I was going through Amazon Prime to see what's available to watch so I can hold of on frndly for another week or so.
There some good stuff:
Christmas on the Bayou (love this one -- plus Ed Asner, the little kid actor is not annoying) White Christmas (the classic, not sure I've ever seen it but I'm going to watch it). Love Actually (not sure I can watch this again. I used to watch it every year but the infidelity is just too much now that I'm older. It's just too painful). The Holiday Inn (I've never seen it but how can you go wrong with Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby? Well, you probably can as it's from the '40s but I've added it to the list). The Family Stone (the cast is incredible. Luke Wilson. All you need to know). The Holiday (!!! Love Jack Black. It's so good). And last but not least, and only because I can't keep looking at Amazon
Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas. (the absolute best).

I saw a trailer yesterday for a new Christmas movie hitting theatres I believe? The best christmas pageantI'd prefer to watch at home... maybe next year it will be streaming. It was seeing Lauren Graham that sucked me into the trailer! I LOVED this book as a child. I've seen the play quite a few times. My daughter was in it once!
OUR LITTLE SECRET (premiering November 27) // Nice! I'm SO excited about Hot Frosty! Comedy and a half-naked hot guy (plus a tiny dog in the trailer)? Sign me up. That's an 8 pack!
Also, reminder that today's the day Netflix drops their Christmas movie featuring Pentatonix! MEET ME NEXT CHRISTMAS (premiering this very day, Netflix) // I watched it last night and I found it VERY cute. I don't love or hate Pentatonix, but the music and the group was fun. Christina Milan in Snow Globe will still be my favorite over this one. So much cheese done on purpose and a fun Italian/Dominican (or was it Cuban?) family.

I want to give a shout out to Love Hard on Netflix. I may watch it when it is nowhere near Christmas.

Alice Evans went off the deep end years ago. She's gone completely nuts and psycho and goodness knows I rarely judge harshly in the celebrity gossip cycle. But for having read about her descent into delulu for the past 10+ years, I simply cannot. I fear for her two daughters' mental health. Her cuckoo bedazzle-everything Etsy store was the only fun (and harmless) part of her madness. If you can track down screenshots of her blinged up "creations", I highly recommend the journey. 'Twas a thing of beauté. As you wish.

I just rewatched Five Star Christmas. Search Hulu. It would not let me add it to my watch list (???) but I could watch it and I don't remember too many commercials. It's even better the second time. Definitely watch this one. That Bethany Joy Lenz is just so lovely. The whole cast is fantastic. Five Star Christmas was one of the first (that I can recall) that actually put the COM(edy) in RomCom and also leaned into an ensemble. It's one of my favorites.

I just wanted to share that a friend of mine texted this morning to ask for help/ideas on hosting a Hallmark Christmas movie watching party at her house next month! SAY LESS, SIS. :D I have Hallmark Christmas movie bingo cards that I'm going to bring & I think she's going to have everyone bring their favorite mug + a red or green treat, and she will be providing a hot cocoa bar. We discussed prizes -- maybe Hallmark Christmas movie ornaments? If you have any suggestions, let me know! What about some kind of homemade trophy for the grand prize winner that can be the prize for years going forward? The Christmas Cup or something like that? I'm imagining a red pickup truck with a tree in the back on the top.
Oh! and what about some prizes that are the product placement items? Like Daisy sour cream, Folgers coffee, Walmart reusable tote....

Definitely one of the "This is my Hallmark movie watching mug" mugs (available from several places in the US, including Etsy). AliExpress also has Hallmark watching socks but it may be too late to order them depending on exactly when the party is hosted. You have got to go all in!

Basically a decorated container with popcorn, candy, cocoa/tea, purse sized tissues pack, cozy socks, etc.

SANTA TELL ME // This is not bad movie but I feel like they should've scaled back and done two movies instead of trying to cram two different narratives into one (probably for creativity brownie points). I like the mystery aspect of "who will she pick?" but the trailer was a dead giveaway (alas). I also felt like the male lead (Daniel Lissing) lacked the edge that would've given this enemies-to-lovers story some bite. Overall, pleasant but fell short of the ambitions, I feel. Sometimes, it's better to pick one story and execute it well rather than attempt two and kind of fail. The TV presenter being forced to renovate her childhood home by production was actually a promising storyline that deserved to be carried out properly. ETA: Revising my review and giving it an extra star as I feel I've been a bit unfair to it. I rewatched the second half of the movie tonight because it was lingering on my mind. I do love the magical train station finale and the kiss. I was a little too harsh on this one. ⭐⭐⭐½

HAPPY HOT FROSTY DAY I'm saving it for later in the season. You are a better person than me! I have pâté, cornichons, fresh baguette, a bunch of clementines and wine for tonight's "picky dinner" in front of Hot Frosty. Shameless, I tell ya, utterly shameless. Also, this will be my 16th new movie of the season...

