Hi everyone! I am getting super excited for my Ontario girlfriend and her husband's visit! They arrive late tomorrow night ... I will be vacuuming my car and installing a gadget to hold my phone up on the dash for navigation because I don't like my Jeep one! I filled up the Jeep with gas and I'll clean out the back so there is room for their suitcases ... I think think the spare room is ready to go ... it is also a bit of a pantry and storage room so it will never be a perfect bedroom but it is big so I think it will be fine! I'll be taking my Calgary girlfriend to see a condo in about an hour ... it is in a really nice new neighbourhood ... is probably pretty small but she's resigned to that fact - finally! Dinner is rechauffe fresh ravioli ... This is what I posted on Facebook the other day ... I LOL'ed here by myself super early in the morning (still dark out) It's going to be a scorcher today so I'll be hibernating inside the house for the remainder of the day ... I know that many of you are dealing with worse! How is your dh doing **GypsyGirl**? How are you doing bklyngal62? Someone else posted that they were not feeling well the other day and I responded and now I can't remember who! Know that I'm thinking of you! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

It hasn't been as hot here today as predicted, but it's still humid, which makes it unpleasant.
We had a lovely night out last night - as we approached the restaurant, one of the waiters saw us coming, smiled, then welcomed us so warmly. As ever, the service and the food were excellent - there's a reason this is one of very few restaurants we still venture into the city for, now that it takes nearly an hour with public transport in and out. I also found a new soft drink/mixer - one of their special drinks was a basil gin spritz, and they brought the bottle of the basil drink to the table. I is a local Munich company and they make 3 flavours - basil/ginger, cranberry/rosemary (to mix with vodka or a cosmo)and pineapple mint (to mix with rum). They started out trade only, but now sell direct to customer, so I've ordered a 6 pack of each. Today has been low key - DH mowed the lawns early, as rain was predicted and we went shopping, though it wasn't a normal 'big' Saturday shop. DH is off to Lisbon in the morning, so we don't need as much food as usual for the rest of the weekend and into Monday.
Dinner tonight is lamb steaks, fried potatoes and caprese salad.

I have fucked around all morning. I hate feeling like I'm wasting time. Today I'm blaming you leannec 😂 it got to be 10 am and I was like, I'll just stay in PJs a little longer, the dinner thread will be up at 11 and then I'll shower. And I kept checking. And I kept checking. And then finally it got to noon and it wasn't up and I was like, get your ass in the shower! You can't wait any longer! No excuses! 🤣 So I've just gotten out of the shower. I am not blaming you Leanne. I fucking hate to shower. I have a terrible mental block with showering. I have to force myself in there every day. It's bipolar. So basically I'm clean. I'm going to strip the bed and put the sheets in. Jeremy is out shopping. I was too lazy for the farmers market this week. So he went to his favorite store. 12 different kinds of pizza rolls and 76 sugar laden cereals. But do you think they carry whole wheat pasta? Nah. Just shit food. I think I'm going to make some BBQ burritos with homemade rice and peach salsa. I'm going to throw my sheets in the wash. I need to read a bit.

I even spent some time cleaning in the basement yesterday. it is a mine field. when the other room is cleaned out. I am bringing pictures upstairs to hang in the room.. including a painting of my dad as a young man. his cousin painted it.

sueg, please tell your dh to say hi to my bff and his hubby in Lisbon. I miss them so much. Your dinner date sounds just lovely. I can see why you enjoy going there. To be welcomed so warmly and openly is a treat nowadays. You deserve the nicest moments. leannec, It's so nice to hear your excitement about your friends visiting. What do the three of you like to do when you play tourist? When does your friend have to move out of her current place? We took a walk through our farmers market. Dh bought corn and a fresh bagged lettuce salad. I could have purchased half of the fruit inventory if I was still eating. They had great looking cauliflower, but at $4 per head I took a pass. Not sure what dinner will be. Dh is deciding. We have enough tomatoes that I think I"ll make my fresh summer bruschetta. I'll have to get extra bread, so that I can give some to our dear neighbors. In that case, I'll make a pasta dish, to go w/it. Dh needs to choose, because he's the one eating. Right now we are watching Blazing Saddles. Dh turned on the tv and it was playing. It's such a fun movie, but there's no way it could be made today. I love Gene Wilder and Mel Brooks. Today I'll do a grocery pickup and then just putter today. I do have vocal practice and I'll find an enjoyable thing.

Hi friends! Not sure what we'll have for dinner tonight.
Lab work results came in this morning. Glucose and vitamin D levels were lower than what should be normal, so I'll wait to see what my NP says either via the patient portal or at my follow-up next week. Sigh.
We finished season 4 of The Sopranos last night, so at some point, I need to get to the library before it closes and get season 5.

rymeswithpurple, low vitamin D is common. It can also make one feel very fatigued. That could explain your feelings of being run down. You're one step closer to answers. jeremysgirl, I give you universal permission to relax in your pj's anytime you want to do so. It's the weekend. That means R&R. You work full time. You deserve to do whatever you want to do or not do on the weekend and after work. We all need downtime. Bruschetta should be it's own food group. It's so yummy.

Good morning tribe! This morning, instead of our usual walk, I decided to try something I've been wanting to try for years: water aerobics! So we headed to our sport's club before 9 and I took the hour class in one pool while DH swam laps in the other pool and used the spa and read his book. I LOVED it. DH was amazed at the intensity for 55 minutes without a break. I'm going to try to go every morning if I don't have schedule conflict. I do need DH to hunt in the garage for my water shoes. Dinner will be pot roast with potatoes, carrots and onions. I know everyone will get this!

