Good morning.
How are you and your loved ones, Linda? Do we have anyone else in the path of the hurricane? If so, please check in with us.
So, I had a very productive trip. I feel restored and ready to keep improving. If I can stay out of hospitals and stay away from doctors that can't help I stand a chance.
Today I have to go get groceries and then I need to go outside and go see my stray. My doctor had a ranch for many years and he thinks she's close to giving birth. I was suspicious that she might be pg and showed him photos that dh took in order to show him. Doc said that cat is very pg. So, I want to get a closer look. Though she won't let me get too close. The rescues are so packed that they can't help right now. This would be year 3 that I had kittens born in my yard. I'm hiring a feline OB/GYN. You're all welcome to apply. I can pay you in cat treats.
Dinner will likely be takeout, so that I can get my bearings. Ods is staying overnight.
What's on your menu?
How is everyone doing?
sueg, did you call your doctor today? How do you feel? I'm hoping that you are feeling well today.
**GypsyGirl**, hi friend. I had such a fun time. We talked and talked and talked. It was a wonderful way to end my trip. Just a tidbit for the tribe, **GypsyGirl** has beautiful eyes and she dresses to the nines.
What does everyone have planned this weekend? I am going to take my new camera and go shooting. We're trying to figure out a place to go tmw w/our cameras.
How are our tribe members who are fighting illness?
Now to address something from yesterday. scrappintoee brought up a good topic. Please know that everyone in this thread is equally important. I don't have tiers or favorites. You're all my favorites and if anyone ever has suggestions for change or feels left out then step up and say something. Start discussions. Ask questions. This thread belongs to all of us. This is a table of friends and everyone is important.
Have a great weekend. Relax, rest well, have fun and be happy!

Good evening all, scrapmaven - I am feeling fine today. I slept really well last night - in bed before 9, woke at 3am for the bathroom, then crashed again until almost 6am. Also, no more nausea, so I’ve been able to eat normally as well, which I think has helped. I went out this morning to walk to the recycling bins, then to the supermarket and home and the fresh air helped too. I am not too worried - I have had these dizzy/nausea spells before, sometimes so bad I haven’t been able to get out of bed, and they generally last less than a day. I think I was just a bit anxious on Wednesday evening because of the surgery. I’ll be at my GP for bloodwork on Tuesday, so I will mention it to be on the safe side. Today I finished up most of the attraction bookings for our trip to Venice next week. There was just one I couldn’t complete because I needed a security code from my bank - I received the SMS from my bank, but couldn’t remember my bank PIN which I also needed. DH can fix that tomorrow, either by doing the booking or finding my PIN! DH won’t be home for dinner - his flight is scheduled to land at 8:35, but he has already had a message from LH that there will be a delay. Evening flights at this time of year and through winter are a pain, as the delays have just accumulated over the day and can lead to major delays. At least it isn’t snowing yet! For my dinner, I am going to make tuna pasta, one of my comfort food favourites, as my mum used to make it often for Friday dinner.

So glad you're feeling restored scrapmaven. And hopefully the weather wasn't too hot for you! I have run out of work for the day so I'm not sure how I'm going to occupy myself. I should get a head start on cleaning today so I don't have to do it this weekend. Maybe after lunch! Dinner will either be a quiche, hamburger casserole or going out. I haven't decided yet! Hope you all have a great day!

So, I had a very productive trip. I feel restored and ready to keep improving. If I can stay out of hospitals and stay away from doctors that can't help I stand a chance. This makes me so happy to hear. I love when you come back from Houston restored. That doc must be a little bit magic. I cannot believe how many strays you have around you. I'm glad you watch over them, but geez. People need to spay and neuter their pets. Just a tidbit for the tribe, **GypsyGirl** has beautiful eyes and she dresses to the nines. Not event the least bit surprised. Please know that everyone in this thread is equally important. I don't have tiers or favorites. You're all my favorites and if anyone ever has suggestions for change or feels left out then step up and say something. Start discussions. Ask questions. This thread belongs to all of us. This is a table of friends and everyone is important. This was well said. I hope all of us can put some extra effort into investing our energy into one another. Linda reached out to me this morning. They have a lot of trees down. But they are safe, as is their home and cars. I don't know when she will be back to peas, but she is alright. I'm going to try to sew a quilt top, the one I started last weekend, this weekend. I also am hosting some friends for lunch on Sunday. I have not yet met my friend Chris's new girlfriend. She is a vegetarian. So I'll be making a vegan lunch for all of us. I have decided to just go with the fact that I'm not an evening person and start inviting people for lunch instead. They were pleased to get the invitation. I'm still working on the menu. Tonight I'll be making dal. With split yellow lentils. I'll be serving with rice and a chili pepper tadka. It's a new recipe that I'm excited to try.