I made the mistake of starting The Family Stone.
I kinda hate it.
I remember really loving it the first time I watched it. But it's just a lot. I get that the family is a bit much and they are just laying it all out there (not holding back for the new guest). But seriously, there is no reason for them to hate SJP so much right from the start. They are just downright mean to her.
So my Amazon ends tomorrow so I'm going to finish it tonight.
I know it has a good ending (but a strange one with a huge gaping hole in the plot) but it's going to be hard to get through it.
Incredible cast. Claire Danes is just so beautiful at all ages.

HOT FROSTY (Netflix) // Here it is, my second perfect score of the season so far. This was everything I'd hoped for. Hot Frosty has heart, great acting from the entire cast, impeccable comedic timing, the right amount of suspension of disbelief for a magical Christmas movie (it's OTT but hey, it's a snowman-come-to-life movie, get with the programme), little nods to Mean Girls (Kady!) and the NCCU (Netflix Christmas cinematic universe) sprinkled throughout, gender role reversal (the Pretty Woman scene is chef's kiss), and more. Don't sleep on this one. It's fun all the way through, even when the end credits roll and they've inserted an old-style blooper reel that truly made me laugh. A word of caution: Jack the snowman actually wears a shirt for most of the movie. 😄 My SO has retitled this one Sexy Olaf (and boy, Ted the vet nails the ingenue character). ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I made the mistake of starting The Family Stone. I kinda hate it. I watched it when it came out and never again which is close to unbelievable considering the cast. SJP! Luke Wilson! Claire Danes! Diane Keaton! Rachel McAdams! I know it's on some people's forever faves holiday movie list but it was just such an unhappy and unfair movie to me. Hard to believe it came out a couple of months after the marvelous 2005 Pride & Prejudice movie. I saved money from my part-time nanny gig to watch both of these at the cinema and wished I hadn't paid a ticket for The Family Stone.

Agreed. Super cringe. But I just finished The Holiday. I think it's the absolute best holiday movie ever. I'm so glad I snuck it in before my free month of Amazon prime expired. Jack Black, Kate Winslet, Jude Law (hello.), Cameron Diaz. So so good. And there's a little dog.

I find some of it a little cringey but Kate Winslet and the old man are the most wholesome love story. Her character is life goals between that cottage and her carefree love of life once she gets to LA - I love her so much more than Cameron Diaz’s character. The scene with switching between the phone calls is amazing, so funny. And Jude Law… oh man. Delightful. Glad you enjoyed it too.

The Holiday is lovely and never gets old, totally agree! blemon joblackford The cottage was having a moment again on social media last year, did you ladies see? People were posting it as interior inspiration and sourcing furniture + decor to create their own Holiday cottage at home. 😍 House & Garden UK published a great article about the cottage last month. www.houseandgarden.co.uk/gallery/the-cottage-from-the-holiday

We watched the Pentatonix Christmas movie last night, "Meet Me Next Christmas", and my DD was so impressed with my prediction for the ending. That's part of the fun in watching these movies for me. Oh, except that one horrible one... Kristin Davis and what's his face? ROB LOWE. Had to Google: "Holiday in the Wild". NEVER WATCH IT EVER. I think I post this every year, but I stand by it. I lose track of the movies, but certain ones stick out. This is one of them and I hate it.
We're going full on Christmas this weekend. We usually wait until the day after Thanksgiving (Nov 28 this year), but I've been so down... DH thinks we need to decorate early and we're swapping between Holiday Baking & Christmas movies. Possibly a Chiefs game is T-Swizzle won't be finishing out the Eras. We also have a new kitten (he's almost 8 months now) so that'll be especially interesting once we get all the stuff up in the house.
Anyway. Did anyone mention the new Jack Black Christmas movie coming? "Dear Santa", I think? My kids and DH are especially excited for that.
