I don’t think all of the speculation and comments saying that Biden can’t win are helping the situation. People need to stand behind Biden as long as he is the nominee and those in power need to keep their mouths shut until and unless he steps down. I want Biden to record a message/video/whatever (drop it Monday AM) saying "I keep hearing I'm dropping out, well I'm not. I do not work for the highest bidder; I work for the American people. PERIOD." Put on his aviators, eat some ice cream, and cut the video. (Also, GFY George Clooney & other wealthy donors.) Our political offices should not be won by the highest bidder.

even the moderate people I know hopped right on board the "Joe and the hoe" memes. She is seen as sleeping her way into her positions and not actually being qualified for them. That is absolutely disgusting. I have never heard that nasty phrase. What is wrong with people? Why is it that strong women in powerful positions are always "seen as sleeping her way into" positions? Equally disgusting and degrading. Why do we never hear of men being accused of "sleeping their way" into power, especially the absolutely incompetent ones, but it's always the intelligent, strong women in power who are accused of this. WTF. Yeah, the correct phrasing in that situation is that one or more supervisors required sexual favors for advancement. Women in that situation are victims, not aggressors.

My concern is not that Kamala is not qualified but many in this country are not ready for a woman President and even less, a woman of color. Kamala is 100x more qualified than TFG ever was. I am worried about that as well. But it has to be KH. You can’t bypass the VP at this point in time. I had concerns about her because her presidential bid was not good. However, she has been provided a lot of opportunities to deal with heads of state and governors here, and it looks like she has found her footing. But will the US vote for a woman? I hope so.

She was a Senator. She led the State Department. And instead we got Trump. It’s hard to believe, even now. KH is more than qualified to run. She was AG of her state. She was a Senator. She is a VP. How on earth does anyone say that she is not qualified? I really do think that for women, the standard is completely different. They’re a little too loud. They’re “pushy,” while men are “assertive.” Will we ever get rid of this double standard?

They’ll pick at their looks too and it’d be pretty hard to do this with Kamala because she is beautiful. They’ll have trouble pronouncing her name because it’s a way to point out that she’s not white. They often can’t explain why they don’t like a high achieving woman. When you challenge them on it a bit, they swear it is not because they are a woman. Then I ask them to really think about it because you should be able to come up with a reason. Ambition is not respected in women. As a kicker from a football team told us, a woman’s life really becomes fulfilled when she becomes a wife and mother. If she ends up the nominee, I am ready to call out the sexist bull$hit.

I'm not against voting for a female president, as long as they are qualified. Hillary and Kamela are not IMO. I'm not either. I voted for Hillary even though I'm not fond of her. I would again if she had been a gracious stateswoman instead of such a sore loser. I would probably have to vote for Kamala even though she isn't as qualified. Hillary had been a senator, Secretary of State and a de facto member of her husband's cabinet, so she had more experience in international affairs. As VP, we've seen little from Kamala. The border was supposed to be her purview and it's a mess. It isn't just speculation and comments saying that Biden can’t win. It's data. Survey methodology may be less accurate these days, but there's still a range of confidence and it's not looking good.

Add me to the list of those asking for receipts, here. I saw this 10 min youtube a couple of weeks ago about what she's accomplished. I enjoyed it bc it does seem like the US doesn't know what she is doing. youtu.be/DJeltMiTZXo?si=xld24__zPduImAvR
They don't think she has accomplished anything. What I hear is she was in charge of the border and that's a mess and the reason they don't think she is effective. Then there are a lot of moderates that just plain won't vote for a woman. They are not going to go looking for what she has done.
Personally I think they should have been shouting her accomplishments for the last year or two knowing this was a possibility and if not for 2028.

When it came to immigration Kamala was tasked with working with the countries where the majority of migrants were leaving to see if the US could help these countries make things better for the people so they would want to stay instead of heading north. Hence the trips she took south to meet with the various leaders.
Early on they figured out that wasn’t going to work.
The security of the border has always been under Homeland Security.