About to take dd to her internship at the museum and then have some laundry and chores to do. Going to scrapbook today as well and maybe work on my last few Halloween cards.
Dinner will either be pasta or potato leek soup. Kind of leaning towards the soup.

This is a table of friends and everyone is important. I have a few things planned for today ... Shower and wash my hair ... as you might know, washing and doing my hair is not my fav thing to do ... I air dry it which takes an hour Then I have to run a quick errand ... I didn't manage to change my decor to Fall yesterday so that "might" happen today I am going to a dinner theatre tonight with my dd's and my mum ... the show is based on Grease so should be great fun! It is a multi-course plated dinner which I prefer over a buffet because I can digest in between courses while we watch the show ... a perfect set up for me! Have you considered contacting a rescue group that does trap, spay and release of feral cats scrapmaven? It might be something to look into so that you don't have kittens in your yard every year ... even though they are super cute!

Welcome home, scrapmaven. Glad you’re feeling better now. Your boys are adorable, Tearisci … especially the one you gave birth to. scrappintoee, I am always happy to see your posts, whether I manage to respond or not. Dinner tonight is up in the air. My cousin is coming to stay for a couple of nights. He always wants to go to my friend’s Mexican restaurant, but whether that will be tonight or tomorrow night, I don’t know yet. Otherwise, I have rechauffe Swiss steak and mashed potatoes I will (happily) eat. Tomorrow I probably won’t post, as I’ll be gone for afternoon tea for most of the day, with my sister and a couple of friends. It’s in the town we stayed in for a few days earlier this month, just around the corner from our hotel. Dinner options will be the same as today.

Happy Friday! scrapmaven so happy to hear you are feeling restored. Tearisci good looking guys you have there. leannec I feel the same way about washing my hair. It is only to my shoulders but it is so thick so it takes forever to dry. I am glad to hear linda is safe. Nothing much going on here today. It is raining and the wind has picked up. I am getting ready to head out. Going to the nursing home to help FIL pack up MIL's things. She will be moved to a different facility tomorrow. I need to stop by Joann's and look at some material to make some no sew fleece blankets for the grands for Christmas. We have a couple and they love them so I thought that would make an easy gift. Tonight we are going to Purdue to watch a film on the basketball teams run to the Final Four. Should be a fun evening. Dinner has not been decided yet. We will go out with the friends that we are going to see the film with.

Just got back from AquaFit ~ she gave us quite the workout this morning but it felt good. scrapmaven, I'm glad the trip was a success and that your meet-up with **GypsyGirl** was so much fun. I've read all your posts but need to head to the shower. Having lived through hurricanes, I'm glad to hear that linda is okay. Dinner will be the Tri-Tip roast I didn't make the other day. TGIF!!

