I'm not against voting for a female president, as long as they are qualified. Hillary and Kamela are not IMO. I'm curious as to why you think she is not qualified. She has a law degree, a degree in political science, a degree in economics. She's been vice president for 4 years. She was Junior senator for 6 years. These are just the things I can tell you off the top of my head as an Australian. She seems more than qualified to me.

I've read some of the criticism of her. I've seen women complaining she isn't a mother- why would that matter! I believe she has been involved with step children? But again why does it matter?
I do worry that she doesn't seem to have much presence or charisma ( not that I think TFG has any!) seeing the intentions of Trump clearly laid out in project 2025 I would vote for a crisp packet rather than him.
Does Biden have to return the money he raised if he drops out? I've seen YouTube 'psychics' and Tarot readers stating emphatically that Biden is going to win, which I'm worried will make some complacent and not vote. I can't believe the viewing figures of some of those videos!
I'm obviously not American but I'm worried sick about Trump getting back in. The whole world is relying on sense prevailing in this next election.

I agree that Kamala is a tough sell. The one speck of hope I see is that Trump choosing Vance was an idiot move because that is going to alienate all but the most Kool-aid drunk women. Vance's views on abortion and saying women should stay in abusive marriages will alienate less extreme Republican women as well as the rest of the normal female population. I think Team T is so drunk on the prospect of their vision of the future, they did not think strategically and are underestimating the fury of woman having their rights taken away. When I look at all the women at Trump rallys I sit there bemused. I've seen women interviewed, talking about how 'kind' Trump is. Do they even listen to the vitriol and violence dripping from his tongue? Why don't they care about women's rights, so hard fought and lives lost to acquire? Why don't they care about their daughter's and grand-daughters? All the talk about abortion- where is the discussion about forcing men to take responsibility for the seed they sow? Where is the supposed support for all these unwanted babies? Have these pro- lifers even looked at the levels of child abuse and filicide in America? I had hoped that this issue would keep Trump out, but I'm no longer convinced. I wonder how many abortions are related to Trump and his promiscuity? Trump openly states he will look after the rich but those who say they are struggling in your current economic climate think that equates to him looking after those at the other end of the political scale? It just doesn't make sense to me. When I saw people wearing diapers to support trump and now wearing gauze or whatever on their ear- I've literally never seen anything like the clown show that thrives around Trump. Where has dignity and maturity gone? These are adults 😩 If Trump gets back in I'm quitting all social media and I'm going to switch off any news programme that starts to report on him. I cannot listen to that voice again if he gets back into power. It's not even my election and his voice churns my stomach. There's also the concern around what happens if he doesn't get back In-the last debacle was a mere toe in the water of what's to come in my opinion.

When I said qualified, you took it as literally. I get it. It's not what I meant tho. I was looking at it from a different angle.

Not picking on you personally, but I am so damn tired of hearing this! My thought on this is just STOP giving the "some people..." excuse any oxygen. Stop with the "some people won't vote for a women," or "some people won't vote for a gay man" blah blah blah that prefaces the "but that's the reality," "that's the truth," yada yada yada EXCUSES. IMO, every time we say these kind of words, we are implicitly giving people permission to hold these beliefs. Stop using this an excuse not to get behind anyone who stands a fighting chance to beat Trump. Let's start proclaiming, "I WILL vote for a woman candidate" and this is WHY. Stop making excuses and start demanding better from yourself and everyone around you. Climbing quietly down my soap box now. You said it better than me, without being me- and I appreciate you. I cannot understand why people keep normalizing this. People who supposedly abhor misogyny. I only mentioned my fear that people would not vote for her here and as I mentioned, privately to DH. I haven't said it aloud to anyone else. But for me, it's just that--a fear. I'm not trying to normalize it anymore than I am trying to normalize the loss of reproductive or LGBTQ+ rights if people keep voting in republicans, which I also fear. As far as I'm concerned democrats have already proven that they will vote for a woman, because Harris is in office now, and as VP, we voted her in knowing she could become president if need be. But no matter who is the democratic candidate--even if it remained Biden, I have always been concerned about the independent voters and the republicans who truly dislike Trump. They are wildcards and I don't know how they think or what prejudices they may have. I was concerned that those same people wouldn't vote for Biden due to his age in conjunction with the idea that he is now unwell or frail. But I wasn't attempting to normalize ageism if I opted to voice that fear aloud. No matter who is ultimately chosen to be the new candidate, (including if Biden had remained the choice) I will still have fears that Trump may be re-elected. And anything I may say about votes going to Trump for any reason are just that--fears.

When I said qualified, you took it as literally. I get it. It's not what I meant tho. I was looking at it from a different angle. I don't understand any of this. First you said it was just your opinion--and I imagine most people would read that as it being your opinion that she isn't qualified for some reason. But then next you say that while you did choose to use the word qualified, you didn't actually mean "qualified". I'm left with no idea what you meant in your earlier post or in this one. And while it's certainly not your problem that I don't understand, one typically posts on message boards so their thoughts & opinions can be heard, and one would think that would include wanting people to understand exactly what those thoughts & opinions are. And it seems I'm not the only person scratching their head right now.

My problem is that people like you often use “not qualified” as a euphemism for “female,” “black,” “outspoken,” “successful,” “liberal,”or a combination of all those things. Typically you can’t name a single policy position or action that you disagree with. I can back up my opinions, negative or otherwise, with facts. If I’m wrong, tell us what you meant by unqualified.
