Happy October! How is it already October when we just had summer? We're gonna have a not-so-fun heatwave this week and it certainly doesn't feel like fall.
Today we have a roofer coming for an estimate on a new roof. Gee, can't wait for the destruction, mess and noise. Then it's a quiet day at home. I'll probably play my game a bit. Dinner will be enchiladas that I'll make in the toaster oven.
What's on your menu?
What is everyone up to today?
How is everyone doing? How are our tired peas from yesterday?
leannec, are you up to filling us in on speed dating?
May today be happy, very calm and give you lots of reason to smile.

Still making progress! Off the vent and today they start sizing down the trach tube to get rid of it as well! Still doing PT and getting stronger, but not yet able to stand on his own w/o assistance. He told PT yesterday that his goal for the week is to be able to stand with the aid of a walker. Hopefully he'll get that accomplished. I'll post more later today but am on my way to the hospital now.

scrapmaven (((Hugs))) **GypsyGirl** - sounds like he's making really good progress. Quiet day here. Schools reopened today post-Helene so DD17 went to school. DH took the Mini back to the dealership (2hr drive one way) - the part they ordered when it was there last week came in. DD24 and I are enjoying the kitties interactions (my 4 and her 2). Her youngest Thumper - obviously remembers the routine from when we fostered them last fall. I went up wake DD17 for school and out he ran, squeaking and demanding breakfast (I used to feed him after waking her - DD24 has a later schedule for them). DD ended up getting up early (before 7am) to feed him. Dinner is mini-meatloaves (a Bisquick recipe), mashed potatoes, and probably sauteed zucchini and glazed carrots

Today we have a roofer coming for an estimate on a new roof. Gee, can't wait for the destruction, mess and noise. You may be surprised. Granted I only have a small ranch home but it wasn't too much of a bother when they did our roof. Granted, it was right after Esther had passed so it's quite possible I was incredibly distracted but I don't remember it being too much of an inconvenience. Hopefully yours will go smoothly too. How are our tired peas from yesterday? I was asleep by 8:30, in bed at 7:30 and then up at 4. I felt well-rested this morning. However, I'm starting to come down some. We may be getting a big rainstorm here shortly which always seems to perk me up. I always seem to do my very best work on rainy days. I don't have a lot of work work today. I thought I had a meeting at 8, but when I went in this morning to refresh myself on the topic, I realized that it was just something I had on my calendar as a reminder to myself. So no meetings today. Yay! If the rain stays away, I will slip out for a walk today with my friend Jenn. I am unsure what I will have for dinner. I'm considering a stir fry with some snap peas, bok choy, kale and tofu. I have some udon noodles. Yum. Or I might make some vegan pizza. Jeremy has a frozen pizza so I thought if he wanted pizza, I'd make myself one too.

Good morning! I fell back to sleep at 5:30 when DH got up to play golf and didn't wake up until 7:20. I sleep very hard and have lots of dreams that I remember. I'll run a few errands this morning then start with some projects around the house ~ we have friends arriving in a week to spend the night with us. I also need to order the last 2 batches of prints from Freeprints for my crop later this month. Dinner will be spaghetti and meatballs. We're going to be at 99° for the next few days. Ugh!

Happy October first!
It's shaping up to be a busy month. I've got relatives coming into town in the middle of the month, lots of family birthdays and DS just booked a trip here for the end of the month. I think I need to hire a housecleaner before everyone gets here to get the house in good shape. DS is the only one who will be staying with me but I'd like it to be spic and span before he gets here.
Yesterday was frustrating as my fantasy team did really poorly and my Seahawks lost. Ready to reset with a new month.
Dinner tonight will be rechauffe of the hamburger casserole I made last night. My sister was the only one to come over so I still have enough to feed an army. I'll eat it the next few nights and then freeze what I don't eat. I'm off to pick up my grocery order and then back to work.
Hope you all have a great day!

