August in northern MI so we are going up north for that, Mackinac Island the day after the wedding, then heading further north into the UP (Marquette area) to spend a week. We are hoping to visit Pictured Rocks while we are there, do some hiking around Marquette, and just relaxing and enjoying the area. My middle daughter goes to Northern Michigan University and this is her last school year up there. We haven't spent nearly as much time as I would like up there. It is so beautiful.

Super fun thread. We went to NYC in March while my son was on a school trip. I did a girls weekend in Oklahoma at a friends ranch. Currently spending 3 weeks in Colorado which has been a great respite from the Texas heat. Possible mom friend trip in Sept TBD and then Panama City beach with DH cousin and wife. I retired in April, DH already retired and we will drop off our youngest at college for his freshman year in a month so we will be ramping up the travel. For those who are retired, I’d love to know more about how you plan and prioritize travel time. We are very used to travel being dictated by school schedule and work schedules so this is new territory .

Me, DH, and DD (21) were just off for 10 days at our lake house, so we spent a lot of time in and on the water. We also saw DS (24) and his girlfriend a couple of times, and spent time with extended family. 🥰
A good (similarly crazy) friend and I have 4 trips coming up:
(1) Portland, Maine for a weekend in August to run the Beach 2 Beacon 10K (the Cape Elizabeth race founded by Joan Benoit Samuelson, winner of the first Women’s Olympic Marathon)
(2) Germany in late September, starting in Munich for Oktoberfest, then to Berlin to run the 50th Berlin Marathon, then to Prague for a couple of days
(3) New York City in November to support a few close friends who are running the NYC Marathon… we both ran last year and decided this year it would be great to cheer, eat pizza, and watch OTHER people run 😆
(4) London in late April… to run the London Marathon
I already know I’m deranged 😜

as a retired person, I try to travel when it is off season.. going to new zealand in dec and leaving mid dec (the whole country is on holiday for christmas/new year. go places in spring, fall.. better weather, better prices. travel in nov before thanksgiving.
so it is kind of opposite of school planning. europe in winter or fall..
