To the Peas who have been part of our collective Icelandic Christmas obsession (the Yule Cat! the Yule Lads!), let it be known Hallmark is leaning into the Icelandic holiday folklore for one of their Countdown to Christmas movies this year! The Christmas Quest (premiering December 1st) features Lacey Chabert and Kristoffer Polaha as a divorced couple heading to Iceland together due to their professions (archeologist and expert in Norse languages) to search for the legendary treasure of the Yule Lads where their quest turns into a race to find the treasure before it falls in the wrong hands. So. Excited. About. This.

What the fudge?
Hallmark+, the streaming platform, will premiere a reality tv competion show to find the next Hallmark Christmas movie star called Finding Mr Christmas. The winner stars alongside Jessica Lowndes in a brand new Christmas movie this year. For those wishing to subscribe to Hallmark+ (not available to Europeans 😭), the series is set to premiere on Thursdays in October (no exact date known yet). It's so silly and I'm so giddy! 🤩🎄

I had to share this with people I know will understand. I just finished my 2021 Christmas album. I'm hoping to be caught up before this season starts.

I was in a stressed funk last year and didn’t do a DD. I’m so excited about DD this year that I’m toying with putting a simple one for ‘23 together before December now. Is that crazy? I’d probably use a CT 4x8 album I already have…. I’m quoting myself here because I’m so happy to say i *did* start a 2023 a few days after posting this, and yesterday I finished it! There are only two little things to do - I wrote about how we unearthed our old Christmas dishes and enjoyed having those to use during December - I need to snap a photo of said dishes once we get them out of storage again, and just pop that picture in. And I have a little dangle charm hanging at the spine I need to add a Tim Holtz hook thingie to so it lays better, once I can remember where I put my little box of hook thingies. 🥳

There are three new items in the Sale section of Ali’s December Daily store. White felt stars, a silk screen bundle, and a 10x8 Santa album.

Oh hello, LFF (Little Foster Fail). Whats your name?! You are precious! Twilly joined us this summer and was an instant foster fail. She's super sweet and funny. We joke she has a bit of dachshund (long back) and a bit of giraffe (looong neck) in her. 😍 Can't wait to photograph her in all things wintery for DD! I’m watching Pam’s DD idea videos on Ali’s blog. I just absolutely love her. She has such cute ideas, I love her style, her voice and demeanor is so soothing and enjoyable. Pam is such a great teacher with a wonderful sense of creativity, hard agree. 👍 We did a DNA test on Hope. She has 9 breeds. I guessed 5 of them lol. She has shih tzu, dachshund, American cocker spaniel, Chihuahua, Maltese, Poodle, Pekingese, Pomeranian, Lhasa Apso. She also has the long back and bootie of a dachshund. It was quite fun to do and we waited for a sale.

My mom keeps telling me to take stuff whenever I go home. I think I'll add this to my list. She's crazy. I swear one christmas she's going to give everyone a pack of sticky notes and tell them to mark what they want. My grandparents did that. I quickly marked the paintings my grandma did as mine. They now hang in my home ❤️

I was disappointed it was missing when the sale stuff first started. I have hated the introduction of 10x8 since it was first introduced, but when rewatching DD videos the last few weeks it’s really grown on me. I’ll keep it for a future Christmas down the line.

They must’ve ordered a ton of those santa albums. I feel like they’ve been in the sale every year since the release and in the sale section throughout the year.
10x8 is a great size for DD imo. I did it once for WITL and I don’t know that i would do it again.

The AE team is really killing it this year with the inspiration. Close those darn boxes already! I have been a crafting maniac lately. I'm on track to finish my cards and felt ornaments by the end of September, fingers crossed. Felt ornaments have become a standby gift for those impossible to buy for or when I don't want to spend any $$$. As my SO and his family are Mexican, they are getting these beauties this year: Poshta Designs CalaveraMaybe this year I can get foundation pages done!

karinec those ornaments are so pretty! I've loved Lizzie's work since her PTI days.
That $10 10x8 album is very tempting because of the price. I'm having a hard time figuring how I'd use that big size though. If I recall most people work outside the page protector in those albums. Maybe I'll stick with my plan to order from Citrus Twist when they have their seconds sale. Maybe?

Angela Kinsey from the Office is in a Hallmark movie!!! I'm SO excited about this year's Countdown to Christmas. Hallmark has just revealed the full list today and I'm looking forward to many of them. There's even a '90s Christmas movie! I came here to see if anyone was talking about this yet... I was excited to see the countdown and can't believe it starts Oct 18. I didn't see the one with Angela Kinsey, that will be fun. I esp like the on location ones, looks like a Finnish one. I'm going to read the more in depth descriptions now... Also - I don't do DD, but I realized I have a lot of supplies regarding cocoa and festive drinks, so I was thinking of doing some sort of mini album for that. Now I am thinking of somehow combining this with watching the movies and including reviews/favs/etc. If not a separate album, it will get folded in my HP documenting.

But I love it for WITL and will likely continue doing it!

The Tuesday sale items are up! A 6x8 Traveler’s Notebook set (with stamp!), 3x8 transparencies, and trims.

I added the 3x8s to my box. I prefer last year's set to this years and I love making pockets out of the transparencies. The box needs to close already.
FYI on the travelers notebook set, I ended up with 2 last year and both notebooks were misprints (pages upside down and backwards).

I have that IACB stamp & 6x8 journal set. For $11 it’s worth if for the stamp alone. As for the journal, just an FYI - the paper they used is so thin it’s criminal. I was absolutely flabbergasted when I first got it.
My intention was to unstitch (the binding is sewn, not stapled) the book to use the papers in my album. Which I have done - but thd pages can’t be outside the pp, it’s too thin. I think vellum has more integrity than this paper. It needs to be in a page protector or backed to something sturdy.
Very cute designs though. And the cover is really good heavy quality. I’ll use it for something at some point (referring to the TN cover, not the green felt one).

I agree about the IACB notebook/cover/stamp. It was on sale last year, and I picked it up for the stamp alone. The paper in the notebook is flimsy, but I purchased it knowing I probably wouldn't use it as a notebook. Looking at the components, I wonder if I can repurpose the green felt to make numbers or trees or something. I don't really care for it as a notebook cover.

I did use several of the papers from the notebook, I filled them out then tucked them into a pocket style page. Worked pretty great. Die cutting the felt is a good idea!

What final items are you all contemplating adding to your box?
My maybe list since day 1:
Die cut trees (I bought the die but the die cut ones are bigger so can’t decide if I want them too) 3x8 Transparencies. Love what Pam Baldwin did with these! Advent Calendar Wood Stars
I bought so much already, but that was the first few days and I have held off other than stamps on the final pre-order day.
What are y’all still thinking about?

I’m considering the wood stars. I have the open style ones from last year, so I’m not sure I really should buy more. I have actually used quite a lot of them, but there were so many in the package that it’s barely made a dent.

I just checked what’s in my DD box to make sure I hadn’t already added the stars and just forgotten and realized I have FOUR albums in there. 🫠
Red stars & tree 6x8. Then I added the sale starburst album, and the old 10x8 Santa album.
Yeeeeesh. That snuck up on me. 😬

My still considering list includes: Big thin number stamp Die cuts tree and/or metal tree die cut - both of these were on my mind earlier but then Denine coerced me in to the tree stamp so I don’t know that I need THAT many trees (plus all the ones in the main kit).
I think I basically bought everything else so I’m good 🤣
