I'm curious how much caffeine the peas typically consume and how it makes you feel. Has anyone stopped consuming caffeine? If so, what did you notice in terms of energy levels or other symptoms? I used to drink quite a bit of diet mountain dew but gave that up several years ago and was primarily drinking a few cans of Zevia a day (about 40mg caffeine each). In the last 9 months or so I have been also drinking way too much fountain diet coke. I am always tired, especially around 1:00pm and am trying to convince myself that the diet coke is probably making this worse instead of helping (maybe a spike then a crash? I'm not sure, but at any rate it isn't healthy). What are your experiences with caffeine and how it affects you?

I have caffeine 1x a week with a iced coffee or Mexican coke. All other coffee I drink is caffeine free. I make my own at home either hot with my coffee maker or with instance to make iced coffee. I have Dysautonomia and POTS so I have to super careful with caffeine. It can cause a tachycardia event and make me feel dizzy and sick. I have to drink a lot of water prior to the coffee or coke and then more afterwards so I don't have any issues. It is my treat on infusion days.

I drink about 12 oz of cold brew when I get up. I then drink caffeinated iced tea all day long and into the night. I never drink water because our well water tastes like butt and I feel guilty buying bottled water. Brita filtered water doesn’t taste good to me either. If I get really thirsty, I drink a can or two of plain seltzer. I never have trouble sleeping.

One (small) cup of coffee between 6 and 7 am. If I drink a 2nd cup of coffee I get jittery/ and have heart burn the rest of the day.
I don't notice a difference if I don't drink coffee, my DS did a science experiment where I had to not drink it for a week, and I didn't notice any difference.

Long ago, Diet Coke was my poison of choice. It was my morning drink (a large cup) and also my lunch time drink. I would have it at dinner time if we went out to eat. Now, I drink either cold green tea or a cold brew, about 8-10 ounces, in the morning. And then at lunch I'll have an iced tea. I don't drink caffeine after about 2PM. I haven't noticed any problems or changes in my sleeping. I stopped drinking caffeine later in the day more because of my GERD. I did go about 2 months without any caffeine at all. I did have headaches and brain fog for about a week.

I have one or two Keurig pods in the morning and the rare afternoon Diet Coke. That’s it because I get jittery if I consume too much caffeine. I don’t have anything caffeinated in the evening.

I have 2-5 glasses of unsweetened iced tea a day and usually one large fountain diet Coke, plus water at bedtime and after exercise.
I should drink more water and less tea but I like tea.

I usually have one Coke Zero (or Dr. Pepper Zero) a day. Iced tea 4-5 days. Caffeine doesn't really bother me too much. If I am on an iced tea kick and have more than one or two in a day, then it might mess with me going to sleep, but I usually don't drink that much.

Decades ago I used to drink 3-4 cans of Barq’s root beer a day. At one point I decided all that caffeine probably was a bad idea (plus I didn’t like how caramel coloring in soda was staining my teeth) so I switched to Sprite. I quit cold turkey and had one massive headache for about two weeks straight but I powered through because I was determined to give it up. Other than trying one “health drink” years later that DH convinced me to try (I only tasted it, it was awful, and I had to look at the VERY fine print to find out that it was loaded with caffeine) I haven’t had anything with caffeine in it since.
I still get tired in the afternoon sometimes but that’s mostly due to not sleeping well at night more than anything. Daytime tiredness can also be due to dehydration so if you’re not getting enough water during the day that could be part of the problem.

A teeny tiny bit - I have a large decaf iced Dunkin every day; so I can't say "none" because there's a little caffeine in decaf drinks.
I absolutely cannot tolerate completely caffeinated drinks - I'm already high strung; it sends me straight to panic-land.

My only source of caffeine is chocolate. I gave up soft drinks entirely 12 years ago and haven't had a sip since. I never really drank a lot anyway. I would open a 16 oz coke and take a few sips a day and finally throw out what was left on about the 4th day. There were two foods I loved Coke with - pizza and hamburgers - so it took awhile to stop craving a soda with those. Now I don't think about it at all.
I had no issues with stopping but as I was consuming so little anyway. I drank a lot of soda growing up. I cut back severely when losing weight my senior year in high school. I've never liked tea or coffee so I just never got hooked on caffeine.

i have stopped drinking caffeinated soda for the most part. once in a long while i will take a sip from DH's drink but i don't do the 32oz cups anymore.
i have never been a caffeine coffee drinker. sometimes Starbucks will do me dirty and i will be be up until 3am. clearly DECAF in the order means nothing to some people.

One KCup every morning. That’s it. Once every 2 months or so we go to lunch at a local Italian restaurant that has a nice raspberry iced tea. Sometimes I order that.
That’s the only caffeine I consume. Mostly I drink water plain or with some flavor added. I also drink caffeine free Diet Coke. It’s my biggest weakness.

I gave up caffeine in 2015- and then the pandemic hit and all good habits went out the window
I currently have a half or a whole mini Coke (7.5 oz) a few times a week. Working on eliminating that as well, but today was not that day!
Like any change, it takes some getting used to. I miss the fizz most of all, but I can take one sip and be fine.

