This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members. If you are on a Team, complete the 4 challenges and post them on this thread for an extra 4 points

Happy October Pokey! We're spoiled by nylene, always having this thread up and running before the rest of us even realize it's a new month, but with her currently recuperating (and her shoulder getting moveable, strong and painfree to enjoy crafting again!) I thought I would pop in and start our thread!J Not sure if I mentioned that we finally named the new cat: Cleopatra. It suits her perfectly. She rules the roost after only this short time! Linda - hoping your clean up is progressing well. Seeing the news articles about NC - this storm claimed a lot of lives, more than I'm used to reading about, which makes me think this storm hit areas that aren't as frequently hit and thus weren't quite as prepared? I'm really glad your DH made the trip smoothly and that the kitties are doing well together. Fabulous layouts! I especially like the one of Chai. I made over 50 cards this weekend in my card event. So glad to have a stack again. I've left my box open beside my desk to challenge myself to make 25 more cards with the supplies before I'm allowed to tuck them away. I plan to reuse some of the designs with my own twists and colours. kellyr21 - we have a couple of malls around here that cater to the high-end stores - it can be humorous to pop in and see the prices! I picked up a $50,000 purse one time...it was nice...I didn't buy it... grammadee - we're cooling off too, and my deck tomatoes are shutting down. I got a few tomatoes - maybe 8? Need to figure out a garden for next year but I dunno where with all our trees. Too much shade. Off to work. Late day for me with CPR recertification tacked onto the end. joyfulnana - I'm in for Friday!

Thank you kitbop for stepping in this month while nylene recovers. Yes - Helene was a hurricane quite a long ways inland - typically once they hit land they drop rapidly in intensity. In my area, about 90-100 miles from the coast, storms (even Cat 5) are usually a depression or tropical storm by the time they reach us. Helene was a Cat 4 at landfall and still a Cat 2 for us and a Cat 1 well north of us. Coastal areas expect hurricanes and tropical storms but Tennessee? Western North Carolina, Georgia... this is really unprecedented. It was a wind event for my area - trees down and uprooted, power poles down, some roofs blown off, fences down, electric substations damaged etc...but on the Florida coast, they had catastrophic storm surge (ocean and river waters coming on land) and then inland, they had a ton of rain as well plus the ground was already wet which made trees more likely to uproot and fall over and many of those trees were very big - and falling trees accounts for quite a few of the storm deaths. Our county fared much better than many but we still had 99+% of people without power after the storm (and in a rural county like this - most people are on wells so no power = no water). Last I heard there was still 35+% without power. I made over 50 cards this weekend in my card event. So glad to have a stack again. I've left my box open beside my desk to challenge myself to make 25 more cards with the supplies before I'm allowed to tuck them away. I plan to reuse some of the designs with my own twists and colours. wow - that's awesome!

These are from Friday morning right after the storm this is our driveway - my neighbours cut up as much as they could but the trunk was too thick for their chainsaws. Two men stopped by with BIG chainsaws (18") and cut the rest for me. side yard - part of the fence was taken down by a tree tree near the driveway more trees down the winds blew this part of the fence down - one section blew into our yard, the other into the neighbours yard and another tree - this one uprooted

Happy Tuesday! Thanks kitbop for getting our new thread going and Happy October to you all. Working on art today and attended a webinar this morning about art business. It was very helpful. Thanks to everyone who saw my YSL video. It was fun to put together and share some fashion history. One of the Peas from my other post shared these two museums in Paris that featured YSL and it was cool to see. The Petit Palais has a virtual tour that is pretty amazing. I felt like I was in Paris from by couch. Here is the link if you are interested. Link Herekitbop - Your new kitty sounds like she is a queen! So cute! How many fur babies do you have now? I saw your layout about the dog you adopted and it was so touching! Loved that! Wow, $50,000 purse! I would of been shaking if I held that for fear of dropping it. LOL! As much as I enjoyed seeing all these luxury stores (which I hope to shop in one day) JC Penny and Kohls are more my speed. linda - OMG, that hurricane did some real damage. SO glad you and your family are ok. Just seeing the pictures must make you more grateful. Any wind that can uproot a mature tree is a powerful force. WOW! Thanks for sharing these pictures and I hope your area stays safe.

