Good morning.
We're finally off on our little trip today. Thank you so much cadoodlebug for hosting the thread while I'm away.
Dh is going to have a chicken sandwich from a place he enjoys. What's on your menu?
What's everyone up to today?
Tearisci, how is your dad? Did he pass his stone? I'm thinking of you.
May today bring everyone reasons to smile.

I was racing around here at 8am to get my place ready for the cleaning person who will show up at 9am! I didn't have a lot to do but I did have a few things ... Then I need to make a deposit at the bank ... I am meeting a friend for lunch ... not sure where yet! Dinner will be something from Hello Fresh ... shrimp with noodles maybe since I didn't have it the other night. Have a great time on your getaway scrapmaven!

Have a great time on your trip, scrapmaven! It looks like my dad has passed his stone and he's out of pain. He's really out of it though and told my sister that he's been in the paint shop since 5:30 this morning. He's not aware of where he is so I'm guessing they still have him hopped up on the pain meds. The nurses are supposed to do their rounds this morning and then they'll call and let us know what's going on. Hopefully, he can come home today. No idea what dinner or lunch will be today! I'm working on reports for work so it will be a busy day! Hope you all have a great day!

I was racing around here at 8am to get my place ready for the cleaning person Yes, I am doing that as well this morning. My housekeeper will be here at 1pm. Hopefully, he can come home today. I hope so too. I have three additional meetings yet to go today. I hate meetings. But it'll be alright. ETA: Tacos for dinner. Meat for Jeremy and black bean for me.

I’m babysitting grandboy #3 today while his brothers start their first day back to school. The little will start tomorrow which will be a big day - ride on the school bus included.
It was a brisk 9 degrees C this morning but will warm up to 23 by this afternoon. Fall is in the air.
Supper will be grilled pork chops.

Happy Tuesday that feels like a Monday Dinner friends! scrapmaven- enjoy your getaway! I hope you enjoy and savor every moment. Tearisci and **GypsyGirl** I hope your loved ones are healing! leannec my housecleaner comes next Tuesday- I scramble that morning too. DH thinks I'm crazy, but she does a better job if she doesn't have to move stuff out of her way. I had a nice relaxing weekend, I actually did some scrapbooking. DH is at the ranch until tomorrow or Thursday, so I hope to do some sewing today. My Grand Daughter asked me to embroider a sweatshirt for her, I've procrastinated all weekend, now it time to finish that up! Dinner will be some chicken tenderloins that I thawed but haven't cooked, I'll make that with some veg for diner. Wishing everyone a great day!!

Have a wonderful getaway scrapmavenThat's a ton of meetings jeremysgirl - I suspect that makes it hard to do any actual work No cleaning person here except me but yes, I'm scrambling to catch up on housework also. Dinner is super quick and easy tonight as we have a zoning board meeting to go to beforehand and I think it's likely to run late. So tomato soup and goldfish it is...

Thank you so much ladies. Tearisci, glad to hear that your dad passed his stone and that he was able to make that early morning trip to the paint store. More drugs, please! Hopefully, he can come home today and heal in his own house. My cleaning lady comes Friday when I get home. HA! Ods is working out here full time and will be staying at home and avoiding the commute.

Happy Tuesday! Having a bit of a slow morning but really need to kick it into a higher gear. Stopping at Costco for gas and a couple of items on my way to the hospital. Will visit with DH until 5 pm, then I'm meeting BFF for an early dinner at a restaurant not far from the hospital. Looking forward to catching up with her. DH is doing well still. He's already called me this morning which is always nice. Today they switched his meds from IV to swallowing the pills/liquids and he said it went fine. All these little steps forward are adding up! It seems the hardest part is going to be getting him off the vent at night (he has severe sleep apnea). He's going 12+ hours during the daytime already. Enjoy your trip scrapmaven! Dinner tonight is reservations! Most likely I'll have the gumbo or chicken fried chicken.

