OK, can it get any worse? There is a lithium battery storage facility on fire, it has been for a day or so. It is in the east area of the North County of San Diego, but today, the winds are blowing all the smells to the west. Everywhere in the north county smells like a chemical is burning and the sky is hazy. UGH! We are lucky because we have AC and can shut all our doors and window. But all the homes without AC?! I don't know what they can do. We even turned on our air purifier. It’s been blowing up here in Temecula. I only went out briefly when it was 109 and got back inside as quickly as possible. I thought it smelled a little strange but I was just trying to get back inside as quickly as possible. It has gotten over 112 the last two days. I’m ready for summer to be over. It usually cools down overnight into the 50’s and 60’s. Last night it was 80+ at 1130. We usually can open up at night to cool the house down into the 60!s and the AC doesn’t kick in until around 4. It’s been going all night and all day. We set it at 77 usually 79 at night when we open up. Even without the heat though we couldn’t open up because of the smell. They keep saying it’s safe but well if it smells like chemicals why would you risk it. I think it’s supposed to start cooling down next Wednesday originally it was supposed to cool down today I hope it cools down. We also got warnings about hail and wind tomorrow

It’s 81 degrees at 9:45 tonight. Tomorrow is supposed to be 101. Soccer game at 12:00. I’ll be taking my umbrellas to sit under and lots of water for me and DS and DH.
eta: tomorrow will be day 44 at/over 100 degrees for the year. Normally we have around 20 days. It’s been bad. We had over 2 weeks straight! Hopefully tomorrow will the the last of it for the rest of the year but there’s always a chance for more 100 days until the end of october.

You know it is hot when you decide to make reservations for an inside table where you would normally be fighting for a patio spot.

We clocked in at 113° yesterday. Today is supposed to be 110°. It is already 85° and the air quality is horrible due to the Line Fire. That is very close to where I lived as a kid. I have a few friends who are ready to evacuate if needed. Right now the fire is going north east away from East Highland but winds are supposed to shift and it could come back down. Where it is headed is Running Springs and 7 Oaks dam. You can barely see out due to the smoke and ash. I was 2 cities away at Costco and ash was falling asleep I pumped gas.

Apparently the whole state is shaking…
This morning…
ABC7 News..
”BREAKINGNEWS: Two separate earthquakes struck Ontario Saturday morning, according to the USGS.
The first 3.5 magnitude earthquake struck around 10:05 a.m. and was followed by another 3.9 magnitude quake at 10:34 a.m., almost 30 minutes after.”
And just north of me here in Sonoma County there was a 4.3 earthquake at the Geysers. Which I didn’t feel.
As far as the heat up here in No. CA, I’m not a fan of this 95-100+degree temps we’ve had most of the summer. And I have AC.

Dr. Lucy Jones has said this happens (and it does) frequently on that fault line. A few years ago it was very active. Salton Sea area is another where frequent swarms occur.

Last night was humid and it is still a little muggy today.

So what was it? San Diego County Air Pollution Control DistrictDriving north there is a lot of thunder clouds and smoke from a fast moving fire on Camp Pendleton. I hope the smoke keeps blowing east.

Ok, so I checked the Pendleton fire and it is in the Zulu Impact area. That is where they practice live ammunition and they were scheduled for practice today. I know they need to practice, but why do it on one of the hottest day of the year. This happens often! They practice on hot days and a fire starts. Ok, off my soap box. 😂

Saw some clouds over Saddleback Mountain but not significant enough to give my area (South OC) a storm unfortunately.

I’m from Texas, where it gets much hotter and we have the added bonus of humidity. But I am DYING! We do not have AC at my school. We weren’t allowed to play outside yesterday, but I SWEAR, it’s hotter inside. These poor little babies are bright pink all day long. I go home absolutely exhausted and feel sick. We have a window AC unit in our living room, but I don’t even want to think about our power bill next month. I’m definitely over it.

They do this often then we can’t open up and air quality sucks. At least usually there isn’t a risk to homes. It seems there is a fire there several times a month if not more often.

It only got to 108 here today so it’s cooler but not much. I’m hoping it doesn’t get pushed out as Wednesday is looking much better.

Went out to get lunch, it was 97. Saw a guy who had either just finished jogging, or was walking hard, covered in sweat. He looked to be in his 60’s. I truly wanted to yell at him to get inside and that he is crazy to be outside exercising in this temperature. I do it all the time. He's probably used to it. But, I feel for you all having to put up with temps over 100 for days on end and NO AIR. That's miserable 😢

How’s everyone holding up today? It’s 107° in OC. I’m so over the heat that I’m ready to go postal. We’ve got 2 more days of this. 😭

I am over it too. Tuesday will be about 10 degrees cooler, Wednesday will be about 20 degrees cooler!! Can’t wait! It is about 95 right now at 5PM.
We tried something new today. We went out for lunch, and rather than park our hot car in the garage, we left it outside. We are just seeing if it keeps the heat down in the house, especially the bedrooms right above the garage. The garage itself feels a lot cooler.

We got lightening, thunder, and rain for a good 2 hours. Cooled down to 83° and now humid AF sitting at 100°.
More evacuations for the Line Fire.
Lots of places closed due to air quality or short staff due to evacuations.
Several school districts closed tomorrow (ours included).
Zero containment on fire and it is at 17,435 acres now.
And more rain starting soon.

Our waters, even in the summer, stay below 70. I think the August average is like 67. This weekend the waters have been around 73.

Another hot day and now we have this north of me. The smoke is here which makes it hot with smoke. But at least I’m just dealing with this and not the fire. I hate this time of year.. Cal Fire.. ”The #BoylesFire burning in Clearlake is 76 acres and 10% contained. There are approximately 30 structures involved with fire and around 4,000 residents displaced in the evacuation zones (CLE-E148, CLE-E157). CAL FIRE remains an assisting agency to the Lake County FPD.” x.com/kcbsamfmtraffic/status/1832955068418756805?s=61&t=j45uMgNk1i8O0YllKF58nw

My FIL is in Murietta and said it was 114 and 109 at his house nearby yesterday. Gross.
We should be down to 86 on Tuesday. Can’t wait!

It got to 109 and then cooled down to 75 when it rained. It got really windy and we had loud thunder for an hour after the rain. I didn’t go outside today. It never got hot after the rain but back into the high 80’s. It’s mid 70’s right now. This is the coolest it’s been this early in a while