Hi everyone, I am loving this breezy, cool cloudy day. I hope we stay in this weather pattern for a while. I am thrilled for fall and it seems like between the bait and switch of summer's end and sometimes early rainy cold days that strip all the leaves off early, it gets cheated! We are also going camping for 4 nights (close by) in Oct and I want chilly mornings for bacon and coffee outside and fires in the evening. Fingers crossed!
I didn't sleep well...I was starving! But I waited til morning and went out for breakfast. I was going to do some reading and grading at the coffeehouse, but I just felt draggy so I can home after picking some things up from the library. I tease (but totally serious) the ladies at the library that I've become friendly with that I am gunning for the first opening with them for my retirement job. I'm guessing that will be 10yrs...so I am counting down!
I'm pretty excited about a new project I'm exploring. I think I want to write a cookbook. I mean, I've had the desire for a while, but I think I have a solid concept. First, I need to get recipes together to begin writing and testing those, but that's kind of the least of it. I'm researching recipe writing and trying to match up recipes and concepts and memories. I'll share more when I'm able if anyone is interested. I don't have a huge online presence beyond my own circle so I'm not expecting a blockbuster. If the worst outcome is a nice collection of recipes and stories for the people close to me, I'll feel like I succeeded. But it would be great to create something that fills a useful niche with a beautiful book.
Has anyone tried Pair Eyewear for glasses and interchangeable "plates" to change out designs? You have a base pair, that will determine the shape and size of the glasses and then you can select decorative and/or sunglass plates to attach. Mine are coming today! I love changing out glasses and I have a bazillion pair, thanks to having to use or lose flex dollars in December. I'm excited especially bc I have a couple plates with Snoopy and the Peanuts, my favorites! I'm embracing the quirky! The only thing about buying frames online is if they fit my face well. So we will see!
I'm making homemade Kung pao chicken with broccoli over rice. And...homemade pork egg rolls! Looking forward to that, even if it is a little more work than usual. Being back to work has out a crimp on my cooking (and posting). Sending hugs to whomever needs them!

I want tmarschall’s cookbook, too. Even though i like to cook EASY. Tonight’s dinner has been decided … it’s the Mexican restaurant. So tomorrow will probably just be picking through what’s in the fridge, including the Swiss steak + mashed taters. Oh! I pre-ordered sausage rolls to bring home from the tea room. We can eat those for dinner.

gingerly stepping in to say......thanks, everyone. It was hard/ weird to post yesterday, and I appreciate the replies. I wanted to delete sooo badly, because it seemed so "PVM" (please validate meeeeee ! ) Accctually, it was really saying "HOW did no one comment on that precious newborn I posted back in Marccchhhhh??? " I love the comaraderie here, the laughter, the support, and that we feel that we *know* one another. Not to mention alllll the kind words of support about my pain / grief, etc. for years! But honestly, sometimes I feel like it's weird to "talk" to and be so invested in people "from a screen". I really wish we could meet in person someday---it would be so much fun. I've met many peas IRL over the years, but this was back when scrapbooking was in its heyday, and only one of them still posts once in a great while. (**by the way, I never engage with her, because I could tell she didn't like me at the scrapbook event we attended**) Many of you sent me the sweetest cards when Sophie died. Jeremysgirl sent me a beautiful shawl she knitted when Meaty died. Gypsy Girl sent treats from a store I love and miss! .......Whenever I tell people about the Sophie cards, they're very surprised/amazed that "internet people" are so involved. As I said yesterday, it's MY problem that I was hurt, and of course I know that precious pik of my nephew/great niece was appreciated. Peeps are bussssy, I get it! Anyhooo....I wanted to post this, then I'll read the thread.

Fridays are half days for me. I usually go to the Rock for the big shopping: Costco, Aldi, Trader Joe's, etc. But we were supposed to have more rain from Helene and I just wanted to be home today. So Walmart had to do.
Tonight we are having a baked shrimp boil. I'm munching on some pretzel bites from Aldi atm. I must say they are fantastic with the mustard sauce in the box.
I'll get back to read everybody's day in a bit. I need to sit and rest.

Tribe, sorry to take tribe time on this, but having fun is a priority right now. Yes, it does have battles. You are basically painting and thinning areas of paint with your special paintbrush but there are enemies to battle and a boss level. I played a bit the other day and will get back to it tonight.

