Update #2: I still feel like crap. It’s a roller coaster. I feel like I’m getting better and then BAM, I feel awful again. Mostly chest congestion, headache and loss of smell/taste. But my biggest worry is that I am a super-spreader. The sub that was working with me on Monday has it now as well as a few of my kids. I should have known I was going to get it. I did hang out with my SIL the night before she tested positive. I tested negative, but it was too early. And I felt fine….until I didn’t. I started feeling crappy at school but just thought it was because I was exhausted (I was) and hot (I was!). This new variant is no joke…it is SO contagious. I am REALLY mad at myself. If I wasn’t on such a time crunch (being hired just a few days before school started with a COMPLETELY empty room), I would have been more cautious. Update: I have Covid. It’s hitting me HARD. It’s the 2nd day of school, but my principal is amazing. I just have to rest up and feel better. I love my job…I have to many updates. But right now…sleep. OP: So I told you a couple of months ago that I was taking a break from teaching to work on my TPT and pursue some other things. I’ve been working hard and making good growth. I was also looking into some other opportunities. And it’s been pretty great…I like being my own boss. Until yesterday. My former principal (from my 1st job here in Santa Barbara) had to add a TK class last minute. And she buttered me up. I mean full-fat, organic, expensive butter. How could I say no? So on MONDAY (in 4 days) I will be teaching a class of 21 4 and 5 year-olds. And this morning, my sister-in-law (roommate) tested positive for the big C. She just got back from Hawaii on Monday night. We did hang out in the living room together last night (sitting on opposite ends of the couch) for a couple of hours. So….please send all of your good juju. I CANNOT get COVID right now. Ugh! OK…off to unpack my little kid stuff….

You do really seem to enjoy teaching in person. Good to know that your TPT can also be a side gig. Enjoy your school year.

Sometimes good things just fall into your lap. You can go into this job knowing that if it doesn’t work out you have a fallback. And isn’t it a wonderful feeling to know that your talent and work ethic is sought after? Bountiful wishes for a great school year!

Oh my! Sounds like a great opportunity for you and I'll send a prayer out that you avoid covid! That would be such a hassel to start the year out that way. With so much for you to do on such short notice, then have to gain your strength back from being ill, will be tough. {{{hugs}}}

Good new bad news: Covid is highly contagious and is running rampant in your state. This is a milder strain and if you did catch it you'd likely be OK. I will think healthy thoughts. Enjoy your little ones this year.

Wow, last minute! But, at least it's what you've taught before so you do know that age and how to work with them. You'll be great! (which the former principal must have realized since she sought you out. Fingers crossed that covid passes you by!

I hope that you are able to dodge covid.
Covid is running wild in Texas. My niece is a teacher's aide in the Houston area. School opened, she worked 3 days and has covid. She learned yesterday that the teacher and the other aide all have covid. --This new strain is VERY contagious apparently.
