I would be a lousy Texas mom for sure. That every time I hear/see "Stanley Cup" I think someone is talking about NHL hockey doesn't help I guess.

This is in my niece's district so I'll have to see if she is going to do a Stanley mug.

I like this trend more than the $1000+ mum trend.

Those are cute. I've adore mini "things".
But, why Stanley Cup; why not any cup?

Very cute! If that was a thing in my area, I would want one.

I'm thinking in about 3 days, my DD will be asking for one lol. She's not into the big mum trend. If I make her one, I'm sure I will for her besties too.

I like homecoming and I like bling so I give it 2 thumbs up haha.
(Never even heard of mums before here, and Stanley cups are only mildly popular where I am - but I love the idea)

Hmmm. I don't get it, but I admire the commitment to a tradition.

I was very fortunate that my kids went to a performing and visual arts high school with no football team. No football means no homecoming and I never had to construct a mum. I've always told them I'm an Amazon Prime mom, not a Pinterest mom.

At first I thought mum was being used in the context of mom LOL
Cute and WAY smaller than the huge ones the girls wear.

I get all excited that someone likes/wants to talk hockey and then ... Nope Also, when one googles Stanley Cup, Lord Stanley's Cup should be yhe image one sees.

So, of course I had to google homecoming mums and garters. They are hideous! The Stanley cups are much nicer. Don’t girls wear pretty gowns for homecoming? Because if they do, the huge mums totally hide them.

I think they are pretty cute, similar to the "mum rings" dd found on Pinterest last year.

Ok TX moms, some mum questions: Would it be a correct assumption that there are places for the moms to special order them, if they’re not crafty? Actually, why is it the mom who’s responsible for the thing? Can you just take your kid to the mum-making store, give em the cash, and let them do the thing? I’m sure it’s been explained ad naseum over the years, but someone please fill me in

There are businesses that make them, sometimes as a fund raiser. I don't know too many of the details because so far my kids haven't been interested in them.

I love the mum tradition in Texas! My kids were born in Texas, but went to school in Florida and we don't do that here.

I’m sure it’s been explained ad naseum over the years, but someone please fill me in I recall seeing racks of mum accessories with the names/colors of local schools in Michael's one time. I imagine that yes, you can probably special order (for a high cost) handmade mums from crafty people. (You inspired me to look at Etsy, and yes, there are people selling custom mums at a variety of costs.) They're less popular here in the city anyway, but I've been under the impression that having a large and very nicely crafted mum is a bit of a status symbol. So one might not wish to be seen in a mum that doesn't meet certain standards. IDK, though. As I said - never had to make one.

I went to Texas for a DMB concert and it was during football season. We were staying with friends who had sons in HS at the time. The mom was telling us about the mums. I think at that time I had already seen them on here. This was in the way back time. We went to HL to see the rows of items to make your own. Me being the crafty person was just in heaven and thinking of all the possibilities. However, next door in AR we don't do mums. This was either in my DD's soph or jr year. When she made homecoming court I wondered if this could be done. I realized how much work it would be and nixed that idea.
But those cute minis?!?! I would so be on board with those!!
And for a Stanley Cup. I own several. Of that style and none are Stanleys. They can be purchased for much less money and work just as well. Please don't ask me to say how many I have.

Because if they do, the huge mums totally hide them. They wear the mums to school that day, the pep rally, and the game. The homecoming dance is different and they do not wear the mums with their dresses to the dance.
