Pizza is kid friendly, unless there are known allergies. I don't know any kids in my circle with dairy allergies or gluten sensitivities/celiac, so for my circle, pizza or pasta is just fine. Obviously if someone attending had those issues and let me know, Id arrange something else. Wow you're lucky. I honestly feel like everyone has a gluten sensitivity these days. My kids think Annie's gluten free mac and cheese is standard as I started buying it when they were young as the little girl down the street has celiac and I always wanted to be sure I had something on hand if it was lunch time. Whether robotics, soccer, swim team or dance - every group we've been a part of while they were growing up had a no-gluten kid. That's interesting. Do you think it could be an environmental issue? Like littlemama we don't know anyone in our circle that has issues with gluten. Growing up two of my kids had friends with a peanut allergy, one that seemed to be no big deal (no serving food with peanuts) and one that was life threatening (mom always called to remind us of the allergy and make sure food served was safe). My oldest actually discovered she has a "dairy" allergy in her late 20s. It's made cooking dinner quite difficult as it seems that cheese is in so many things--interestingly she's not allergic to all dairy, it's mostly milk and hard cheeses like parmesan and cheddar.

My 2 cents, since sushi is a food that some adults would question eating, I would let the guests know what I am making so we can plan accordingly. If you are guests in my house, we are close enough we can have honest conversations about food and such without offending each other. They can say, "Hey, my kid is not going to eat that" and I can plan something additional for the child or say, "Please bring something they would enjoy" With this said, DH and DS love sushi, me, not so much. I do not like avocado or nori. The last time DH made it I asked if he could put everything in a bowl except the avocado and nori. It was so good. No extra prep for him and I got to eat with them. This. If I had gone and there was an alternative, I would have made polite excuses before sitting and left. Sushi is absolutely not something I will eat and I have tried it many times. I am adult. It is a choice based on food tastes, texture and preference. There are plenty of options that I find to eat at a sushi restaurant that are not sushi so I can enjoy a meal with my family. If it is sushi only-nope for me!
