1986 midnight blue metallic Firebird from General Motors. It was beautiful and the lemon first year new model transmission problems and they bought it back for me and I sobbed.

Metallic blue 1974 Ford Mustang II.
Funny thing, when I first met DH he had the exact same car.

This is as also my first car. But it was very used. I got it in 1989 and I think the car was an 81. Mine was an '83. I saw them around for at least 20 years, probably 30. Mine was a stick, was yours? I had two of them! Both were stick shift. The first one was FIL’s and it was passed down to us, it was a really ugly cream/tan color. I think it had almost 200K miles on it and the body was rusting out so we sold it to a kid who worked for DH at the time, and he drove it for a few more years. We replaced it with a bright red one that crapped out on the side of the highway in a construction zone, the head gasket blew on it. Overall they were great cars! My first car though was a Mazda GLC, bright blue, that belonged to a friend’s sister. I don’t remember the year. She bought it new, totaled it, fixed it up just enough to be legal and sold it to me for $500. There was literally chicken wire in the front where the grill was supposed to be. The front quarter panel and driver’s side door were smashed in. DH found replacement parts at a junkyard, put it back together and painted everything to look nice again. I drove it for a while and it was totaled out yet again when an old guy fell asleep at the wheel and ran into us when the road curved but he didn’t. The old guy’s insurance paid out. Since it was still operational, we sold it to my brother who drove it for a while, someone hit him in it, insurance paid out again, and after that it was done for good. For a car that was such a shocking, obnoxious color it sure was an accident magnet!

Be careful what you post. This is often a security question. I was thinking that too. DH and I have come up with a whole list of stock fake answers to those questions for this very reason!

My very first car was a Gold Ford Capri M2 1600 Gear
I freaking loved that car but it was impractical to keep so I sold it for triple what I paid for it ( to a classic car dealer )
& got myself a Austin Metro then after that a Peugeot 306 cabriolet ,
I don't drive anymore due to long term illness and the fact I was a bit of a nervous driver .

My first car was given to me by my parents as an 18th birthday/graduation gift in 1981. It was a 1976 Camaro. OMG, I thought I was THE coolest driving that car! LOL I sold it a couple of years later when I needed money for college, and I missed it for years. It looked exactly like this except it was navy blue. And I don't think the wheels were that fancy. LOL

My very first car was a massive red 1970-ish Chrysler New Yorker that I inherited from my mother when she left after my parents separated. When I was a junior in HS in 1976, my dad bought me a new MGB. After lots of tears, learning to drive a standard, I came to love that car. It was so much fun to drive. Sadly, British Leyland cars were shit, and I had lots of mechanical problems with it.

I was 18 in 1986 and my parents bought me a $750 1979 turquoise blue Corolla with a CHOKE! My father slapped some red, orange, yellow pinstripes on it. I drove it for 2 years no problems, and then sold it for $750 when I bought my used Ford Escort.

A 1977 Chevy Nova, when I was a junior in high school in 1987. My high school BFF was the first in our friend group to get a car and it was also a Chevy Nova, probably the same year as yours, in avocado green. So many good memories in that car. My friend HATED it, but we all loved it. It would have weird quirks where one of us would have to put our finger on some engine part for it to start. I hope your memories were just as good. Aw, thanks. I do have good memories. Mine was gold and I drove my friends around a lot in that car; it was freedom!

My parent's bought "us" --my brother and I a 1984 S-10 in 1990. I only drove it a few times before I left for college without a car (my brother had just turned 16).
The first car that I signed on the line for was with my DH and was a 1997 Nissan Altima purchased around 2000. Before that I drove a 1990ish (I think?) Grand Am my Dh (boyfriend before marriage since 1989) or walked or rode the city bus.

I did without a car after moving out at age 18 until I was about 23 or so. I used the city bus system, friends, and boyfriends to get around. I was about 23 when I bought my first car, a barely used Honda Accord hatchback. Nothing exciting, but it got me from point A to point B just fine. Super reliable car!

Mine was a 1966 Mustang. We sold it when we had our third child since we couldn't put three car seats in it! Dh's first was a 1968 Mustang and we still have it in our garage. It's been fully restored except paint, hoping our 15 yo grandson will want it!

It was my parent's old vehicle, a used 1984? GMC Jimmy.
My first vehicle on my own was a used 1989 blue and silver Cavalier Z24. I loved that car.
