What do they expect to do with all of the supplies? I try not to judge. Honestly, for the people who buy it all, my guess is that many of them do so because they are heavy scraplifters. In my 25 years of scrapbooking, I've noticed that there really are a lot of people out there who want a cut here, stick there, write there formula. So I think this is really what's driving many of them. Do they just have an album that showcases the supplies rather than the photos and journaling? People do this hobby for a lot of reasons. I have gone through all kinds of phases. Ones where it's about recording memories, then onto being uber creative and artsy, to it's all about the photos. I realized when Esther died that the layouts I liked best were the ones with the stories. So since then, I'm not near as concerned with the supplies or even the photos. I take the necessary photos and then I put my camera down and just enjoy the activity. Honestly, I took two photos on Christmas day last year. That was light even for me, usually I'm somewhere around 8-10. But that's all I needed to tell the story. Or do they just collect it all and just enjoy seeing it all on their shelves? This I have a very hard time not being judgy about. Everything else I can let fly. But I'm big on consumerism and the environment and the idea of buying things just to have them kind of makes me shake my head. ETA: I have my vices too. God help me with acrylic yarn. I can't find a way around it.

I am like in love with those mixed up ones. Same! I just love those. There are a few things from ES that I might pick up. But I need to go through my albums and remind myself of what I use and what I don't before I even buy AE tomorrow.

How are people quoting posts from 2014? I'm so confused.
Anyway, my list is BIG this year, bigger than it's probably ever been. But I have 2 high school seniors off to college next year, December is going to look very different in 2025 (sobbing quietly in the corner). 10x8 Album 4x6 Album + extra page protectors Main Kit Mini Kit Felt Numbers Large Vellum Shapes Scalloped Squares Die Cut Pack Chipboard Phrases 10x8 Paper Pack 10x8 Transparencies Envelope Set Die Cut Paper Inserts Gold Foil Numbers Phrase Sticker Sheets
Maybe Pile: 6x8 Transparencies - There is one I REALLY want, rest meh. Gold Foil Circle Labels
Thank goodness the stamps, stencils and silkscreens do nothing for me.

I usually end up buying more than I'll use because I want choices, or I want one item but have to buy a whole big pack.
I'm not feeling DD yet this year, so my guess is that I'll go light tomorrow. Planning on doing more hybrid / digital this year anyway.
My list: Scalloped tags Big die cut bundle 10x8 transparencies
Maybe: Tis the season chipboard Alpha + numbers stamp Big felt numbers

To be honest I think the AE team does a great job marketing the products in a way that makes you want to Buy it All lol. There’s no way I would use all that stuff and I have a huge stash from previous years. However seeing the products in use with the mocked up layouts & the stamped images makes me want it all. I actually think the Elles Studio collection is more my vibe and I love the colors but I need to see the products in use before I buy them, not months from now. I would probably buy their whole collection if the marketing was better.

Here's a link to their old blog: shopellesstudio.blogA lot of their Christmas products are similar to years' past, you can scroll through their Document December posts from over the years to get inspiration on how to use their new products, too. I'm a huge fan of their look and have used their DD products for the past few years. The 2022 PL I did using exclusively their stuff is one of my favourites, too. It's such a clean look.

Some people save throughout the year and this is their big splurge. Other people can just outright afford a big haul. I find judging people on what they buy or how much they spend weird. "Too much" means something different to everyone. Some people would find it wasteful to spend as much as we do on paper, dies, inks, etc. How a person chooses to spend their money has no impact on me (unless they owe me money haha). I can't afford the buy it all bundle and if I could I probably wouldn't get it because there are things in it I wouldn't use, so no need for me to spend that much - but if someone else wants it and can afford it, who cares? You're right, of course. I know that what I have in my scrap room (accumulated since 1998) would seem like too much for some. I learned a lot from the Stash class, and I'm trying to set up a system so that my old supplies get used along with the new. I do think that some people buy much more than they can ever use and then get overwhelmed with all of the supplies--and like honeypea suggested, having lots of stuff doesn't always equal creating more. I guess I just don't understand acquisition just for the sake of acquisition. Maybe it's my upbringing. I grew up in a very poor family, so I treasure the things I can afford now that I'm older. If I have too much, I can't appreciate what I have. But...we are all different and have the ability to make different choices.

I am, too. I don’t understand folks who are upset that there isn’t a “buy all” option. What do they expect to do with all of the supplies? Do they just have an album that showcases the supplies rather than the photos and journaling? Or do they just collect it all and just enjoy seeing it all on their shelves? I’m trying not to judge since I overbought SB supplies in the past. Even now, after developing my simple style, I like to give myself choices. I will probably spend about $125 on this project and have some stuff leftover. That probably seems like a lot to some people, but scrapbooking is very therapeutic for me. I just don’t understand a desire to spend $600 + on a December Daily project, which is what several people on the FB group say they’re going to do. I don’t need that much therapy! I don’t remember who it was, but a couple years ago a pea here shared that they’d learned of a scrapbooker (maybe a podcaster) who would buy so much DD supplies that it would fill an entire raskog cart, and she had a separate cart for each year. And she’d never even completed an album. Am I remembering this correctly?!?! I think about that every time I’m purging or looking at new things to buy. I don’t want to be like the raskog DD hoarder. YES you are. I don't remember the lady's name but she and another lady had a podcast and were perhaps guests on another podcast talking about DD, and yes, the gal was a little embarrassed about it but she had a cart per year and I think she had at least 5 full carts with 5 unfinished (or barely started?) albums. Her hobby was clearly buying and organizing craft supplies. I don't know how she felt about not actually having any scrapbooks to show for all this collecting, she did identify herself as a scrapbooker. All I could think about was the waste of resources and space, and the incredible burden when one day she runs out of space and has to decide what to do next - sell? donate? hide all the stuff in a storage unit? buy a bigger house? start and finish 6+ albums? If she's happy, OK. But I didn't actually get the sense that this situation was making her happy. It definitely wouldn't make me happy, so maybe I'm just projecting. To each their own 🤷♀️