Thanks for starting this thread, kitbop. Glad Cleopatra is fitting in so well. No one can reign like a CAT! WTG with all those cards! That's as many cards as I have put together all YEAR! OMG Linda. I would have been terrified to be in your home during that storm. So glad you and your dd stayed safe while all that was going on around you, and that your dh got safely to and from your older dd's home. nylene if you are reading this, I hope you are recovering smoothly. Can't wait to hear from you again.

Thank you, kitbop, for starting the Oct thread. I thought I had arranged for someone to do it, but must have slipped my mind. I am really struggling with the pain this time. It's partly because the dr expects his pts to get by the last 2 hours of the 6 hrs between pills on tylenol and ibuprofen. I can't take either so it's just a miserable 2 hours. I am on the ice machine as much as possible. I don't see the dr until the 7th. Hopefully it will begin healing and feel better. I will check in when I can. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

So good to see you, nylene! But so sad about your pain. Can he prescribe something you CAN take to get you through to the next pain med? I badgered doctors and pharmacists until they came up with a plan to help dh with his pain. From my own post op experiences over the years, the quickest recovery times were when procedures followed--as one nurse explained it to me--"getting ahead of the pain" Never came home with an opiod addiction. But that was in hospital where they were in charge of when and how much medication I could have. I can see that they are afraid if they leave that to the patient at home, that patient may want to get so far ahead of the pain they never come back. Hang in there! Gentle (((((hugs))))).

((((Hugs))) and prayers nylene - I'm so sorry that your pain isn't well controlled. I hope there's a better plan going forward and that you will have less pain soon. Enjoyed seeing grammadee on mom's crop today but now I need to start packing.

Happy October! Linda safe travels! I can't wait to hear all about the trip and see the pages you're going to make. thanks for checking in nylene! I'm sorry you are dealing with so much pain. I hope they can come up with something you CAN take. Wanted to pop in and say I'll be here 7:30 EST tomorrow! Work has been oddly busy for this time of year and it's so weird.

I'm feeling excited for you Linda! England is a hard country to pack for - space consuming items too! Love your "happy trails" LO - nice when a 4x6 card fits your page that perfectly! nylene - oh my, this recovery sounds rough. I'm really praying for you: it will all be worth it in the end! Is the new recliner helping with sleep at least? I shouldn't pester with questions - you can tell us later when you have the comfort and energy to join us - but you missed!

Good morning/afternoon, Pokeys.
Hope to drop in to chat a bit this evening. I am in house cleaning mode this morning. Have invited people for dinner Saturday, so need to spruce up the joint! Cooking tomatoes later for the lasagna, but while dh is in town for appointments, I am taking the opportunity to wash the kitchen/dining room, as well as the entrances. Still have lots of dusting and vacuuming to do...

Thanks kitbop - I think I'm packed...I hope I don't have too much and also have enough. My suitcase is only 30lbs but I think it'll still be hard to carry up and down stairs and I know at least one of our lodgings is all 1st and 2nd storey (US 2nd and 3rd) with no lift. Headed out after work so DH can buy a couple of things and I can get groceries for the girls. We'll have takeaway pizza tonight.

grammadee I relate to that so much! Once I sit down, it's over lol. How is DH feeling? I just mentioned in the team thread that I have a LOT of knitting to get finished before Christmas. It's NOT going well because Bess wants to run off with it, needles and all LOL. I'm going to make some fake knitting for her to run off with lol. I've got 2 pages that just need journaling and a little embellishing. I want to try to finish those while I listen to football. I hope the pain is becoming more manageable nylene and you'll start feeling better soon. I hope everyone is having a good weekend! It was good to see you guys Friday! I was tired from working over, but cropping makes it all better

