I'm thinking of doing a senior year of high school album.
I know I read a few posts where some of you have done this.
Tell me all about it, please.
I would do a 6X8 size so I could have some full page photos and some page protectors.
I guess I would start in Summer with the last band practice, band camp, and all that.
I would do it like I do December Daily or October Daily with one story per layout but it would NOT be daily, just the highlights. They do senior night for band. There will be inductions for various clubs, homecoming, parades, festivals, all that.
Would love some thoughts and some links.
I was wondering if anyone approached it by having a divider for each month. If so, I would like to find a collection with match month words (Like simple stories new collection for the record but I don't like that one).
Please share links.
Should I revive it and delete this one?

Oh I wish I had done one monthly, that sounds like something a senior would cherish. I back- scrapped, is that a word? So, I only had highlights in my dd’s high school book.
One thing I would suggest, I do it for my 12x12 PL. I use a 6x12 transparency for monthly dividers. I make my own 4x6 title card with the month and a few embellishments. I like the way it looks, giving some division but also leads into the next month.

I have a Junior and a sophomore so will definitely be keeping an eye on this thread.
I know Stacy Julian did a photo a day project for one of her kid's senior year. Sorry I don't have a link but hopefully it will come up in a search.

That's a good idea to make my own. I can't really find anything that I like. And I do have a few month chipboard pieces or stickers that I could use to embellish it.
I don't typically scrapbook all the time, like all the events. I do travel journals and december daily, the occasional week in the life. This year I am doing project life and it's a NEVER AGAIN for me. It's just too much.
So I think doing the senior album like DD but not every day will keep it fun. And I won't be overwhelmed like project life. There probably won't even be one spread a week most of the time (and some weeks maybe 3).
All the lasts...
When I mentioned this to her she was really excited.

I definitely had a “Last first day” page! Her first page I have every school photo from K-11 (still tracking down first grade!) and talk about the years flying by!
I always smile in agreement when I read how over PL you are. I did my first one in 2012 and kept thinking, I’m sick of us! lol Good for you to keep it up, I think you’re a project finisher like me.

I made high school albums for my two kids, not just senior year. They are 4 years apart and I felt like that task would be manageable in the vast world of "what do I scrapbook"?
I used 8.5x11, often one pic per page/event. That size was good for including award certificates and programs. Senior year, I did a lot of "last" theme pages, and several "then and now." My favorite is my son holding a picture of himself on his first day of kindergarten, taken on his last day of high school.

Childfree here so not really my business but if you want this album to capture this particuliar era in her life, make sure to include: - current context at start of the school year + end of the school year (printing an article on the presidential election, for example - especially pretty on vellum paper in the 6x8 format) - all the things she'll one day feel super nostalgic over (current smartphone + screenshot of her most used apps, packaging of her favourite foods and treats, screenshot of her most-played songs/artists, etc.) - what's-in-my-school-bag - "anatomy of your teenage bedroom" - a running list of the books she's reading/series she's watching throughout the year - an outfit of the day per season

I have an album on facebook and have a photo of every year from pre-k to this year and it's so crazy. I LOVE the idea of having a page with every single one. Like 2X2 squares in the page protector. Ugh. This project will be deadly. I always smile in agreement when I read how over PL you are. I did my first one in 2012 and kept thinking, I’m sick of us! lol Good for you to keep it up, I think you’re a project finisher like me. Yes. If I don't finish it now, I will never finish it. I have so many projects that just need a small amount of time to be finished but they just sit there for years (quilt, I got you. cross stitch project, I'm looking at you). I used 8.5x11, often one pic per page/event. That size was good for including award certificates and programs. Good call! Do they make page protectors for that size? I have never looked. I do have another book where I keep stuff like that. Those sorts of things could just stay in there. It used to be that one year almost filled on with all the grade school art and stuff. Now it's like 1 12X12 page protector with a few certificates and a professional photo. My favorite is my son holding a picture of himself on his first day of kindergarten, taken on his last day of high school. OMG. I bet this is amazing. - current context at start of the school year + end of the school year (printing an article on the presidential election, for example - especially pretty on vellum paper in the 6x8 format) - all the things she'll one day feel super nostalgic over (current smartphone + screenshot of her most used apps, packaging of her favourite foods and treats, screenshot of her most-played songs/artists, etc.) - what's-in-my-school-bag - "anatomy of your teenage bedroom" - a running list of the books she's reading/series she's watching throughout the year - an outfit of the day per season This is such a great list. Thank you! This project will be here sooner than I want it to. And hopefully we'll be in a new house before she graduates.

