Hi everyone! I'm posting early because I'm heading to Denny's soon to meet my mum for breakfast! I don't have any plans in the daytime today but I am going Speed Dating again this evening! It should be fun! I'm going alone so I'm taking an Uber because it's downtown ... I'll let you know tomorrow how it goes. No meme today because what I posted on Facebook wasn't humourous ... I can't explain it to you without being cryptic so I'll leave it there. I'm not sure what dinner will be ... it's up in the air at the moment ... How is your dh doing **GypsyGirl**? How is everyone else feeling today? What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a relaxing Sunday everybody!

Let us know how your speed dating goes leannec. I'm an old married lady but if I was single I'd totally go with you because it sounds like fun. I'm just getting in the shower. I've got minestrone cooking in my crockpot. All the stuff to make a green salad. I just took my loaves of french bread out of the oven so they are cooling. I also have all the stuff for charcuterie. I'm looking forward to seeing my friends. They will be here at 12:30. I'm hoping I get time to sneak in a batch of cookies. Since we are basically grazing/late lunching today, we will simply nibble all evening too. Have a good one friends!

Happy Sunday!
I'm making brunch for my family and we're having caramelized onion, bacon and gruyere quiche along with Fisher fair scones. Everyone will probably be here by 12:15-12:30 after church. I'm doing some of the prep work early and it smells so good in my house! There's something about cooked onions that I just love.
Dinner is up in the air but will be something simple as I'm going all out on brunch!
Hope you all have a great day!

Hi all! Good luck with entertaining and speed dating, ladies! We are going in to Nick's work for a couple hours to get prepped for the week and for me to grade assignments. Then we are goibg to two orchards for apples and donuts and apple fritters! Then home for the football game if it's still on.
Yesterday was very fun...we definitely did not get home early as planned, but we did get to Williams Sonoma. I got some fun Snoopy stuff for baking. And pancake molds, and pie accessories. I spent way too much, but it was very fun. It was an outdoor ritzy mall and it was beautiful outside. Such a nice evening!
Hope everyone has a great day!

leannec , have a good time tonight. I hope you meet a really nice guy. If you have any funny stories to share please do so tmw. jeremysgirl , have a great time today. I'm quite sure that your friends will enjoy the food, but mostly the hostess.
tmarschall, you had me at donuts and apple fritters. YUMMY. Have a fun day. I have to go go to WS website and see the Snoopy serving trays. How fun. Today is another hang-out-at-home day. We're pretty sure our stray is about to give birth at any time. SHe has a very low hanging stomach. I'm going to call the feral cat rescue tmw. Lately, they've been too busy to help, but I hope they have room to help us. This mama is one of the kittens that was born in my yard last August. I need to hire a feline ob/gyn. Maybe my male indoor cats should hand out cigars to the male strays. This is year 3 that strays will be born in my yard.

Fisher fair scones!! boy you know you are from the Pacific Northwest when you know what those are!!! I used to use their mixes a lot.. would bring them home from washington state (along with farman pickles) when the kids were small.
I want to go swimming today. dh is talking about going out to look at campsites some more.. we may camp tomorrow for a night or two or just turning out now we may blow it off to go out to dinner with our friends. so tonight is a mystery. may go get some chicken and make black bean tacos.
they are taking down 4 massive aspen trees in front of our patio door (like 10 ft away) so we need to get out and away from the noise somehow. I have pictures of these trees in the mid 1980's, when they were little spindly trees --when my parents had just bought this condo.
have the best day possible!!!

Happy Sunday! We went to church as usual this morning, then DH dropped me at the top of our street and headed toward Vienna. I just messaged him to see if he’d arrived, but he said he’d just got into the freeway when he got a message saying he’s left a box or two behind, so he had to double back. When he messaged he was charging the car and about an hour out from his hotel.
I’ve been knitting most of the afternoon. I had our women’s football game on earlier and now I’ve switched to Netflix. I hope to finish this sleeve tonight, then all I need do is block the pieces, see them together and knit the trim.
Dinner tonight is leftover spaghetti from Friday night. It’s ‘eat all the leftovers’ time, as we’re away for 11 days from Thursday.