I missed yesterday so I’ll have to catch up. I went to the lake because dh returned home from his office and brought Covid. I haven’t seen him since a week ago Sunday. Hopefully I’ll avoid it. He has mild symptoms as the usual for him. I am always really sick so I just don’t want to get it. I need to hit the grocery to determine dinner. My yard looks like fall so I’m cleaning out some stuff from my garden. Enjoy your trip scrapmaven

Happy Tuesday! It feels like I have been gone forever. We got back from our vacation late Sunday night. Had a great time but I was ready to come home. 10 days is definitely my limit. I stayed off social media the entire time I was away and it was so nice. Hope everyone has been good while I was gone Yesterday was full of laundry, grocery shopping and visiting MIL in the nursing home. Today is a full day in the office. Dinner is going to be hamburgers on the grill and asparagus.

Good evening, Today was busy by my recent standards. I walked up to the grocery store before lunch and spent the afternoon baking. DH has had a team working long hours this week with an IT rollover, so he asked me if I could make cookies, so I did - 4 batches of ANZAC biscuits, so about 120 in total. So far I haff be e been good and not eaten any. I also spoke to my friend to sort out details for meeting up before her Family Court meeting in the morning. Dinner tonight is cheeseburgers, and I mean that literally. DH is going to grill soft, herbed cheese patties and the serve them in buns with the usual burger accompaniments. Healthy vibes for those who need them and have fun on your getaway scrapmaven.

ETA: Tacos for dinner. Meat for Jeremy and black bean for me. Not sure if you like Chipotle but I got pretty good at recreating their vegetables they use for the veggie items (red onion and bell peppers). I sauteed the sliced vegetables in a little olive oil. Salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cumin. Then when most done, add in juice of 1 lime and a little zest. Adds a nice punch of flavor to the black beans, lettuce, tomatoes, and rice I add to my soft tacos, tostadas, or burritos.

**GypsyGirl** and anyone else interested. Here is the recipe for my satay sauce I mentioned yesterday. The recipe uses chicken, but I look it with pork as well. The method isn’t shown but it’s simple - mix everything except the meat, then marinate the meat for at least an hour. Drain off the meat and cook - we usually grill - and put the marinade in a saucepan and simmer until it is thick but still pourable.

Hi friends!
I had my allergist appointment last week and thought I'd provide an update on the saga that has been my recurrent infections (and apologies if I posted this before - my brain is wonky sometimes): she thinks it may actually be an immunodeficiency, so she had me get a handful of labs done (still waiting for those results). She also changed my nasal spray and allergy pill. She doesn't think allergy shots would be useful since they're seasonal allergies and we're out of the season for those now anyway. The allergist also mentioned that if it is indeed an immunodeficiency, it's possible that just having a vaccine/booster could really help. Hopefully the labs will come back soon. I didn't expect to have them overnight since I got them done on Friday and the long weekend.
I also got to spend Saturday with my best friend and her husband. We realized at lunch that we've known each other for 17 years (half my life). I'm so lucky to have had a best friend for that long. My other best friend and I have known each other for 12 and married for almost 8. We went to the science center in the morning, lunch and some shops, and then finished the day at the Poe Museum.
Apart from that, not much going on here... Dinner this week will be roast and a veggie.

I am home from my most excellent adventure....trying to get caught up. I am just back from a 4.25 mile hike in the woods with my DF...my feet are hurting as I neglected to put my orthotics in my hiking boots. My afternoon will be spent in the chair in my yard with my feet up. Dinner will be grilled chicken drumsticks, corn and a salad.
My trip was great...we biked from Avignon, along the Rhone down to Aigues-Mortes... Biking around 30kilometers a day, with a day of over 40k There were of course walking tours and lots of history lessons in there as well. The barge was nice...air conditioned thank God as it was HOT...some days over 90 degrees... food was amazing 3 course dinners every night!!!
Getting back to Paris to get home was a TRIP..as the Travel agent "didn't know how" to book our train tickets, so we tried when we got there and there were no seats left...finally got a train to Nimes, where we had to take a taxi to the bus stop ...had to wait there for 2 hours (in the dark with rats scrounging for food as company) for the bus we booked, that took us two towns away, then had to wait another hour for the bus we booked to Paris....at least this was a major bus stop well lighted and lots of "people" (interesting to say the least) The bus to Paris was over night...which didn't get us there till after noon😱😱😱. Then the God awful taxi ride to the hotel by the airport...the drivers app had him going all over creation..(I don't think he knew how to read it.) I finally pulled up my Waze app and it worked!!. He then charged us 100 euros 😱😱 We were a bit mad...but at last we were at our hotel....and done with him!!! We flew Delta...and I have nothing but rave reviews for them...great direct flights and good service no delays!!