I literally saw an entire video about her laugh. A lonnnnng compilation. So the woman laughs for real, without a sneer or derisive look. She is willing to be seen experiencing joy. How the hell is that weaponized?? I can’t believe I still have amazement in me.
In general with this thread and so many others…. I keep reading this stuff. “Ohhhhh… it’s not meeeeee… I would vote for ____. But “Americans” won’t”… well. My grandmother “had no problem” with black people. But “some people did…” She made a point to tell me that when we dropped off Avon products at people’s houses, the only house we didn’t go into (even though we were invited) was a black woman’s home.
I’m all for disagreement, but dang. Own it. And quit saying and reinforcing and “normalizing” ridiculous crap. It is not acceptable.
Either run Harris or don’t. Quit talking about the “some people” that won’t vote for a black woman, a woman, or a whatever. Maybe THEY won’t. But if you signal your support rather than the constant negative repetition of some random “Peapolitics wisdom” maybe, just maybe, “some people may surprise you. We have woman governors. Gay ones, black ones, a black VP. A woman that won the popular vote for President.
I was a never Hillary voter, and I sure as hell don’t want to vote for Biden. I was furious that more Republicans didn’t support Nikki Haley.. I know y’all didn’t like her either, but idc, anyway. I’m stuck voting for Biden, or Harris or who ever and believe me- I’d rather Harris’s laugh than the well rehearsed Scranton Joe act.
Also, discussing the “replace Biden” issue, the Pea narrative is that that is stupid and doomed to fail etc… yet politicians who literally go on record with their paying jobs and real names consider it a valid discussion.
The voters didn’t have a chance to speak. The party line was no one runs against him. People literally voted uncommitted to signal discontent with his handling of Israel/Gaza (intentionally didn’t say Hamas.. Mass killing still happening- 39,4xxPalistinian deaths, 89,xxx wounded. Mostly women and children and rising.)
As far as “Republicans” aren’t talking about replacing their guy… they did. In the primaries and unfortunately that disgusting man still won. Hopefully choosing Vance as VP will hurt, and he’s an outspoken a**hole too.
If democracy is literally, truly on the line- y’all better walk in that Black Woman’s house. Befriend her, if she’ll have you. And make it seen. Don’t do a driveway drop. Be an example rather than a finger wagger.
And I think it’s gross that someone felt the need to retweet about a woman (any woman) adjusting her underwear, pantyhose, pad, tangled bush, wtf ever referring to it as “scratching her balls.”

I was wondering who they planned to run if not Biden
I just don’t think VP Harris is strong to beat Trump. Unfortunately, some people won’t for a woman and sadly some won’t because she’s a woman of color. I hate that because neither should matter but it’s the truth.
One of my coworkers said she would never vote for a woman to be president because we are too emotional. I was actually shocked that a woman would say this.

My thought on this is just STOP giving the "some people..." excuse any oxygen. Stop with the "some people won't vote for a women," or "some people won't vote for a gay man" blah blah blah that prefaces the "but that's the reality," "that's the truth," yada yada yada EXCUSES. IMO, every time we say these kind of words, we are implicitly giving people permission to hold these beliefs. Stop using this an excuse not to get behind anyone who stands a fighting chance to beat Trump. Let's start proclaiming, "I WILL vote for a woman candidate" and this is WHY. Stop making excuses and start demanding better from yourself and everyone around you. Climbing quietly down my soap box now.

Biden did a very good job but I feel that in the last two months something happened to him, he suddenly look old and frail and Trump doesn’t . I will vote blue no matter who but to win this election we need young people to vote and most of them cannot relate to Biden in this stage of his life so I believe that our chance to win are higher with someone else .

There are only 2 choices in this election. And only 2.
A is trump B is President Biden.
If you vote for A you”re voting for trump. If You vote for B you’re voting for President Biden If you don’t vote, you’re voting for A If you vote 3rd party you’re voting for A.
If trump wins it will be totally the voters fault and absolutely no one else.
If trump wins and he puts this country through hell, which he will, it will be the voters fault. And no one else.
If he starts WWIII, which he very well could since he seems to be in Putin’s pocket. It will be the voters fault.
IMO this is the highest stakes this country has ever had to face in an election
As far the young people that Biden is losing. Well let me put it this way. If trump wins they will have to live a lot longer with the misery he will create then I will.
The information on what kind of man he is, what kind of thugs he surrounds himself with, and what they plan for this country is “out there”. All they have to do is open their baby blues and look at what’s staring them in the face.
Its that simple.

I very rarely reply in any of these political threads, but I read a lot of them.
I also preface my comments with the fact that I live in the US (as a legal green card holding resident - just in case anyone gets picky), and therefore care about the outcome of the election. However, I am a not a citizen. Therefore I do not vote. My reason for not becoming a citizen is more about my immigration process that anything else, so don't get stuck on that either.
If I voted, I'd 100% be a democrat. I don't support Trump, and I sincerely hope he doesn't win.
That being said, Biden is not a strong advocate. He's too old, and it shows. What will he be like in 4 years? Will he even be alive? However, he's the face of the presidency, and certainly has a team behind him. So, could he do it. Yes. He's not making major decisions alone.
I'm not a fan of Kamala, but again would vote for her if she were the choice. There are too many people in this country who are not ready for a woman president though. Add in the color of her skin. She won't win. Pull it together USA and see beyond the outside. I think those same people may not vote Biden in the case that he passes, and Kamala becomes president.
Dems picking a new candidate make them look weak all around this late. There's no real win here. I think Biden has to run. I will be hella stressed out on election day. I worry about the aftermath as well. A lot.
I think this should be a sign to the country before the next election. You have to be a certain age to run for president. I believe there should be a max age as well. What that is, I'm not sure. It's worth talking about.

Do the young people even know the history of Gaza? Another media and tik tok and etc. campaign of lies and everyone is going for it...bots, it just sucks I think some do, but others could be more informed. Two of my 3 boys (22 and 24) know exactly what from the river to the sea means and the history behind it. I think some of the college protestors were underestimated. Sure, maybe some were swept up in the heat of the moment and are not informed. But, I would hope students at elite and Ivy League colleges who risked being arrested or expelled are educated about the history and situation in Gaza.