Dinner is a mystery. It’s too far away for me to think about. I’m interested in sloppy joes (thanks to some of you last week), but I’d have to go get buns, so I guess it will wait. Does anyone else put cheese on their sloppy joes? There’s still mashed potatoes and one serving of Swiss steak left, but I’ve been working on that meal for days now. I’m going to have to compost what’s left of last week’s Costco chicken, because I let it hang around too long. That makes me sad. leannec, have fun at your speed dating. We will want the full report.

We just got back from a long walk. I used the Merlin bird app and identified the sounds of at least 10 birds, some of which we had never heard of! I'm continuing to hear of the massive destruction from the hurricane and praying all my friends along the east coast are safe. Dinner is undecided so a trip to Raley's is in my future. Have fun tonight leannec and have fun with your friends jeremysgirl . Oldie but goodie:

cadoodlebug...Oh yes...that meme MY DH knows by now not to even bother! I think I told the story about the time I was at my 4-day crop and DH called to ask why there isn't a silverware bin. He's so tall, he never saw the 3rd rack for silverware. I totally understand your tears for your sweet Gracie. DH never could look at the stacks of sympathy cards when our sweet boy, Kellie, went over the Rainbow Bridge. Big hugs.

My dog is very sweet and loveable. I am sitting here on my phone texting and reading things. Dexter is sitting on the other side of the sofa. He started howling for me. I was right beside him one cushion away. He looked and me and went into his crate.
Dad is going out for brunch and may not need dinner. I could be game for anything. Ribs sound good but I could be happy with burgers.

Rainy soup making day today. I’m making Italian sausage and tortellini soup. It’s filled with crushed tomatoes and beef stock and onions and garlic and yellow squash, and a red pepper and carrots and mushrooms, and then of course tortellini at the end.

Fisher fair scones!! boy you know you are from the Pacific Northwest when you know what those are!!! Sounds like a delicious brunch, Tearisci ! So does yours, jeremysgirl . Then we are goibg to two orchards for apples and donuts and apple fritters! I've been trying not to make eye contact with the apple cider donuts in Trader Joe's lately, but apple fritters are my first choices ALWAYS. Does anyone else put cheese on their sloppy joes? For full disclosure, I don't think I've ever had a sloppy joe, and have definitely never made them, but would 100% put out grated cheese if serving them. We received a nice letter from the School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts yesterday that the Vets and staff at our Office made a donation in My Gracies name...I was just to the point when I wasn't crying everyday when I got that letter. I miss my girl SO much😢😢 What a lovely thing to do. I am the Scandinavian architect in this house and live with a bunch of raccoons. I do ask them to put dirty dishes in the dishwasher instead of stacking them on the counter because I don't mind quickly rearranging them, but I'm always shocked to unload something one of them loaded and ran. It is a gorgeous day here. Highs in the mid70sF/20sC and cool at night is my idea of perfection. I didn't get all the replanting/repotting done, so will work on that today, putz around and watch some football. DD is out for dinner so I'm making a shrimp pasta (she's not a fan) with my last box of TJ's lemon torchietti pasta and asparagus, spinach, peas and whatever else might be lurking in the vegetable drawer. Not sure if DS will be home as he is helping a friend move, but he will 100% have a bowl whenever he does show up.

Yipppee! "Quick Quote" is working again !!! am going Speed Dating again this evening! Hope you meet a great guy/guys! caramelized onion, bacon and gruyere quiche along with Fisher fair scones Jumping on a plane right now.! I'll bring lovely Fall flowers and wine to the hostess. I got some fun Snoopy stuff for baking. How cute! I'm going to google, but I have MORE than enough bakeware, so I won't purchase. This mama is one of the kittens that was born in my yard last August. I need to hire a feline ob/gyn. Maybe my male indoor cats should hand out cigars to the male strays. Aww.....so happy these sweet kitties have Scrapmaven with her Honorary DVM! Such a sad situation, but I giggled at the cigars. Does anyone else put cheese on their sloppy joes? Haven't had one in years, but sharp cheddar on a sloppy joe sounds yummy! I used the Merlin bird app and identified the sounds of at least 10 birds, some of which we had never heard of! That's so cool! Maybe DH and I should do that. Birds make the sweeetest songs! School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts yesterday that the Vets and staff at our Office made a donation in My Gracies name...I was just to the point when I wasn't crying everyday when I got that letter. I miss my girl SO much😢😢 Awww.....how paw-some of your Vets, and (( hugs )) for your continued greiving. Italian sausage and tortellini soup. It’s filled with crushed tomatoes and beef stock and onions and garlic and yellow squash, and a red pepper and carrots and mushrooms, and then of course tortellini at the end. YUM! My recipe is very similar, but thanks to you, now I will add carrots and mushrooms.

