Good Morning.
I am continuing w/my office cleanup project. Though I do have to go to the store and pick up a grocery order.
What is everyone up to today?
We're doing the wild thing and going out for dinner. DH and ods can enjoy a meal and I'll sip a decaff or tea. I think we're doing Japanese food, but they still have to discuss the plan.
What's on your menu?
**GypsyGirl**, did your dh make it safely to rehab? How is he doing?
tmarschall, how are you doing today? I hope that you're doing much better.
Wishing everyone a happy, calm day!

Happy Tuesday!
I had an early morning doctor appointment with fasting blood work so I'm enjoying my first cup of coffee a bit later than normal but I definitely need the caffeine! I got my covid and flu shots today too so that's one thing off of my to-do list. I haven't had reactions to them other than a sore arm so I hope that continues.
Tonight is more birthday fun. It's my mom's birthday and we're taking her to Red Lobster. Should be a crowd of us again as my family does pretty much everything together. Tomorrow, I get a break from the birthdays and might actually cook something.
On a fun note, I booked a trip over Thanksgiving to see DS and his husband. We never really get to spend the holidays together so I'm looking forward to it. I'm sure it will entail watching a lot of football!
Hope you all have a great day!

We're doing the wild thing My brain came to a screeching halt after reading this....then, I continued on. Hahahahaha.... Enjoy spending time with your DH. I booked a trip over Thanksgiving to see DS and his husband. We never really get to spend the holidays together so I'm looking forward to it. This is nice. He will be glad to see you. We were just debating Thanksgiving the other day. Might just be table for two. I promised Jeremy a turkey breast with stuffing (his favorite) and sweet potatoes (my favorite) and then he suggested asparagus as a green vegetable. We will walk the Turkey Trot like we've done the past two years and then come home and watch all the Friends Thanksgiving episodes. And then have a candlelit dinner for two later in the evening. We did this two years ago too. Chloe was invited but she showed up drunk so we sent her away and had dinner by ourselves. This year, we're actually planning to be alone. I spent most of my dinner prep time last night making donuts. Because it just sounded good. And I haven't had a donut in like 6 months. So I made vegan ones. I even put sprinkles on them. Then I just whipped up one of those flatbreads I had been talking about with the whipped feta, sauted kale and red pepper and garlic lentils. Tonight I will make the Thai chili. I have one more meeting at 1 pm today. That's it. It shouldn't even take a full hour. I finished a report this morning. And now I'm just updating expense reports.

When dh and I had our TG's for 2, as we called them it was always really nice. We'd cook a small turkey breast and do sides and play video games together. I am the notorious TG hater, so for me it was really nice. Make the most of your day. There's nothing wrong a romantic TG. That brings us back to your intial thought about my supposed night. LOL. Ods will be here, so I'll save the fun stuff for another time.
Tearisci, how exciting that you're going to see your ds and sil. Happy Birthday to your mom. Enjoy dinner w/your family.

Our friends should be arriving around 10AM. Hopefully. She is usually late and DH won't be happy as he and his friend have to drive an hour to the golf course. It is out of my hands. Dinner will be Honeybaked Ham with a bunch of sides and cheesecake for dessert. I probably won't be on the thread much today or tomorrow. Wishing everyone a peaceful day.

Good evening all We left Venice this morning and are now in the beautiful Tirolean spa town of Merano. The rain was kind and held off until after we got to our car and out of Venice, then in rained all the way to here. It is still drizzling rain, but the lady who checked us in at reception said that the are expecting better weather from tomorrow. We are here to relax after our busy few days, so it won’t matter too much if we end up in our suite - it is spacious and gorgeous - or hanging in the spa area and indoor pool. Our dinner last night was wonderful. I started with scallops, then we shared a whole baked sea bass, before finishing with tiramisu