I did a high school album for DS last summer after he graduated. I did 9x12 so that all the certificates fit. I used one of Shannan Pages' templates for an overview page - 1 page for each year. And then did sections for academics, activities, and personal (driving, first car, first concert, etc.)
DS absolutely loves this album. I put in assorted bits and pieces of ephemera, photos of his friends, etc. and emphasized the accomplishments for things he worked hard for as well as all the "firsts". Grad photos and diploma finish off the album.

My mom did an album for my high school years. Definitely just the highlights. But I was in high school during a time when we took significantly less pictures. We didn't have smartphones back then. There was no method to the layouts or anything like that, so I can't contribute ideas to your "december daily" methodology. She basically just scrapped the pics in the normal way

1 page for each year. And then did sections for academics, activities, and personal (driving, first car, first concert, etc.) I like this idea! It might be easier to organize by them rather than chronologically.

Texas Scrap I got this idea from you. How did it go? Are you still working on it? Hey - I was reading the thread before I realized you had tagged me - LOL. So I am definitely still working on it. I had lots of motivation at the start - surprise - and then added stuff on and off, got distracted by DD, OLW, PL, WITL, etc. I am using a 9x12 album, pocket pages mostly but also doing some full pages and this is a good strategy for me. For now it is just senior year. For his XC season, I did an overview of the schedule and then created some template 4x6 cards for each race and included some photos from each one and I LOVE how that turned out. I also kept a 12x12 storage envelope and put things in it all year long like ephemera, certificates, photos, etc. And having started the album, I definitely took pictures and asked him for more pics along the way knowing I was trying to document the year. He loves that I am doing this - even if it's not done yet! I am really glad I started it last year and am hopeful that I will get it done by the end of 2025. Realistically, I am focused on PL and Dec Daily right now, still need to finish WITL, so I won't get back to his album til early 2025. I did add in his college orientation trip from this summer and I am pretty sure I will include his college move in and FDOS for college as it seems like a nice thing to include. There are some really great ideas in here I will definitely be adding in when I get back to the album. Lastly, I created little mini FDOS albums for both of my kids that include every FDOS in a 4x6 binder ring album. I gave them to each of my kids on the FDOS and it was a hit. I will still include a FDOS pic in his senior album, but I love love having these little FDOS albums with a photo or 2 from each year starting in PK3. I then added in the senior FDOS photo after the fact.

I have 2 graduating in June. I've done School of Life Albums since preshool. They will each have an album for high school, I separate by year. It's a way for me to coral all the stuff, events, awards, sports, etc. I do use 12x12. They are both involved in everything and it wouldn't fit in a smaller album. It is mostly pocket pages, and I tend to stick to the 4x6 ones because there are 2 of them. I try to make it as easy on myself as possible, lol. Each year starts with first day of school, then just follows the year. This year will include Senior Sunrise, Friday Night Lights (football games and the themes for each), spirit days, concerts, clubs, etc. I do mix in a few 12x12 layouts (prom, senior photos). In the past sports have been covered by one 2 page spread. Favorite photos, season stats. I "might" get a little more detailed and do a page per game. It will depend on how much space I have left.
I don't have a ton of suggestions for paper or supplies. For this large of a project I would get bored very quickly with one line of paper. I use anything and everything that speaks to me. Lots of journaling cards. But mostly just photos with writing.
Good luck!

Texas Scrap and janamkeI would LOVE to see photos of some of what you've done. For his XC season, I did an overview of the schedule and then created some template 4x6 cards for each race and included some photos from each one and I LOVE how that turned out. This sounds really cool! My kid doesn't do sports but it would be hilarious to document the 4,000 marching band events they have each year. I swear my town has a parade for every damn thing. Your template idea is genius. And now I want to go make a little album of all the FDOS pics. Since she was in day care I have kept large 12X12 albums for all the stuff. So I'm not documenting but collecting. On the first day for each year in School I put the date of the year in sticker letters and the professional school photo. When I have a class photo, that goes in the back of that sleeve. Then the rest of the sleeves for each year have one piece of white cardstock in the middle so I can have stuff in the front and the back of the page protector. So I've saved lots of drawings and art projects and all the certificates and programs in there. I started my phd program when she was in kindergarten and did girl scouts (troop leader) so I knew I wouldn't have time to do more. But I might go back and add spreads for things that are special when I'm not so busy. I think it was a good option so everything is organized and in one place. I think we are on the 4th album. I'll take some pics to share.

I need to add this project to my list!
