Is that the only thing he misspoke? What did you hear that you like? OMG.... you fell into the media trap as to that's all he's done or misspoke? I'm not sure I can understand your point, it's 3.30 am here and I'm on antibiotics for a tooth abscess. I was making a couple of comments is all. No worries, just that as your response was that was what you really got out of this at the time that he misspoke and the US media is influencing your response and you fell for it. What about Vance? Just curious as the media is influencing what "you" meaning people see. I unfortunately, hope, that stupidity doesn't take over the US and the world because of money, stupidity and power.

This is not a debate if you don't answer the question.

Vance buddy if you want all to be able to have power and gas Trump needs to cut taxes on lower and middle income families.
Oh and we are currently under Trump's tax cuts and that is why we can't afford stuff.

Enlighten me … the Republicans always bring up that Kamala had 4 years to enact her policies and failed. She is the VP. Her job is to support the President, not make her own policies. Am I wrong about that?
Anyways, it was a decent debate, but I’ll give the win to Vance, even if he didn’t answer the questions. Walz needed a little more fire.

JD Vance debated well to his credit. I liked that they agreed on a lot on a lot of points and I hope we can hope for more partnerships in the future.
BUT - who can forget who his running mate is?! Common sense candidate? Wants to help the middle class?!
Jesus. I don’t think I have enough alcohol to get through this.
One thing I’ve pointed out to my sons - we’re immigrants (dual citizens with Canada) so we’re in kind of the same boat but we’re not the target because we’re white and upper middle class.
VOTE BLUE!!!

I think Walz did just fine...He sounded off with the first question..
Vance performed.. he blew it by not answering if TFG lost!
He also lied about not supporting a nation wide abortion ban. It is posted on his 2022 campaign web site that he supports a national abortion ban!!

I was surprised to be told that Trump saved the ACA and that the pre-existing conditions coverage was Trump's idea.

We didn’t watch, but we are watching the highlights on MSNBC with Rachel, Lawrence, et al.
JD Vance is a Yale educated lawyer. He should be able to handle a debate like this, comfortable in this type of environment. Tim Walz is a teacher turned politician and seems to have acted like someone who gets nervous in this type of environment, and doesn’t enjoy the shivving of the opposition which viewers like to see. People are weird they usually decry the venom but when a person doesn’t go for the jugular, people don’t like that either.
I don’t think this debate matters much for Walz. It’s still up to the viewers to decide if Vance’s inability to say who won the 2020 election, stance on abortion, immigrants, health care are disqualifying. Because that is the man who is actually likely to be president in 2028, if the GOP ticket wins.

I'm not sure how you think the media influenced me in the middle of the debate when I was only watching the debate. I think Tim could have answered that question much more effectively- he knew it was coming. I like the guy but as he says himself, he's not good at debate. Vance in his chameleon way sounded almost decent at times, but back on the campaign trail and in interviews he will revert again.Failing to answer the question about certifying the election was pretty damning. I'm sure some of his answers infuriated Trump however- would love to have been a fly on the wall.

Yep, you regurgitated the talking points of what to expect by the media. That walz wasn't good at debating. For someone who never watched a debate, what constitutes a good debator? Someone who never answered the questions and just agreed with the opponent. That's called deflection.

Can't wait for Vance's smokey eye liner to make a trend, along with dump's orange makeup glow for their next con to sell, along with dump 100,00 watch with all the diamonds. Guess they have to hide their flaws with the Epstein files.

I am just tired of vance and dump lying. Did you, not see that? That's what gets me, about the lies and the one "gotcha" that Walz said and it's all about that? and everything Walz said is dismissed. What about the 30,000 lies that dump said. Vance did not debate. Vance did not answer questions. Go back and read the transcripts. It was sensational TV. Debates are sensational TV and not a true debate. Go to a highs chool debate. Now there is a true debate.

Interesting. In the spin room there are the standup signs. One is for Katie Britt, another for Byron Donalds.. What are they promoting Britt for?? I found the answer.. I had not watch the pre-debate on CNN. Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL), a surrogate for Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance, deflected Tuesday when asked about former President Donald Trump's promise to be the "protector" of women."Ahead of Tuesday night's vice presidential debate, Britt spoke to CNN host Dana Bash about the "gender gap" between Republicans and Democrats. And recently, Donald Trump said that he, he said, quote, 'I will be your protector,' speaking to women," Bash noted. "What woman do you think he's trying to reach in saying, 'I will be your protector?' What's he trying to do there?"
Britt struggled to answer."So when you look at President Trump's presidency, um, and what he did for women during that time period, there were more women in the workforce than ever," the senator said. "Do you want to be protected?" Bash pressed. "And so, well, I do want my kids to be safe," Britt replied. "And I believe that the commander in chief should be in command." "And I think what he is saying there, Dana, is that right now, Joe Biden is not in command." www.rawstory.com/katie-britt-2669307850/