Trace amounts in the green tea that I have daily and that’s it. I gave up caffeine about 10 years ago and don’t regret it a bit.
Is your crash after lunch? It could be a spike in your blood glucose after eating. That’s hard to avoid if you are sensitive to it and unmedicated. There’s a reason why a lot of cultures embrace an afternoon sieste!

I mix decaf and regular coffee with a ratio of 4:1 and have about 3 cups per day. So that's less than one cup of straight regular coffee per day.
I might have 1-2 diet cokes out per week. Other than that, it's water and some iced tea (which has about 1/2 the amount of coffee).
I do find that if I drink iced tea past about 7 pm that it might interfere with my sleep.
But if I'm out with friends and we end up at a coffee place and I have a couple cups of regular coffee- or double espressos- I am zinging!

Hi, my name is Becki and I am a coffeeaholic. I drink about 30 oz of caffeinated coffee in the morning. And I switched my 30 ounces in the afternoon to decaf. When this bag of coffee runs out I have decided to only drink decaf 100% of the time. And I don't even know why it took me so long to do it because honestly, with my bipolar meds I feel nothing. There is no caffeine boost. I have gone many days with no coffee at all and I don't feel a thing. So I have decided that I don't even know why I'm drinking regular. I like coffee. I can drink decaf.

I open 1-2 cans of Mtn Dew per day, and drink about half of each can. I use a caffeinated energy drink as a chaser when I do whiskey shots, so a few swallows once or twice a month. I don’t drink coffee.
Caffeine doesn’t keep me awake, but I do use it as an energy boost sometimes.

I have never had a cup of coffee. Many many years ago, I tried it a few times, a few different ways. Nope, no thank you.
Now tea is my friend. For the last 50 ( 😳 ) years I have drank unsweetened tea daily. Like about 2 quarts a day. I drink water when I go to exercise class. And when I want it for hydration. I very rarely have soda. If I do, it’s Vernors.

Many see tea as water because it is made with water! My cardiologist and nutritionist said to count any tea I drink towards my daily intake 😁

I drink a cup of coffee in the morning and usually an iced tea during the day. I honestly don't think caffeine affects me at all. I can drink coffee before bed and go right to sleep anyway.

I have two cups of coffee in the morning and have had that habit virtually my entire adult life. Always caffeinated. Never decaf.
I don't drink sodas of any sort. Never really have. Just don't care for them.
I will occasionally have "sweet tea" (what we southerners call iced tea) with a lunch or dinner meal away from home -- maybe twice a week?
I can have coffee after dinner at night without it bothering me at bedtime, but I rarely opt for that evening cup unless it's been a very fancy meal. Some nights I will do a late night cup of tea before bed and that doesn't bother me either.

I was told to cut down on caffeine last year when I had my A Fib episode. I’ve been really good avoiding it. Only have decaffeinated coffee, cut out Diet coke and chocolate.

One cup caffeinated in the morning plus one cup decaf. I used to drink several cups of caffeinated per day with no discernible effects for most of my life, but as I’ve gotten older and my blood pressure started going up, I cut back.

I don't like coffee at all, so have never gotten caffeine that way, and I also don't like carbonated beverages, so only have a little amount in the odd mixed drink. I do like green and black teas, so have probably 4-5 a week.
I have ADHD, so having tea in the morning/afternoon helps me settle in to do whatever work I need to do. Tea in the evening isn't my friend, though--it makes it hard for me to sleep!

In college I was a king size snickers and can of coke at 8 am breakfast for calculus class girl.
I've had anxiety my WHOLE LIFE and never really connected the dots. When I got pregnant with my DD in 2010, I quit all caffeine except for chocolate. Anxiety still hung around but not near the level it was!
Now, in the morning I have decaf chai or decaf earl gray tea in my 18 oz Simple Modern Kona to go cup followed by at least 40 oz of water in my Simple Modern Trek. The other day I split a coke with my DS (8) and holy cow did I feel it! I wanted to go to sleep but at the same time my heart was POUNDING and I could feel the anxiety creeping around.
So very weird.
I don't remember having any withdrawals or headaches or anything like that.
Sometimes I will have a coke and then I regret it but it tastes SOOOOO good- ice cold and fizzy.

I drink hot tea. Usually 2-4 cups a day. With milk and sugar in it. Black tea only, no flavored tea. I used to drink 6-8 cups a day, but cut back a few years ago, trying to have less sugar.
I've been drinking hot tea since I was about 2-3 years old (my grandmother gave it to me, back then). Hot tea has always been a part of my daily life. If I go more than 9-10-ish hours without a cup of hot tea, then I start to get a headache from not having hot tea(caffeine).
For me personally..... a cup of tea and quiet time, is necessary part of my self care.

I have 3 or 4 coffees per day, sometimes more on the weekend. My last coffee of the day is usually between 8:30 and 9:30pm, sometimes later on the weekend.
Caffeine does not affect me at all. I can have a coffee right before bed, and still fall asleep straight away.