I don't post on this thread too much because I feel like my dinners are boring. And I know this is much more than a dinner thread. Maybe it's because I don't share a lot about my life on the board or really with too many people. It's a habit, I guess. Or maybe I feel like, who cares if I got my car washed or painted a picture. But I'm trying to be more open in general so I'll be hopping in here as often as I can think of something to say.
Tonight I'm making chickpea pasta (pasta made from chickpeas) with roasted broccoli and tomato sauce. It's an easy dinner night, though I've been coming up with some recipes I really love and will report in on those as well.
I have my 50th hs reunion coming up in a little over a month and I vainly went out today to get a little botox near my eyes. Hoping it turns out the way I'm imagining it will...

Little sidenote---I have never (and hope to never) post about leaving the board, and that wasn't my intention at all yesterday. I'm not a "hair flip" kinda gal...I just take quiet breaks. I truly just wanted to express that I had hoped for comments on the babies/ doggies....that's all ! **@scrapmaven....SO glad your awesome doctor helped you yet again and had fun chatting with **GypsyGirl**. . I WISH I had beautiful eyes! Mine are only pretty with TONS of makeup. ** I love it when people use their photos for their avatars, since I sometimes wonder what everyone looks like. **Someday, I'll tell y'all about the lovely second dinner I had with sis and sis-in-law. We had some "REAL talk" that we've needed to have for yearrrrs. My family and I have had this joke for years about after having REAL conversations, we need a break, we'll sort of sing in a silly way "Can we all just be SUPERFICIAL nowwwww !!" Then we start talking about how our nails look, recipes, what shows we like, etc, etc. ** Sooo relieved to hear Linda and family are okay! ** Tearisci....cute couple! They live in the D.C. area, correct? You talked about visiting them recently, and I think you used to live there at some point, too? Are you actually from that area like I am? Did you ever enjoy the yumminess that is "Little Tavern" hamburgers? It was our go-to after dancing till the wee hours in Georgetown. Delicious, and absorbed some of the copious amounts of alcohol so we could function at work the next day. ** tmarschall.....Your photos yesterday were soooo paw-some! Not only your adorable girls, the cake, you and DH, the doggies' SWEATERSsS and the BACKGROUND was so pretty !!!! Love your ideas for a cookbook. The plates, etc. with your glasses sounds very cool, but I need to google because I have no idea what it's about. ** Okay, I'm exhausted from being such a chatterbox now! (( hugs )) to anyone who needs 'em!

I am going to split my day between working outside in the yards and unpacking more boxes. I don’t know if I will have the energy to do both. I definitely need to mow the front yard. I normally love doing that but the front yard in this house is awful to mow.
First, it is huge. Probably 6 times the size of my old lawn. Second, it is really bumpy, like they didn’t bother to used one of those water filled rollers to make the soil flat before putting seed down. Either that or they ran something heavy over it after it rained, leaving trenches all over the place. You can’t tell by looking at it because the grass hides it all. But when walking across it, it is so bad it makes my legs hurt. It is a good thing that I plan to get rid of all grass and plant some kind of creeping plant there that will gradually fill it all in. I am also going to create a walkway from the street to the porch steps to make it easier for people to get to my front door. Right now, they have to walk down to my driveway and come up the long ramp to the porch. It just isn’t a nice front yard at all and I want to give it curb appeal.
I think I am going to make a big pot of taco soup for dinner. It doesn’t require too much effort since I have some cooked ground turkey in the freezer already. That just leaves chopping an onion and dumping in multiple cans of different kinds of beans and a couple of cans of diced tomato. I also have chopped cilantro and poblano chilies in the freezer too. I find it so much more convenient to just buy enough for several batches of soup, then chop it all and freeze it, ready to go for the next batches of soup. Fresh cilantro tastes better, but I don’t feel like adding a grocery store trip to my already full day. And a pot of soup will last me several days so that I won’t need to come up with dinners for a while. Fortunately, I love soup and don’t mind having repeats day after day if it is something I really like. I have been doing laundry all morning and I am already pooped because my sleep was too weird last night. I may not make it to the boxes, but I have to get that grass mowed.

Naps are one of the BEST things in life! I loved naps even in my twenties when I had endless energy. My whole family loves/ is obsessssed with NAPS! One of my best friends HATES them, no matter how sleepy she is, she just pulls through. If she gives in and naps, she says she's a complete B*Tch