Linda, my cats wait, quietly until I get out of bed. They just stare at me as if to say, "if you don't get up and feed us soon, we're going to eat you for breakfast". Kitty cats are so much fun. jeremysgirl, it sounds like you're ready to have a good day. Woohoo. I hope that you can get out to walk w/your friend. Thank you for the reassurance about the roof work. cadoodlebug, that you sleep well is such a healthy thing. No wonder you wake up ready to take on your day. hutchfan, enjoy today. Tearisci, good luck w/your fantasy football this season. Yds cleans up each season. I don't know if it's strategy or luck or both.

Good evening all, Another quiet day for me, just a couple of loads of laundry to do. I started a cardigan for Sophia today, which might go with me on vacation as it is really straightforward now I’ve set up the pattern. I just had a message from one of my colleagues, asking if I can go in to school for her tomorrow, so it will be a busier day. I also have an appointment at my GP office for a blood draw first thing. I think I might do a first run of packing (or at least choosing clothing) tonight as I won’t have as much time as anticipated tomorrow.
Dinner tonight will be my cheat’s okononyaki. I use preshredded coleslaw mix instead of grating my own cabbage and carrots - it also means less leftover vegetables, which is important when we’re off Thursday morning.

Good morning! I'm still pretty tired today but I think I am shaking off my grumbly-ness. I did get a bagel for breakfast today. I stopped at Panera to pick up half a dozen so we have plenty now. Nick did pretty well making burgers and fries last night. Neither of us were very hungry so we have leftovers of that. We worked together to throw together a very big chicken pot pie for tonight. I'll let him know when I'm getting off the toll road and he will slide it in. We will have plenty of rechauffee from that too. Today I have 2 classes again, but when I am done tonight I am done driving over, so this is kind of my Fridat. Pushing thru a couple of days and then I have lots of discretionary time. I still have work to do but not the commute, which is nice! I got a half bushel of apples, so I need to get busy using those. We got a small chest freezer and I'd really like to get it setup downstairs so I can prep pies and desserts and freeze, then just whip them out to bake, esp for the holidays. I always freeze cakes as part of the process of stacking and decorating, so having that area would be great. Until then, I need someone to keep me accountable for working through my freezer. It is completely full and it will go to waste if I don't commit to stopping shopping and just use it. Anyone up for a challenge?? This is an epic post today. Does anyone remember the Pea who would post really long posts? Heartcat, maybe? Not sure if they made it over to this board. Wishing everyone a fantastic day! I work best on cool rainy days too, jeremysgirl. Although they are my favorite days to just chill with a mocha and a book too.

Good morning everyone!! I have been to the doctor's and now we wait. This was a usual 6 mos check-up but I mentioned my stress levels and not feeling just great over the weekend. So hopefully bloodwork and urine cultures will come up with something. Here's the funny: I have a very high pain tolerance. Every time I would go to the doctor, they would call me and say you have bacteria in your urine, protein in your urine, yada yada. Do you feel bad? Nope, never did. DD and I both are this way. So today I joked with them that since I actually do feel bad and think I have a kidney infection, I am sure it will come back clear as glass. They laughed and said most likely. I also took another controversial step to get off of some of the Big Pharma meds I am on for pain and to help me sleep. We will see how that goes.
Tonight, Obedience class starts. Every 6 months, there is a guy here that does a basic command class. Costs $60. I took our older dog 2 years ago. While he did great, he just sometimes talked a bit with the other dogs there. I took our youngest last March. She did great. Except for the down/stay command. I don't care how much we work her, she will down but she will not stay. I have been working with them both in the morning. They get "snausages" before I leave for the office. The oldest throws himself down and waits. It takes a try or two with baby Shiloh. She eventually gets there but wants to pop right back up. So I hold the sausage and say down and keep her low. As soon as I am up or the sausage is gone, it's all over. sigh...
I also forgot to cancel my Home Chef box. So dinner tonight will most likely be Korean BBQ tacos. I think it was the quickest prepared dinner in the box.