Happy Tuesday! A cool front (a tiny one) came through last night and for the first time in a week I woke up without a sinus headache! The humidity is gone for a while and that makes it a very good day! Only things on my list today are to run some things to DH at the rehab facility, then come home and get some paperwork done and bills paid. The 'fun' never ends around here! Yesterday the company I use showed up to plant the rest of my fall/winter veggies. So excited to give this a try. We are trying spinach, broccoli, lettuce, kale, carrots, radish, arugula, and a single artichoke. That's the one I'm most excited to watch grow. Had anyone here grown them before? I've never even seen one in the 'wild' so this should be interesting. If I have the energy tonight I am thinking about making a pot of spaghetti sauce. I'll have a bit for dinner and then freeze the rest in my Souper Cubes for the upcoming fall weather. Will also try to finish up the latest needlepoint ornament. I think it will take about 30 min. to wrap that up, then I can drop 3 off to the finisher's tomorrow. Hope everyone has a good day. Thinking of all those in Florida and sending prayers for less damage than they are predicting. **GypsyGirl**, did your dh make it safely to rehab? How is he doing? He did! They showed up to transfer him about 5:30 last night and we all left the hospital at 6 pm. I went straight home (after 6 hrs at the hospital I was wiped out!) and it took them about an hour to get to the facility. He's very happy to be there because it means the next stop is back home! I'll be going out around lunchtime today to take him some workout clothes and shoes. May treat myself with a stop at the quilt shop on the way home.

Have fun at dinner, scrapmaven. I didn't want to bump yesterday's thread, but this is my second cataract surgery. IME, both eyes are pretty much done together (my parents, MIL, etc.) but DH and I like to be unique. He had one eye (damaged in a childhood pellet gun accident) done 5-6 years ago and I had my left eye done 2 years ago (after my retinal tear repair accelerated it). The specialists are a little surprised my right eye caught up so fast but I'm thrilled not to wait any longer for the fix. My dad(95) is enjoying pointing out that I'm deteriorating at a faster rate than him. Hope you get good numbers on your blood work and only minor vaccine reactions, Tearisci. I had mine on Saturday and it's only been a sore arm for me. Dinner here is going to be Italian sausage (already cooked and pulled from the freezer) with vegetables (spinach, zucchini) over spaghetti squash or pasta.

I've never grown artichokes but still remember (and have photos somewhere) when I first saw one in the wild flowering. I could not compute that these thistles were going to be artichokes. Glad to hear your DH is in need of workout clothes. ETA your dinner looks stunning, sueg!

I'll admit it, my mind went someplace else too scrapmaven and jeremysgirl. We will be staying local this year as well for Thanksgiving. Usually my SIL has dinner for DH's side of the family. I am just ready to stay home the entire weekend and do nothing. It is my last break before getting busy for the next 5 months. My mind is telling me that is being selfish. I am prepping for teaching a class tonight. DH is on his own for dinner. He said he might fix something so that there will be leftovers for me when I get home.

DD is visiting but she and DS are going to a rock concert in Sacramento tonight (yes, these dingdongs are in their 40s) so I am on my own for dinner. I think I will defrost one of the gazillion packages of Italian sausage in the freezer as part of the great-freezer-clean-out-master-plan, and make spaghetti or soup or something. There’s a carton of mushrooms I want to use up, too. Our 100-degree weather is supposed to drop down to 87 today, so that’s kind of like soup weather, right?

off to aquafit. then this afternoon flu/covid vaccine. cleaning up more.. trying to put stuff away. dh is staying in idaho longer.. as the weather is nice there. I spent a productive hour with my travel agent yesterday and will go to pick up hard copy stuff at the end of the week. I am organizing a total family trip to new zealand, so it is complicated.. everyone is on different schedules and stuff.

I started with scallops, then we shared a whole baked sea bass, before finishing with tiramisu I'm totally drooling. I love seafood and tiramisu is one of my favs. May treat myself with a stop at the quilt shop on the way home. Yes, do it! Consider yourself enabled. My dad(95) is enjoying pointing out that I'm deteriorating at a faster rate than him. This made me LOL! I think my dad is going to live forever too. It is my last break before getting busy for the next 5 months. My mind is telling me that is being selfish. You need to tell your mind to hush. Take the time you need. Our 100-degree weather is supposed to drop down to 87 today, so that’s kind of like soup weather, right? Uh, nope. LOL! I left my windows open last night. It was 56 degrees in my house this morning. Hahaha... I actually walked around all morning thinking it was cool but not chilly. Then I took a shower. Yeah, I closed the windows and turned on the heat just to get the house a little bit warmer. I just turned the heat off. I just needed to get my chills off. Chills for me are rare. Especially at this stage (perimenopause) of my life. It's on its way to a high of 65 today. So I may open the windows back up.