Delusional much..?? Where does DonJr get his ideas.... (Sure that will be Biden's thanks for all the help TFG gave for the transition for 2021) Donald Trump Jr. called for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to let his father "take over" some government operations following a vice presidential debate between Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) and Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN). Just moments after the debate concluded, former President Donald Trump's son claimed that his father had worked with Elon Musk to bring internet access to victims of Hurricane Helene while the Biden-Harris administration "gave $8 billion to Ukraine." "(Hannity speaks)How about we just send it to North Carolina, Georgia?" Donald Trump Jr. said. "My father's doing more for North Carolina and Georgia by getting Elon to bring in Starlink and supplies to be able to create communications." White House spokesperson Andrew Bates has said the Starlink access was "already happening" before Trump called Musk. But that didn't matter to the former president's son. www.rawstory.com/donald-trump-jr-vance-walz/

This says enough. Rs in an uproar because the Ds "didn't stick to the rules" and "only fact check one side". I'm sorry, people in Springfield, OH (and it dragged down to Springfield, MO) are experiencing REAL LIFE fallout from your lies. FFS, just stop lying.

HCR posted a good summary of the debate. There’s more, but here’s what she wrote about Vance’s lies. heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/october-1-2024The campaign’s resistance to independent fact checking of their false narrative came up in tonight’s vice presidential debate on CBS The moments that did stand out in the debate put a spotlight on Vance’s tenuous relationship with the truth. When Vance lied again about the migrants in Springfield, Ohio, who are in the United States legally, Brennan added: "Just to clarify for our viewers, Springfield, Ohio, does have a large number of Haitian migrants who have legal status." Vance responded: "The rules were that you guys weren't going to fact-check.” There were two other big moments of the evening, both based in lies. First, Vance claimed that Trump, who tried repeatedly to repeal or weaken the Affordable Care Act, “saved” it. Then, Walz asked Vance directly if Trump lost the 2020 presidential election. Vance refused to answer, saying he is “focused on the future,” and warned that “the threat of censorship” is the real problem in the U.S. Walz said: “That’s a damning non-answer.” Former chair of the Republican Party Michael Steele said after the debate: “I don't care where you are on policy…. If you cannot in 2024 answer that question, you are unfit for office.”

I am going to be really annoyed if Vance is graded higher by voters and the media for “sounding more normal than usual.” Then you are probably going to be annoyed. I haven't read any reviews yet. My take is that Vance did himself a lot of good. The Vance we have heard about from people who knew him pre-Trump showed up and sounded reasonable (if no one pointed out how Trump's plans will massively raise prices and they didn't). If someone thought Trump's time in office was better for them but they were hesitant about voting for the raving lunatic, they might have been calmed by Vance. It would be easy for some people to justify Trump by thinking, Vance will be there to moderate him. I didn't stay for the ending. Maybe Walz did what I hoped he would do and point out that for as reasonable as Vance sounds on that stage, he isn't going to be calling the shots. He won't even get a vote once Trump is reelected. Look what happened with Pence. Walz stuck to his talking points, but he wasn't Walz. He didn't smile, he didn't connect with voters at all. He probably didn't hurt Harris but he was no help.

Liar.

I'm surprised nobody has yet mentioned (if you did I apologize as I'm reading this sans caffeine) that they had to cut off the mics because Vance wouldn't shut up, even though they gave him 2 or 3 warnings. He tried to keep on several other times when the moderators said they needed to move to another topic.

Urgh I thought Walz handled the 'misspoke' issue horribly. Vance has admitted he'll make up stories though so why does he gets a pass? It's almost 3am here 😩 Yes, I think Walz could have said a bit more about China. But he did say he misspoke, he did not deny it. That is far better then TFG and Vance... Yes, unfortunately TFG gets passes ALL the time. Vance also mostly.... I’m close to the same age as Walz and I can understand how easy it would be to not get the timetable of something that happened decades ago exactly right. There is easily a whole decade of my life around my 20’s where I couldn’t tell you accurately what happened when. DH and I were alternately in school, I was working multiple jobs, we were both burning the candle at both ends and in the middle simultaneously. If that’s the worst thing they can come up with to pin on Walz, I’d say he’s doing pretty damn good. Meanwhile, Trump & Co. have told flat out, bald faced, easy to fact check intentional lies day after day after day for YEARS. I really don’t understand why there isn’t equal treatment for both parties. The media really needs to hammer home the fact that dude lied over THIRTY THOUSAND TIMES while he was in office. How is that even remotely the same thing?
