The Debate!

The media was all over Biden after his debate. How old, feeble etc. Maybe so but he’s a fundamentally a very decent man and I think a great president.

It’s insane to me how they can treat the Mango Mussolini like a normal candidate (or normal human, really). He babbles, threatens, has zero policies so he should have been shut down ages ago.

I think that the bigger threat is who Trump is enabling. Abbott? DeSantis? I can imagine that there is money behind it to push the right wing agenda with Project 2025.

As I say on every thread, I have to believe that good will win. People who want the best for the poor, immigrants etc. I can’t go there with anything else.

I’m a dual citizen (Canada) and DH’s parents were born in Italy. I don’t want to be an extremist but it’s nice to have options.

Not knowing much about don the con as a presidential candidate back in 2016, I watched the debate between him and Hilary. I was still undecided. I was pissed off at the DNC, and thought maybe everyone was right about him. As a non-politician, maybe he would actually be able to do some good. The debate helped me see what a doofus he was. I was still not sure about her, but I was thinking there was no way we can put this guy in the highest office this country has. So I voted for her. Not that it did any good. I sure hope this election is not a repeat of that one.

The more obviously unmatched Harris & Trump are in terms of their debate performance, the more interesting I think it will be to see the public backlash against the media if the media tries to spin it as Trump having done a wonderful job.

I will have it in my ear so I can keep up with "facts" and all. Of course, thanks to someone's viewing habits, I have heard all the expert pundits over the weekend on how well she will need to perform, what she needs to come to the podium with, on and on and on. Yet nothing that he has to do. Other than show up. That speaks to their expectation. I truly think at this point everyone knows he is not bringing anything to the table. Nothing new. Nothing to change policy or the betterment of the country. They just don't say it out loud. Well, some of them do.

I am just really curious how he will treat her. Any name calling, any disrespect? We need to hear the mumbling. Not that it will change anything with his followers. But those independents, moderate Rs, surely this might be the time to see how an articulate person/rambling person match up. AND which one do you REALLY want to be in charge. Not the blind voters who would vote for him no matter what he did.

I would love to see in implosion on his part. But I did hear Chris Christie on one show yesterday and he was asked how Trump prepared. He said simply he didn't. He was the smartest in the room and didn't take schooling easily from others. But we know he will not bring anything of substance up. We know it will be once more all lies and his cult will go on.

I think the only people that this debate may convince is younger voters who maybe weren't paying attention to Trump over the last 8 years. Anyone else had to have been living under a rock to not know who and what Trump is and what he stands for. If you haven't decided yet, I don't even know what to say. My 12 year old saw parts of the DNC and said, "I think Trump already lost" and later heard him talking and said, "He is still trying to win?" I hope that others feel the same.

Are there rules that say he has to stay at his lecturn and not creepily sneak around behind her when she is speaking?

I wonder if he is going to storm off stage early....

we won't be watching the debate at our house (I don't want to have an argument with my DH), but those Bingo cards look like a lot of fun!!

Very!! It's is hard seeing the one you love fall for lies that are being told. Listening to him say "I don't like Trump, I don't agree with all the rambling, the name calling, etc. but I can't vote for her(or Joe when he was the candidate)" Why? He just can't really give an answer except for the calling cards of Fox- the economy was better, blah blah blah. I asked him if his DD is sexually assaulted and wants to have an abortion, what then? Oh, he will drive her to wherever he needs to. Now, he doesn't believe in that but he loves her and wants to protect her. Oh, well what happens when she is happily pregnant(won't ever happen) but heaven forbid it's an ectopic pregnancy and the doctor sends her home to wait it out? She will most likely die. Is that what you want? silence. I really don't get it. How do you love policies more than your family? My niece is gay. I ask how do you like the laws that will be put in place if he wins and her life is affected? Oh...he won't do that. He refuses to believe that P25 is nothing more than wasted printed paper. It's very hard.

They probably won't change their minds, but how about trying to tell them that trump is in serious mental decline. He is the chosen candidate because he most likely will be incapacitated within the next year or so, and then vance will become the president. Vance is heavily involved with project 25. The rhetoric he spews on a daily basis is in P25. trump is basically a drooling sock puppet right now. If he wins, he may have the title of president, but he won't be.

I won't be watching. I refuse to spend one second watching that guy.

That said, i do not believe he is dumber than a rock. I mean book wise, yes. He is unlearned and combined with his lack of moral compass, so dangerous.

However, I think he has an excellent instinct on how to appeal to the mob. It may turn off 55% of us, but with the crooked electoral college rigged in his favor, he knows what he is doing.

Gosh I hope he screws it up this year. He could win this if he stopped talking and just put out ads.