So today, I went looking for a Christmas travelers notebook. And I found one on Etsy. It is a little 4x5.5" size bound in red leather with embossed holly leaves. So that's it. Me and my mini Christmas this year (I'm currently estranged from my family) are going to be documented in a very tiny way. I'm so sorry about the family estrangement and hope things get better. Your tiny red leather TN sounds delightful and perfect for a mini Xmas. I hope you'll share pictures or a link!

Ali just announced on IG they have a DD Bundle. It does not include kits, albums or lifestyle items. But everything else. Will be interested to see the price tomorrow. I'm always amazed at the amount of people who are prepared to buy absolutly everything in a DD release. Do these people not have mortgages to pay for? Children to feed? It's such an enormous cost.
Me! I have a mortgage, children and pets to feed, 1 in college, 2 more on the way. I save and budget for DD. It's a big deal for me. This will be my 7th or 8th year completing an album. For me personally, if I wasn't finishing an album, I would hesitate to buy as much as I do. I take all of my free time in January and play away, makes the bitter cold month more manageable (Minnesota). I do end up using a shocking amount of product as I love to play and get creative with this project. Most of my pages are out of the page protector which leads to more product usage it seems. I do remember one of the first kits Ali released through Studio Calico. It was like $50 or $60 (WITH an album), I was shocked at the pricetag and could not justify buying it.

marg it’s definitely a shame the blog is gone. I follow them on IG I did scroll through hashtags to find inspiration from years past but I shouldn’t have to seek it out and there wasn’t much. I mean there isn’t one single picture or reel showing the actual full sheets of paper in the paper pack. Just an edge in a fanned out flat lay. Come on. Anyway Idk what I will do. The collection is very nice, I like the simplicity of it, and I would spend way less money than on all the AE products I want. I can’t really pair down what I would buy from AE lol. I went way overboard last year and don’t want to do it again.

The base of my junk journal has gotten way out of control. I think I can easily use the same journal for this year AND next, LOL! I don't know how it happened. I had a plan, and then I just added waaaay too many pages.

I was just pointing out that they used to have a blog and there may be something you like on it. They never had anyone but Meghann Andrew do YouTube videos, and while I love her, it always just seemed like she was doing a video she would have done anyway, not that Elle's Studio asked her to or used her for inspiration. I wish they did more, for sure. It's like the owner wants to prevent new customers or something.

I just took stock of what Christmas stuff I have and it literally fits into one of those 12x12 plastic paper holders (the ones from Michaels) I have figured my list. Album, main kit, paper pack, die cut pack and specialty cards. I might get stuff later during the boxing period but I doubt it.

After a lot of back and forth, I think I’m going to go with mostly Elle’s Studio this year. I’ll probably get the tree album, and mini kit from AE. I’m considering the advent calendar for the first time. Since I’m not planning on picking up a bunch of embellishments this year, I might actually get good use out of the stickers. We’ll see what the morning brings. I also want the scallop tag, and gold circle sets.

That’s still my reference point for DD. I bought one kit in 2013 or so, a bit of a splurge. Actually I just pulled apart that album because the cloudy page protectors grossed me out and it took up too much space for what it was. Those SC products were not my favorites so the finished album didn’t really appeal much to me. I reworked it into a notebook that takes up less space and I’m going to RAK the upside down star album.

There's also the fact the shipping cost are 29 dollars overseas so you'd better get your money's worth. I do think we're more temped to buy things.
Eta: I'm not sure if I'll buy anything. Those prices are crazy to me.

I didn't see anything from AE that I have to have... I considered an album, but I hate having to punch extra holes in my PP. Instead, I placed an order at SB.com and got the EP Santa album for $13, extra PP, and some of Paige's new Halloween line for our upcoming trip.
I'm not sure how my DD will look this year since I'll be working on a trip album and usually can't have 2 big projects out at once. I'm definitely pulling from the huge amount of leftovers from previous years though instead of buying a new line. Maybe I'll blow through it all and need new goodies next year... hah!

I wish Ali would bring back the solid red pleather album for DD. Looking back at my DD albums, that one stands out as my favorite. I would buy several and do a replace of some of my other albums that have fallen apart.
I realized last night that if I was just going to order 3 items, the $13 shipping doesn't make much sense. Re-evaluating this morning and going to decide at 10:00 whether I want more or none!

Exactly this. Everyone has different income/budgets/lifestyles... as someone who has been in very different income brackets in different parts of my life, and someone who works for the government in taxes and sees a lot of other people's income/expenses, I am very cognizant of this fact. As long as everyone is happy with their purchase then I am happy for them. If someone has a credit card debt problem or a hoarding problem and is feeling overwhelmed, that is a different story, but you cannot tell purely based on what people buy. And, personally, I think people who have real problems wouldn't advertise it online because they are likely ashamed.

carolynhasacat Totally agree about the red pleather album. I think it would sell well enough to keep as a shop item. I really wish they would do some more linen albums. Those always seem to sell well. They won’t do a Halloween album but black linen seems like a safe bet. The album selection in the shop is pretty slim right now.