Good morning, Pokeys! Thanks, joyfulnana. Dh is finally driving himself again. He went to town for his appointments this morning, and I had the house to myself. Probably should have done some of the cleaning I have been putting off while he has been here, but instead I decided to play with paper. Completed two cards for today's CARDtober challenge, and two LO's--one from a kit I had packaged up a month or two ago, and one using 49&Market pp that really only needs photos and title and journaling to complete. I too am thinking of you, nylene, hoping all is going well with your recovery. How are you doing, gramma? Hope the jet lag isn't too bad after your Hawaiian adventure. Can't wait to hear all about it. Now I need to get back to real life. Need to freeze some cooked tomatoes that didn't make it into the lasagna and prep for fridge storage the beets dgs and his dad dug for me yesterday. Sometime this week, I need to cook up some pumpkin for pies next weekend, and prob do another batch of tomatoes. Thinking another lasagna bake will have to wait a couple of weeks...

Happy Monday! Waving hi to you all. To our traveling Peas, I wish you well. To our leader nylene I am sending you virtual flowers and warm wishes. We had a slow weekend and it felt nice. Still pretty warm around here but I guess Fall will show up soon. Maybe in like December!!! LOL! Got some housework to do today and organizing my todos. Left some love in the gallery for many of you. Love seeing all the wonderful layouts and cards. grammadee- Glad your dh is better and getting around. Your lasagna sounds delicious. Your garden did well this year. joyfulnana- So cute that Bess wants to play and knit with you. LOL! I am glad you gals are getting along well. I didn't see how the Chiefs did over the weekend but I hope you enjoyed the game. We had a all losses here. All our teams lost NBA, MLB, USC, and NFL. Well, maybe the next games will do better. AussieMeg- I hope it is warming up and headed toward Summer there. I enjoyed your lo with handsome Boris. SO cute!

AussieMeg- I hope it is warming up and headed toward Summer there. Ha, I wish! We are five weeks into spring, and today we are heading for a whopping top of 14 C (which is 57 F). That’s winter weather! 😫 At least I had a lovely weekend of scrapping, because the weather was too blah to do anything. That’s one good thing I guess.

Happy? Monday peas! kellyr21 the Chiefs play tonight! I'm not sure if there are 2 Monday night games tonight or not. I really don't like that are 2 Monday night games and that you have to pay to watch one of them. If the NFL is thinking they are going to be pay to see only, I will stop watching. I still feel salty over the whole stadium thing from April, so the NFL doesn't need to be pushing any buttons for money from me lol. I'm sorry your teams all lost. Boo! Our baseball team The Royals are playing tonight in the playoffs as well, so it's exciting around here for sports fans. It's fairly nice here, high 70's and low 80s this week. I have neither the furnace or AC on at the moment. The first day for that lol. AussieMeg I'll take your cold weather from you lol. I know how much you hate it anyway and I like that better than heat lol. Being post menopausal is no joke LOL! grammadee I vote for playing with paper over housework! 100% every time, which is probably why my place needs cleaned lol. I didn't make much headway with my pages this weekend. I hope you have better luck! Linda's DD's have been on my mind all day over this incoming hurricane. It's going to hit the entire state, and I hope the girls will get through it ok being by themselves.

Linda asked me to let you know the girls are safe, and they are well prepared for Milton. The house is quite a bit North of Tampa and they are going to be on the outer side of the cone, so aren't expecting as much from this as there was from Helene. And she's having a blast in UK. That really eases my mind. The girls have been on my mind all week!

Happy Wednesday! Waving hi to you all! So glad linda's girls are ok. Also, glad she is having a great time in the UK. Thanks joyfulnana for the update. It's been a nice week so far. Doing some painting today and I am gonna upload my mini album card I made months ago. I totally forgot! LOL! Ron has a long day today with a recruiting event. So I will have more time to paint and play. It's recruiting season for him so he will be going to events tomorrow and Friday. AussieMeg- Sounds like both of our weathers are a little confused! LOL! Mine thinks it's still Summer and yours thinks it is still Winter. joyfulnana- What a game! Patrick is such an awesome player. Do you go to the games sometimes?