Welcome home, karenlou. I'm sorry the trip back to Paris was a nightmare, but the rest sounds wonderful. And I'm most impressed the barge had AC! How were the crowds for your hiking portion of the trip, stormsts? IIRC, you went into southern Utah? DH and I are tossing around the idea of a trip through the national parks of that area. Happy getaway, scrapmaven. Hope the change of scene is restorative. I didn't want to bump yesterday's post, The Birdhouse Lady, but The Good Wife is a fabulous show full of great characters. After the first season I was loitering inside the NYC Bloomingdales's to meet friends, kind of swiveling back and forth to keep an eye on all directions. I swiveled back to look at the door as this dude came flying into my arms. We both stepped back and I said "oh, hi" kind of startled/surprised as my brain was desperately trying to place him and figure out how I knew him. We both started laughing, apologizing and he asked me out for lunch. I ditched my friends and have been with Josh Charles ever since. OK, the last sentence and a half are a lie, but the rest is true. I just told DS he can't eat the Hawaiian rolls on the counter because I'm making funeral sandwiches for dinner. His response "really mom, funeral sandwiches? I think you mean celebration of life sandwiches" because apparently no one says funeral anymore. I've never made them but Trader Joe's had a center display with the rolls yesterday and I decided they would be a perfect, easy meal for tonight. Along with tomato soup and maybe a salad.

I had an unplanned morning but it all worked out for me. Took a chance and went as a walk in to the beauty salon and I was able to get my hair cut, colored and highlighted. It was the first time I have highlighted my hair but just wanted something different. I also got my eye brows waxed. I was there almost 3 hours but well worth it.
After I was done with that I went in next door with my book and had a light lunch. I needed a morning like this to just relax and unwind.

bc2ca we went to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. Neither was horribly busy. I was actually pleasantly surprised. Last year we went to Zion and Bryce. Zion was so busy. It is such a beautiful area and each park different in their own ways.

Yesterday Taste of Home sent a recipe for Marzetti casserole. I still have 3/4 lb of ground beef to use up, and I thought, I’m gonna try that! So we will see how that goes. Welcome home, all you travelers. scrapmaven, enjoy your getaway. Mine starts tomorrow. We are going to wave hello at ntsf as we drive past, and look for humpback whales at the beach, as suggested by Marina.

Hi we had to take Dexter to be groomed so we got Caesar salads at Wendy’s because they are good. How does a grilled Caesar salad have 13 carbs? That is crazy. There must have been a ton of sugar on the bacon or chicken. It tasted great. I not done this for about 2 years so it’s not like an every week thing. I was just mad at myself. I know better to check the nutrition!
Dinner is scrambled eggs for all 3 of us and bacon (that everyone doesn’t want but Dawn knows to make anyway because it will get eaten. ) I made us iced chai lattes and they were boxed tea not bespoke blends because I live on an island and don’t expect private tea shops like coffee shops. (There are green tea stores.) we were both delighted with the chai. I also have whipping cream to add and Splenda because I am trying not to eat sugar.

I forgot to mention that LSU was very well represented in Las Vegas. We always travel well and Vegas was a big carrot for those fans. I had originally planned to go but the heat and cost of everything wasn't enticing enough.

Jacksonville Jaguars have been playing a game in UK every year lately. I know other teams are too. I’m hoping the Lions start because dh will want to go possibly and I can tag along. My nephew said American football is getting a lot more popular in England the last few years. Not popular enough for him even though he played in school.
