Harris's social media team is really doing an amazing job and if they continue keeping them engaged, I hope the energy continues to climb. She has permission from Beyonce to use Freedom, which is basically an endorsement from the Queen herself. People are hoping for something similar from Taylor Swift. Even if TS doesn't endorse her, there are SO many remixes with her music and the Coconut tree reference. Charlie XCX has called her Brat, and the SM team changed her website to brat colors (which I didnt even know was a thing!). That shows they understood it was a compliment and are speaking the language of the youth. George Clooney (asshole) has endorsed her, so I guess that's good since he wanted Biden to step down (why do we care or give GC any power on this subject? I suppose he's a donor...). I follow the guy who plays Hawkeye on TT (Jeremy Renner?) and he is constantly posting about this topic, and I LOVE IT. While I do not think a celebrity should be the reason you vote for someone, and they should not have a say for the entire country, the endorsements draw attention. This will be another example (from the other thread) of "Liberal Elites" when something is said, like Jeremy Renner (he's also the MC in Mayor of Kingstown) endorsing Harris. TS had an article in 2020 that came out with why she was endorsing Biden/Harris and has publicly called out TFG. I would think a formal endorsement of Harris would be forthcoming from TS after the DNC. But who really knows? But, hey, the Conservatives have Kid Rock, so there's that. Don’t forget about Hulk Hogan and the bald lady with the tattoo on her head that spoke at the RNC. Can’t remember her name but I think she is supposed to be a celebrity.

Does congress not have the ability to project slides to support its speeches? The poster boards are funny but kind of ridiculous.
Otherwise, hard agree.

@revbirdusa I just have to say… I appreciate the post a few back FINALLY making it make sense about asylum vs asylum. Omg- that has to be right. That statement and the blind following of it has bugged me for a very long time. It made no sense (much like many other statements…) but sooo much of the MAGA doubling down on it just is hilarious, because it’s the only way to tie the two together. Wow. Thank you for that. wish I had posted it initially, but aj2hall posted it.. and it is great!!

J.D. Vance is Trump's Sarah Palin. And we all hope she will have the same effect on his campaign. We almost certainly would have had president McCain if not for her - which was not what I wanted at the time, but seems a darn sight better than any Republican in the current candidate pool.

I saw something on Twitter to the effect that it's nice to see the medial now consistently referring to a woman in her 50s as 'young.'

Today I have spent sooooo much mental energy trying to figure out if Trump doesn’t know the difference, or he assumed many of his cult don’t know the difference… either way, I think it’s hilarious. And sad that Trump fans will likely never admit it. Have a good afternoon!

Clearly they need a crew of public school teachers in there. Most of them manage presentations with electronics every day.

Vance has another issue coming out .. the man who cares so much for children... Or so he says, no he says women should all be home while the men work.. no need for childcare?? A bipartisan bill that would provide much-needed federal assistance to moms-to-be, which was being hammered out between the staffs of Sens. J.D. Vance (R-OH) and Tim Kaine (D-VA)(corrected by me), stalled out because the man Donald Trump selected as his running mate cut off talks. According to a report from the Washington Post's Jeff Stein, the bill would have limited childcare costs by reining in insurance companies slamming parents and new mothers with "co-pays or other expenses related to childbirth." As the report notes, at about the same time that the Donald Trump campaign began serious vetting of possible running mates, Vance's staff quit returning calls from Kaine's office, putting the bill on hold. Stein is reporting, "Vance’s team started working with the office of Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) on the bill in June 2023, talks stopped this June and have not resumed, leaving the fate of the legislation unclear after Vance’s nomination to the GOP ticket, said the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to reflect private conversations." www.rawstory.com/jd-vance-women-2668808094/

He did stop a solution. All she needs to do is point to the bipartisan plan that was in place and say they’ll pass that as soon as Trump is no longer pulling the strings in his party. And of course, we can also talk about why the border “got really bad” from two angles based in reality. One, quality of life and safety in several countries has been declining, forcing people who don’t necessarily want to leave their homes to leave. Two, Abbott stirred up unnecessary violence with his border stunt AND encouraged more people to come by promising them free bus rides into the interior is the country. Of course, Trump voters don’t tend to care much about reality. But Dem voters should. I also strongly believe that republicans continually saying the border is “wide open” led more people to come.
Of course it did and they know it. Biden has always said it was closed and not to come.

It is so weird as after she spoke she supposedly said that she supports LGBTQ+ and thinks the republicans do to.

It is so weird as after she spoke she supposedly said that she supports LGBTQ+ and thinks the republicans do to. That's because, depending on who you ask, Republicants do love LGBTQ. At least, that was one of the reasons they were so defensive over the GRINDR app having crazy activity during the RNC.

Republicans are definitely having buyers' remorse over Vance. I love that for once the Democrats outmaneuvered them, intentional or not.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump dumps Vance and tries to blame him for anything that goes bad with the campaign. But I hope if he does that it turns into a sh$&tshow for republicans.

Can he now that it has been officially done (not sure if the proper term) at the RNC? On Reddit, someone mentioned a VP candidate dropped out in 1972, he had electric shock therapy for depression and I guess they didn't vette people as well in the 70s, so when it came out, they were afraid he would relapse and he stepped down: Replacement on the ticket On July 25, 1972, just over two weeks after the 1972 Democratic Convention, Eagleton admitted the truth of news reports that he had received electroshock therapy for clinical depression during the 1960s. McGovern initially said he would back Eagleton "1000 percent". McGovern consulted confidentially with preeminent psychiatrists, including Eagleton's own doctors, who advised him that a recurrence of Eagleton's depression was possible and could endanger the country should Eagleton become acting president.[17][18][19][20][21] On August 1, nineteen days after being nominated, Eagleton withdrew at McGovern's request, and after a new search by McGovern, Thomas Eagleton was replaced by Sargent Shriver, former U.S. Ambassador to France, and former (founding) director of the Peace Corps and the Office of Economic Opportunity.[22]A Time poll taken at the time found that 77 percent of the respondents said "Eagleton's medical record would not affect their vote." Nonetheless, the press made frequent references to his "shock therapy", and McGovern feared that this would detract from his campaign platform.[23] McGovern's failure to vet Eagleton[15] and his subsequent handling of the controversy gave occasion for the Republican campaign to raise serious questions about his judgment. In the general election, the Democratic ticket won only Massachusetts and the District of Columbia. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Eagleton#Replacement_on_the_ticketI cannot imagine JDVance would step down even if his new favorite person asked him to, esp since I think Theil wants Vance more than he wants Trump... but I am not sure what "excuse" they have to ask him to step down anyway.

Just thought of something. All those childless people, by choice or not actually contribute MORE percent toward schools and all other services/taxes because they don't use the services or get deductions. They pay for the others' childrens' education!!!
