My usual burrito order is Carne Asada. All the places I go to, when I order it, I know I am getting a burrito stuffed with meat (sometimes too much meat), some pico de gallo, and maybe some guacamole. That is it. Nothing else. The other day we tried a new place in town. My carne asada burrito came with beans, rice and cheese inside. And, not too much meat. I ate it, but I was disappointed. I feel like they were trying to make their burritos look big by adding fillers.
So, what kind of burritos do you like? Do you always have beans in yours?

I never order burritos because they are full of beans and rice. Last time I was at a favorite taco place ( Casero Taqueria) I was excited when a friend ordered the shrimp burrito so I could compare it to my shrimp taco. The difference was rice and queso in hers. For those NOT from southern California, please note the California Burrito has fries instead of rice. It is a big disappointment from locals when they see California burritos on the menu in other parts of the country and discover there are no fries stuffed inside.

I don't normally get burritos but when I do I like them to have the meat of choice, some beans, cheese, salsa, oh and if given a choice, onions. I don't like rice in mine unless I am going to Moe's or Chipotle. And honestly, about the only time I get a burrito is if I am going to either of the 2 places mentioned. I am more of a chimichanga or taquito girl.

I never order burritos because they are full of beans and rice. That is funny how our experiences are different! And we both live in SoCal!

A carne asada burrito in San Diego should never have beans and rice added. I’d expect that north of Oceanside, but not below the 78.
I prefer a pollo asada California burrito with sour cream and fries.

My favorite burrito is Taco Bell's Grande Sausage Breakfast Burrito! I always order extra egg and cheese. I haven't had it in a while and now I want some! As it's now lunch time, I won't be able to get it until tomorrow morning.
LOL...other than that, I'm not a fan of burritos. I prefer quesadillas or regular tacos!

I like either a beef or bean burrito, depending on my mood, but like you, I don't want anything else in it...the rice and such is only a filler and doesn't belong in a burrito, IMO

I'm not big on burritos and never order them but all the ones I can think of around here come with rice and beans on the side. Never inside the burrito.

I’m just jealous that you can easily find burritos (or tacos, quesadillas or any other Mexican/Texmex food) Germany is a Mexican food desert!

The last thing we eat before we leave the country and the first thing we eat when we get home is TexMex. We miss it so much when we're gone!

Black bean (if no black beans, no beans)
Cheese
Mexican rice/red rice
Lettuce
Pork
Fresh salsa
Onion
Sometimes I get them wet and other times dry.
I have also added marinated cooked potatoes too. Oh my gosh they are so good!!

We have mostly fast food Mexican places around here, too, unfortunately. Lots of Middle Eastern and Italian. I would be hard-pressed to recognize a quesadilla. I can’t remember the last time that I ate a burrito. We have a Chipotle’s but I have not been in it.

And because of this thread, I am now sitting in front of an Edgy Veggie burrito from Moe's.

We are hoping we go to our local place enough that they know not to do that to us. That pollo asada CA burrito sounds amazing. Have you got a place in SD that is a favorite?

Here in my area of NorCal, beans are always included, and rice is at most places but not all. For my perfect burrito its meat (either carne asada, carnitas or pollo asada), beans, cheese and pico.
At my favorite taco truck I always order carnitas street tacos. Only carnitas, onion and cilantro in a fresh corn tortilla, with a lime wedge.

NO BEANS.. for me..
I'm pretty basic.. I want meat, cheese, rice (if possible) I HATE beans. I do like a plop of sour cream then onions and prefer them sauteed.

Well, all I can say is San Diego is weird. Bay Area here and I’ve never had (or even heard of) a burrito that didn’t start with beans and rice. Then you can add meat, cheese, and all the rest, whatever you like. I don’t think I’d like an all-meat burrito.

I don’t like the beans or rice either, so I always just order tacos. Seems like the places we go the burritos always have beans and rice so I pass on that. I’m picky about my tacos too. I only want seasoned ground beef (not chunks), lettuce, cheese, tomatoes (not salsa) and sour cream on a soft tortilla. And none of the other junk on the side either.

I live in the Midwest where most every bar and grill has a very un-authentic "wet burrito" on their menu. Ingredients vary, but usually ground beef, cheese, lettuce, and tomato with a mild (bland) red sauce poured over it. Not a fan.

I’m all about the “all meat” burrito. I don’t like filler (rice and beans). Most Mexican places around me have multiple burrito options. Regular (with rice, beans, pico, guac and sour cream), or all meat with or without salsa. My husband likes his burritos wet (drenched in red or green sauce, topped with cheese. You have to eat it with a fork and knife and I also don’t like that. I do like a well-made bean and cheese. Oddly enough, lots of places mess this up (cheese isn’t melted, beans too watery, or no proper cheese distribution-like all the cheese is lumped in one area).

No. The places near me have a dozen meat and some vegetarian options, but not ground beef. Unless we’re talking Taco Bell. I don’t think we’re talking Taco Bell here.

That’s exactly how I get my tacos, too, at the Mexican market in the little cowtown where I go for scrapbooking (Dixon). Soooo good. I guess we have plenty like that around here, too, but for some reason I only get them there. 🤷♀️

I'm not a huge burrito fan. Prefer the tortilla/stuffing ratio in tacos.
But if burritos are all that's available, I like green chile chicken or carnitas, cilantro rice, refried beans, pico, and a lot of guacamole. And Freebirds > Chipotle.

our mission burritos (wrapped in foil and big!!) always have rice, beans, meat or veggies, options are sour cream, cheese, guac, onions.. and you can always order them without rice and beans.
san francisco is the home of mission burritos.