How can it be October??? It is one of my favorite months but I just can't believe we are this far into the year... I have been trying to record a class for over an hour now and am having technical issues. I am not a tech person so I am very frustrated. I am running to Target after work to get Halloween candy and a few miscellanious items. Then off to DGD soccer game. DGS won his game last night so he will play again tomorrow night. **GypsyGirl** so happy to hear the update on DH. Dinner will be out after the game.

tmarschall, I'm happy to hear that you got your bagel this am. In your next life would you open a bakery? naby64, big pharma wants you to stay on all of your meds whether or not they do more harm than good. I've had arguments w/2 doctors in the past, because I refused to take drugs for pain management. I hope that you'll get answers from your labs that will help you feel much better and much peppier. sueg, two more sleeps until your trip? This is very exciting stuff. I hope you'll have a marvelous vacation, because you're more than earned it. I added something small to my day. I'm gonna go get my flu/covid shot. Why not? Tmw is a quiet day and it's a good time to do it, because I get side effects.

scrapmaven luckily for me, both my rheumatologist and PCP are behind me on the reasons. There were some side effects of one drug and the rheumatologist told me to stop it. I have fibro, anxiety and depression. When I talked with my rheumy, he was 1000% on my solution. However, he works for a religious health system and said writing up paperwork for what we thought best would be grounds for dismissal for him. So today, PCP agreed and gave me paperwork. I can mostly manage the arthritis with OTC arthritis acetaminophen. But there are days when the breakthrough just sneaks up and WHAM! I need more. So I have stuff for the "as needed". I just didn't want to take something on the daily when I didn't need it. Sometimes I sleep well, sometimes not. I wanted something more "natural" to help me sleep. So I am very happy my doctors agree with me. And really want to work out the best method for me. Not just the money in the pocket for BP.

I made pasta a fagioli soup this morning and took some to my Walking buddy, along with a loaf of crusty bread. She had her bunion done last tuesday, so she is down for the count for weeks😢😢 I have been walking alone in the afternoon the past couple of weeks. It is boring with no one to yack with. So I kept back some of saiid soup and had some for lunch....so yummy!!
Dinner will be chicken thighs, roasted acorn squash from the garden and perhaps broccoli
gypsygirl...Glad to hear DH id making progress!!! scrapmaven...the good thing about the roof is that it is done in a day...they are so efficient...at lest it is not dragged out for days

I hate spending money on things like a roof, but we put a new one on earlier this year. Cost and disruption were both less than anticipated, so I hope it goes as well for you, scrapmaven . Want to see my apple tree? We have 3 times as many apples this year as last and are soooo excited. Well, we did have 3 times as many the other day. I'm not sure if DH couldn't resist harvesting one or someone else grabbed it. ETA Ooops, came back to way too many photos - sorry about that Dinner will be a chicken stir-fry over rice.

Today we have a roofer coming for an estimate on a new roof. Gee, can't wait for the destruction, mess and noise. We had our roof replaced twice on our house due to hail damage ... no big deal! Covered by insurance too! Now that I'm in a condo I don't have to worry about things like that! That is awesome news! I hope he is on the walker ASAP! I also forgot to cancel my Home Chef box. I have done that a few times with my Hello Fresh subscription ... doh!

I had a bunch of errands to run today so I'm checking in late ... Here's the Speed Dating Report! It was fun but the men there were not as interesting as last time ... I was more open to seeing someone so I checked off three but there was no match ... The one I liked more than the others enjoyed the same music as me (Country) so we had a good time talking about that! Too many of them lived more than 45 minutes away from me which is a deterrent ... OK, the one story I have: This one guy sits down and I thought I had met him at the last event I was at ... nope, he recognized me from a dating app!!! Ack! He must have liked my profile and messaged me! I don't respond to anyone that doesn't interest me on the apps and I know I wouldn't have responded to him ... awkward! . Longest ten minutes of my life! I still plan to do it again! My appetite has been really wonky lately ... I've even lost a bit of weight which isn't a bad thing ... no idea what I feel like for dinner ... soup maybe?

I have chronic kidney disease and get infections now and then, so I have these strips that you pee on and they show you if you have bacteria or white blood cells. They're inexpensive and I keep them for days when I'm feeling like I might have something going on - so it doesn't get worse. Maybe you can keep them on hand. I made soup yesterday so today was an easy dinner night for us. It's cloudy and cool here and the kind of day where I got everything done on the to-do list I've been putting off for a week. Yay
