I keep coming to see if there is a thread. I don’t know how many peas will be affected. I hope all are prepping or getting out of the way. It sounds like a scary one. I hope it’s not nearly as bad as I am hearing. I hope everyone remains safe and will post updates when they can.

I'm certain that tampascrapper has moved out of FL. No idea if @bergdorfblonde is still there. There must be more FL peas. Guessing they may be quite preoccupied at this point. |

Thank you - I'm in north central Florida where I-10 and I-75 meet. So far so good but Helene hasn't made landfall yet and we're about as far inland as you can get in Florida. Our waffle houses all closed at 2pm though and that's never a good sign.

They have cancelled schools and events all throughout the Atlanta area due to the tropical storm effects. Winds possible up to 60mph which means so many downed trees and power outages. 8-15" of rain predicted tonight which means there absolutely WILL be flooding. I'm hoping everyone stays safe.
I'll be at home, hoping to have power but not expecting it.
I had an event this weekend that is delayed for tomorrow but I sincerely hope they just cancel it since I'm not driving through flood waters to set up a tent and hope I can make a sale from one of maybe three people in attendance. Dumb.

Our waffle houses all closed at 2pm though and that's never a good sign. I was reading about Waffle House’s closing, and they rarely do that. I have an acquaintance who is sitting at her house, just waiting. Hope you are safe and check in when you can! |

You too, I'm not worried for myself but hoping you are good! At least our Waffle Houses are still open. I think! It's been raining, mostly lightly, for over 24 hours, but it's supposed to be very bad from about 8pm to 8am tonight. Starting to pick up now. |

My son flew home last-min yesterday. He goes to U of Tampa. 3rd year, 3rd evacuation. He is in a house this year so they did the sandbag thing, moved the cars, etc. When he mentioned coming home since classes were canceled all week, I tried to find a flight. I feel better with him up here in NY and am happy cooking ad baking for him for a few days.  (1st year he flew home. He did't know anybody yet. Last year they closed campus I think on day 2 but he evacuated to the east coast with a friend.) He flew out of Orlando so his car is with a friend there. Hoping all remain safe! He has friends at Florida State and they are supposed to get 15-20' swells of water when it hits. I keep reading from local meteorologists they are afraid people aren't understanding the severity of this storm. |

We are in TN. We have been getting rain today, although not hurricane rain. The hurricane stuff starts tonight. It's the wind which will be nasty. They are saying 35-60 mph winds could hit us. We are in the valley. East of us on the plateau will have less wind.
We've tied our boat down. Moved our potted plants up next to the house.
Oh.....I find this interesting....we've had rain all day today. The hummingbirds are fighting each other for food. We have 4 feeders out. We will pull them in tonight because they are glass. I don't want to be picking glass out of our mulch when this is over.
Edited to add….campgrounds in the Smokies are closed. Roads are closed, schools closed, stores closed…..so if you’re headed this way check first to see if the mountains are open.

I'm in NE Ga. I am a little nervous about this one. I saw a local meteorologist post that this has the potential of being Atlanta's Hugo. I lived in Columbia when Hugo hit. It was supposed to be a direct hit and shifted to the right at the last minute and went up to Charolotte. The damage was still pretty hefty in the Columbia area.
I'm preparing to sleep in the basement tonight. Making sure all my devices are charged, will have a change of clothes, shoes, etc. should I need it. I made a Walmart order for dd. She's at school in NW Atlanta.
All the Peas in the path, praying we are all safe!

Thank you - I think we should be ok - I'm about as inland as you can get in Florida which helps. Usually we're the place they stage the linemen/trucks...not this time though. last I read winds were 130mph - we won't see them that high here - I'm inland - but we are expecting gusts up to about 90mph which is more than we've gotten in previous storms. We're not getting the amount of rain this time - thankfully as our rivers are still swollen from Debby last month (I got 12" then) - but some places will. Plus the storm surges are devastating to the coastal areas. And tornadoes as well. And this hurricane is BIG as well as powerful so a LOT of places are going to be impacted. |

Southeast FL, had gusty winds, some heavy rain but that should be it. We have had tornado warning and are under tropical storm watch. All schools and universities were closed except for where I work. They close K-12 when wind is predicted to exceed 30 mph, not safe for busses.
Hope everyone on the west coast and the bend are in a safe place and able evacuate if indicated. Major storm serge. Thinking of you.

We got reports from some of our friends in Fort Myers. We got about two feet of water in the streets from the storm surge. There was some wind damage and a few trees down. So glad we didn’t get more because we just finished rehabbing the house from Hurricane Ian.
Thoughts and prayers for everyone in Helene’s path. Hurricanes can be seriously dangerous and destructive.

Fortunately it's only blocking half the road (and there are only two houses- ours and the across the road neighbours and they are staying with family tonight) so we'll be able to get out post-storm. We're on a corner so even if it had blocked the road - we could have driven through our yard to the other road. |

I was on a call with some co-workers in ATL yesterday, half of them had no idea the storm was coming! Work has been sending out email alerts for the past two days. We have offices in Atlanta and St. Pete, FL.

I was just texting with my brother in Atlanta and they are expecting tropical storm conditions, which is not good given all the trees they have.

Our poor planet was crying in pain and now she seems to be having a downright nervous breakdown. All the flooding in Europe this week... there's no end to the weather news, tragedies wrought by climate change.
