That is so messed up pantsonfire. I'm trying to imagine having to clean all of that week after week. Like the milk poured into some other container. The things I learn here. š

peabay said: it's all about the clicks. Exactly. It is literally something to show off online. What is the trippy part is, who is consuming this content? Moms who try to keep up with the Jones's. The ones who want Pinterest worthy spaces. Neatly organized fridges. Keeping up with the Jones's has been a thing since the 80s. Don't remember it much in the 70s or talk of it but in the 90s it was very much a thing. Especially in middle class families. I agree with all of this. I also think any one doing this online has a second fridge that does NOT look curated. I do like having some organization to my fridge so I can see what I have and donāt end up with out of date food. The examples in the article are just impractical to me - you canāt really see what is behind the front row of food + decor crap.

Anything for views and engagement. A photo frame in your fridge, how stupid. Moving flowers, frames and knick knacks just to get something, they are not using this fridge.

melanell maybe I'm misunderstanding you but in one post you say that they are doing it for clicks and then in the other you say no one is consuming this content. I put forth the arguments I saw online about it in my OP. My position is that people are doing this for views. But I question the crazy people doing this much less than I question the people who think these things are fun to look at. People would not do these things if others wouldn't "stare" at them for doing it. No, I misunderstood you, sorry. I originally took consuming the content from the viewer's perspective, as actually being engaged in the idea itself---appreciating it or wishing to emulate the idea, as opposed to simply bickering about it. But I realize now, that when looking at it from a content creator's perspective, as you were, the bickering is certainly the consumption they are looking for. I do believe it is being shown only for clicks. Now if by chance someone thinks it's a fun idea and goes for it, more power to them, but I doubt the creator of the content expects that at all. They simply know something considered outlandish by many will generate participation in the argument.

You never see left overs, you never see milk cartons. You see plastic. Maybe some glass. Eggs perfectly sorted in a sliding bin or clear plastic egg carton. OJ or lemonade decentered into small plastic or glass single serve containers. Milk in plastic clear milk cartons. Apples neatly arranged. All kinds of snacks. This I've seen. And it's exactly what I was expecting to see again when I clicked the link. But to me this, and what is actually being shown in the OP here are very, very different from one another.

The "where is the butter?" game that my husband plays when he opens the fridge door would level up with that set up.

Totally ridiculous. Looks like an awesome way to ruin those photos because I canāt think of a worse place for storing them with all the humidity inside a refrigerator. š¤¦š»āāļø There wouldnāt be room for all that excess stuff in my fridge.
I think the all clear storage is kinda nuts too, how do you know when anything is close to expiring?

I can't even imagine. Someone definitely has too much time on their hands. Has tons of money to buy all the decorations and eats out all the time as they don't have room in their fridge for food. Crazy!

I came across this on Tik Tok last week and was also incredibly confused how and why this became a thing. Weird.

Like the milk poured into some other container. I grew up with both milk and juice poured into jugs that were brought to the table. None of us kids kept it up into adulthood much to my dad's dismay. I am so tempted to fridgescape next time DH is away. I need to start collecting little dishes, candles and baskets now. How long do you think it would take to transform? Could I do it if he was away overnight or do I need a couple days?

Ok it's not that bad. You can see pics in the article. If it makes her happy, why not? She's artsy and she likes to do it.
I definitely do not think her intent is to make anyone feel inadequate, she's just sharing something she did that's not a whole lot different than a tablescape if you ask me.
And, it was surprisingly crowded! I'd need more room than that.

Now I'm tempted to do this just because, and share it here. But not until I get my grocery shopping done.

I have a hard enough time keeping things somewhat organized and visible in there as it is. And in the rest of my house. I donāt have time or the desire to worry about decorating inside my fridge. But I also think organizing everything by color like the home edit is dumb and impractical. So Iām not their target audience.

I think if I wanted to do something along these lines I would do drawer-scaping instead. Open a drawer and find something unexpected, but cool or pretty in there along with the normal boring contents like towels or socks or whatnot. Of course that would mean my drawers would have to have extra space in them, and while I do not see myself as owning an immense amount of stuff, I do have the tendency to overfill any drawer I have access to. So I'd never have that possibility. But it would be like putting a ribbon wrapped bundle of lavender in a drawer, kwim? Just an updated throwback to something people used to do. Lavender in with the face cloths, or a framed photo on top of a stack of shorts, or some little antique kitchen tool in the drawer with the cloth napkins. The good news is I'd have to give away more stuff in order to make any of that possible, and I could source the cute things from what I already own. Might serve as a reminder not to buy more stuff that would take up the space for the cute thing. Might be especially fun if you have a guest bedroom, and you can surprise your guest with little surprises. Maybe some local items you tuck into the drawers like little gifts.

To each their ownā¦ goes against my Swedish death cleaning minimalist heart but if it makes her happy then so be it. But I am also left asking - where does it end? Toilet cisterns, washing machine interiors, the inside of your oven? I think if I was using my fridge to store ornaments Iād ditch the fridge and just put in shelving instead so I donāt have to open the door to view my prettiesā¦ and I donāt care if not having a fridge is weird to others it just has to work for the owner. It does make me wonder why more news stories are not being made on actual news thoughā¦ there are still conflicts etc throughout the world that are very nuanced and need more coverage on ALL of the different viewpoints and yet this ānewsā company is getting article ideas off tik tok??? Journalists of old must be turning in their gravesā¦

I knew nothing about this until about 2 hours ago when I opened this thread. Now I'm all about a nice organized fridge but this is just...I don't know. However, scrolling through IG just now Iliza Schlesinger, comedian, made a hilarious video reel on this exact thing!