I have news. It’s a good for me finally. I am in a size L yoga pant now and am comfortable. They were too tight last week. I haven’t weighed myself in a week but omg it’s working! My dad is going out for lunch again and I doubt he will want dinner. I am thinking about a Keg burger. There will be ample vegetation for me to graze on. There are cherry tomatoes (they are in a huge container and I cannot grow tomatoes here), cucumber, coleslaw and I bought multi-coloured carrots. Failing that I bought some purple beets at the farm and I may roast some. I could get them ready this morning and cook them later. Becki ( jeremysgirl ) has encouraged me on more than one occasion to cook when I feel like it. I truly get the feeling at 3 pm to prepare dinner and cook at 5. I am going to see how I like that. If I am eating alone that night I may not bother with dinner. Knowing I have food that’s ready to cook I may be more motivated to eat.

Delta Dawn, a last week maybe, bc2ca told us she preps throughout the day. And working from home, I've been doing that where I can. Like today, I took out a cutting board and washed my sweet potatoes. I did a random break earlier and peeled them. And then at lunch time, I chopped them. And when I'm done working, I'm going to chop up the rest of my produce while I have my afternoon coffee. I have really enjoyed this because it feels like a brain break.

In other news, I ate cheese this morning. And I've now got "mosquito" bites all over my back, shoulders, and upper arms. I may have isolated the culprit as far as whatever allergy this is.

I am still harvesting tons of tomatoes, so decided to make a ratatouille soup, it is simmering away on the stove , and I will have some for lunch. I added a can of red kidney beans to it for some protein. Dinner will be grilled chicken drumsticks, along with veggies TBD. It was pretty cold here this am..right around 50 degrees....I refuse to turn the heat on!!! I just added an extra layer....I did put the heat, the butt warmer and the steering wheel warmer on in the car as I headed to the market!!
scrapmaven enjoy your "dinner" out!! Tearisci..HappyBirthday to your Mom!! sueg...That is my kind of dinner...Looks AMAZING!!! Enjoy that Spa!! GypsyGirl...Glad DH made it to rehab!!! prayers for rapid improvement 💝

We went to the local farm market this morning and bought a couple pumpkins, gourds and straw bales to decorate the front porch for fall. My fall mums bit the dust so I needed to get them off the porch.
Tonight is my monthly alphabet supper with my former coworkers. We are on the letter “U” so we are going to Ups and Downs which is a local pub.
Our Canadian Thanksgiving is this weekend. I will be cooking a turkey but not sure what day. I thought when my kids found partners and moved out of the house, they might invite us for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner, but I’m still waiting… Apparently they assume that it’s my job and they wait for the invite!

My son has said since just after they moved out they were going to host Thanksgiving on Sunday. They want a first Thanksgiving and a First Christmas in their new home. I am so excited about this. I am eating everything on Sunday (except the dessert I don’t like blueberries). We decided we will take turns letting the dog out. I am good with that.
Dexter is getting groomed today and will be beautiful when I go get him.

Soooo, I don't have dinner plans. I don't have the heart energy to read and respond to all the posts today. My family is in the path of Milton and certain individuals on FB are making these storms political and I just have to step back from stuff for a bit. Just know I will read all your posts here. I'll be back soon. Promise!

I'm feeling really blue today ... I had to put my dd's on a guilt trip to get them to spend Thanksgiving with me ... I felt hurt that I wasn't a priority but Dad and boyfriends were. We have something planned now but I hate that it had to happen this way ... I have read the entire thread but I cannot respond to everyone today ... I'm sorry!