Michigan is pretty damn fantastic...😂 Little chilly in the winter. 😉❄️ I have good friends from my single Sunday School class in Baton Rouge who live in Grosse Pointe Woods. I was supposed to be in their wedding and got very sick. Luckily a cousin of hers was my size and became a bridesmaid in my place. I've always wanted to visit them in Michigan. We did see them about 8 years ago when they were in SF leave on a cruise to Hawaii. We met them in SF for lunch.

This morning we made a trip to see YDS for a bit. I got to see my two English Mastiff grand dogs and came home covered in slobber. I love them but man do they drool.
I managed to book a cool little cabin for our short ATV trip in a couple weeks. We lucked out because the resort had a cancellation and they were willing to let us book it for only 2 nights instead of a week. My mom will dog sit Walker.
Tonight we are going to friends for a barbeque. We are providing the steaks and they will provide everything else. He’s an excellent cook so we’re happy to have him prepare the steaks.

We were out and about this morning so we could make it home before it got too hot. Went out for breakfast then stopped at Walmart and dollar store to pick up a couple of things. I can't believe how hard it is to find crumbled goat cheese (we like it with our salads) and 3 bean salad around here. We have been looking at different stores around here since we moved and have had no luck.
For dinner we are having a salad with strawberries, cranberries, pecans and poppyseed dressing.

I am sorry you are having trouble finding things too. I think there really just is a different market all these stores are catering to. I can get almost everything I need at the farmers market. Couple of things I need the health food store. But neither of them carries anything like Stouffer's macaroni and cheese or cherry coke and Lord knows these are almost at the level of food groups for Jeremy. 😂

Have you tried Target? It seems like it is only available in some of our Targets, so maybe it is also sold by a market where there might be more people to buy certain products by where they live, such as in our city we have military bases, stores by them, seem to have certain items you wouldn't find at the same name retailer that is completely across town from them. You could go to the Target site and type in crumbled goat cheese and it will tell you if it is available at any store near you.

bklyngal62, I would think that Trader Joe's would have crumbled goat cheese. Is there one near you? cadoodlebug, I love any sort of aqua therapy and exercise. It's fun and takes so much pressure off of your joints and bones.

It sounds like most of us are having a relaxing day. It’s a beautiful day in PA. I do some housework and weeding. I have some perennials to plant but I’ll do that this evening. cadoodlebug you got caught my interest about the Alex Kava books on the reading thread so I’m going to relax on my porch with the first Ryder Creed book.

Had a great time at my cousin’s daughter’s, bridal shower. Pretty sure I won’t be eating dinner because we had great salads and fruit and pasta dish along with roast beef on kimmelweck , which is a western New York staple lol. She got some really nice gifts two of which were handmade quilts. One was made by her future grandmother and the other was made by a very close friend. They are beautiful. But the most special was a Betty Crocker cookbook that her mom bought probably 12 years ago. She actually bought three of them one for each daughter. She then had her mom, their grandma, write a note to each of them in their own cookbook. Their grandmother was in the early stages of dementia at that point and my cousin really wanted them to each have some from their grandmother. She died 2 to 3 years after their oldest got married.
The other thing that was really cool was a collage of pictures in like one of those picture frames that’s got eight places for different pictures. Foor if the pictures were of her as a baby and the other four were of her fiancé as a baby. Oh my gosh, it was so thoughtful. Gave me an idea for a gift if there’s more weddings down the road.

jeremysgirl I think you're right. There's a lot of things here that were easy for us to get in NY but not here in South Texas. snyder I haven't tried Target. I'm going to look online and if there's some there I'll just have to make the 30 minute drive to get there. Only groceries store by me are HEB and Wal-Mart. scrapmaven We loved Trader Joes but the closest one to me is in Houston

Stopped and got a mani and pedi after the movie with a hot stone massage and paraffin wax. My arms and legs feel so smooth now.
My parents got a gift card for Olive Garden and want to go tonight so I'm taking them. I'm sure I'll get the soup, salad and breadsticks that I normally get. it ain't fancy but they like it.

We wound up having pasta for dinner. DH made the sauce, but thought it was too acidic. He likes to let his marinate throughout the day when he makes it for potlucks (pun not intended).
We are going to try to not speed through The Sopranos tonight, since we only have 2 seasons left. I think Boardwalk Empire will be our next show. Other suggestions welcome!

What do the three of you like to do when you play tourist? When does your friend have to move out of her current place? We are doing some of the REAL Calgary touristy things when they are here ... her husband has never been to Alberta and she hasn't been here in almost 25 years! We are going up the Calgary Tower and will eat in the revolving restaurant ... going to visit a wolfdog sanctuary in Cochrane ... going to the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller (dinosaurs) ... spending a day in Banff ... going to a dinner theatre evening ... I am going to be TIRED! But it will be FUN! We found my friend a place today so if she is approved by the landlord she will move on September 1st ... she has to be out of her place by November 1st ...

I used to do Aquafit at the community centre until we bought a townhouse with a rec centre that has a pool and gym. You can do laps but what I do is stream Spotify on my phone and wear water gloves to give my arms resistance in the pool. I splash and walk around for 40 min or so in the pool then I am too tired to walk home but do it anyway. Then I fall asleep. I love water fitness and I hope you do, too.
