But let's be real. I doubt I'd actually read it. It’s a lot of self-aggrandizement for growing up in “poverty”. |

Vance is Trump just slightly younger and just as conceited. Though probably somewhat smarterWrote a bestselling memoir (that I read and regret buying and giving him my money) and attended Yale Law. I heard that as well. But Vance has been really critical of Trump. Like, calling him America's Hitler. So would Trump want someone that wasn't a head-over-heels fan? I dont know. They all cave eventually. It seems. THAT says it all!! |

I expected it would be Vance. It needed to be someone not woke. So no black (Scott) or brown (Rubio) people, no women. Like mentioned, it needed to be someone who has absolutely zero integrity. Someone Trump would feel confident belittling if the person were to ever get "too big for his britches." Burgum is probably too much of an unknown for Trump. He earned his money through legitimate business acumen, which in Trump's mind could make him a threat and may actually listen to concerns from corporate America / business. He seems like the traditional GOP candidate, like Pence, and that was a problem. Vance has indicated he will kneel and kiss the pinky ring, and will sign up for anything if it gets him what he wants.

Also, something people need to know. JD Vance has a business relationship with Peter Thiel and Marc Andreessen, tech bro / Silicon Valley venture capitalists. Thiel was a primary backer of Vance's Senate campaign. They will believe they have bought themselves a President and VP if the GOP wins. So research their businesses and what their goals are. If you want to live in a surveillance state, congratulations, you are on your way. Unfortunately, I now feel we are so thoroughly fucked, I no longer care. The only thing DH and have going us is that we are both in our late 70’s, so we will probably be gone before the worst of this will peak. I feel sorry for my kids and grandchildren.
The Dems have no one to blame but themselves.

It’s well written IMHO, and he is an intelligent and ambitious guy who is clearly now on a path of greed for power over any kind of integrity or ethical position. The fact that he flipped on Trump and some of the other nonsense he has posted just shows you who and what he is. Anyone who will flip like that will flip on any issue or other matter if it is in their best interest. I agree with others that he is a scary choice because he will want to be president and will be 100% about himself. |

This choice is also, obviously, a play to sew up Ohio in the electoral college. Ohio has been so red recently, I think Trump would win, regardless of the VP. Not surprising except for the part that Trump was willing to forgive Vance for his previous criticism. Now, Vance has been spouting Trump's party line and is extremely loyal which is probably Trump's main requirement. I don't think Vance will win over moderates or Independents. The only thing he brings to the ticket is loyalty to Trump, Ohio, veterans and a younger candidate. If Trump was smart, he would have picked Nikki Haley or Marco Rubio who would have added something different to the ticket. |

Trump is definitely going to get a bump in the poll numbers from the convention, VP pick, dismissal of the documents case and the assassination attempt. Regrettably, Democrats will likely panic and put more pressure on Biden to step aside.