I am more thankful for DH every day...ohhh, the things he has helped me through these difficult years. I always tell him that I wish I could do things for HIM! Had THREE separate headaches yesterday. Woke up today, and felt one starting. He encouraged me to do stretches, even did them with me and said silly things to made me laugh. . Some of those stretches hurt sooo badly, but wouldn't you know--- alll the pain in my shoulders, trapezius, neck went awayyyyyy !!! I am going to the Y in a bit to swim at LEAST 200 meters. Even though my hip and quadricep felt WORSE after swimming last time, I refuse to stop going! To clarify---I know stretching and exercising are GREAT! I also know the amount of time I sit and writhe in pain is NOT good. So I start doing all the things I learned in PT, and *many* times, it just makes the pain worse. It's just a vicious cycle! Went and ran errands yesterday----lotss of walking (good !)---but felt like my left hip was torn the rest of the night. Oh well, thank goodness for ICE and my trusty TENS unit !!!! Ugh....thanks for listening.

In my house I have a great dishwasher. We have some nice mugs from Le Cruset and they were expensive and cannot touch each other in the dishwasher. One has broken but no one else believes me. Father’s treasured drinking glasses are touching cheap Amazon glasses and they keep breaking. I am the Danish architect here and the people living here or who lived here previously have all had lessons.
I need something for lunch. Maybe a protein drink? I am kind of sick of them. I need something.

I've been trying not to make eye contact with the apple cider donuts in Trader Joe's lately, but apple fritters are my first choices ALWAYS. LOL.....me too, except the apple cider donuts at Aldi. I just knowwww they're scrumptious, and the LAST thing I need to be eating! I've been wanting to go peruse alllll the new Fall goodies at Trader Joe's! It's a bit of a long drive for us, I wish we had more locations. We have many ctly awesome grocery stores much closer, but TJ's is so fun with all their unique items. Good thing is, when I finally get to TJ's, there's a Whole Foods across the street. I can't wait to go to BOTH asap!

Maybe DH and I should do that. Birds make the sweeetest songs! Oh, you should. The App is in conjunction with Cornell University and is so cool! I'm so sorry you're dealing with headaches (and lots of other pain.) My mom suffered from horrible migraines and, thankfully, I didn't inherit them. I haven't had a headache in decades and often tell Dh if I get a sudden bad headache, call 911.

scrapmaven....the cat cigar comment reminded me---that's just another part of our history that the "young'ns" don't understand (kinda like " broken record"). I'm pretty sure my Dad did the cigar thing when we were born (and I wish I had photos of it!) I'm going to see if my niblings know about it---but I can imagine them saying "whaaaat? Why would Grandpa give out CIGARS to celebrate?..... What does that even MEAN?" .. "why would hospitals allow **gasp** SMOKING in the waiting room? (of course, it depends on if they've seen older TV shows / movies about it) On a related note, I almost DIED while perusing a Nursing textbook from the 70's that showed doctors and nurses in a meeting with ASHTRAYS on the table! And my Mom was ENCOURAGED to smoke while pregnant to keep her weight down; yet, I weighed 11 pounds at birth . (My other 3 siblings were in the normal 7-8 pound weight range, though).

Hate to be a negative Nancy----but since I posted about the headache dissapating, it's now back and getting worse. Head beginning to THROB. Guess I'll do some more stretching. Please wish me luck in swimming *at least* 200 meters in laps today. If possible after that, I'll do lots of water-walking. I'm trying to stay positive, and work through the pain. We realllllly want to travel to see both sides of our families for Thanksgiving. It has been too long, and we miss them! We also have a precious newborn great-niece to snuggle!

I have not slept well the past 2 nights. It has really hit me this afternoon so I took a 2 mile walk and feel a little better. Met YDS for brunch. DH then went on to a couple of grands soccer games but I just wanted to come home, so I did. Have watched some football and did a little card making. I make take lucyg's idea of sloppy joe's for dinner. We have some buns that need to be used.
