**GypsyGirl** those Yorkshire buttons are fabulous! How long did it take you to make one? That was my first one and took about 2 hours start to finish. Might have done it a bit quicker but we'd have to stop and wait on others to catch up. This is the 60mm size form. We were also given a smaller (40 cm?) size form. Once you get the warp wound on and the first couple of backstitch rows done, it goes rather quickly. Very meditative once you get into the rhythm of it! The instructor was Catherine Redford. It was my second class with her (first was embroidery) and I really enjoy her as an instructor. The instruction book is Yorkshire Buttons by Gina Barrett. The instructor recommended Gina's YouTube channel for further ideas and instruction: Gina B Silkworks

**GypsyGirl** I think you have found a new addiction! Is it a centuries old craft? I have a very distant bell ringing in my head that it’s from medieval times I suspect you are thinking of the Dorset button which dates back to the early 1600's. We were told the Yorkshire button is a more recent style, within the past 100 years or so.

October was a slow month for me crafting-wise. I finished a few scrapbook layouts and worked on the wedding sampler cross-stitch for my DD and new SIL but that was it. I traveled 3 weeks of the month for work and the week I was home was for my DD's wedding so I didn't have a lot of time for crafting. This week I have another work trip and then next Saturday we are heading "home" to Disney World for a week. After that I don't have any work travel plans until next year (and hopefully it stays that way!) and our only personal travel plans are to go to Hawaii to spend Christmas with my other DD and her family. Hopefully that means I'll have more time for crafting coming up!

I'm thinking that I'll tackle Jane Crowfoot's Spirit of Flora project after that. Seriously these squares are stunning. Janie Crowfoot does it again! I swear that lady's got more talent in her little finger than I've got in my whole body. Now that I have finished the Westknits MKAL It is GORGEOUS! Seriously. The colors are perfect. The pattern is great. Just well done! I finished another prayer shawl. This looks so soft and pretty. I am just finishing up the last of the hand stitching on the binding for this quilt. I am loving the scenic fabric squares. How pretty! I picked out the fabric I wanted to use a few months ago. But when I got to the shop yesterday, I saw all the Christmas fabric was on sale for $10 per metre. I decided to make myself a Christmas print dress, and if it is a failure, at least I won't have wasted too much money on nice fabric. This can be my practice run. The fabric is so fun! It is definitely a summery Christmas look. I can't wait to see what you do with it.

I asked Gill to host this month because I didn't know if I'd be in and out. I'm trying to set my intention and claim my peace this month. I don't know how it will go, but it's good to have a small break.
I am working on my Christmas tree skirt. I have all my ornaments done for my Christmas tree and now I'm working on the skirt and then I will get the angel done. I'm excited about my crochet Christmas tree this year.

sueg, both your projects are lovely but the shawl is outstanding. Fabulous. jeremysgirl, I've made a number of Jane Crowfoot's kits including the Fruit Garden and feel very comfortable with her patterns. They are well written. I saw a pattern by someone else that was very eye-catching but the feedback from other crafters was not great with regard to the way the pattern was written, non standard terms, errors etc. It's a skill in itself to write a good clear, concise pattern. AussieMeg, looking forward to reading how you get on with your fabrics, they look so fun.

I know a lot here are feeling very down today and some are crafting specifically to raise their spirits and help their mental health. If you feel able to share, please do. I started this blanket www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/coastal-haven-blanket last month and this is my second attempt at it because I’m not happy with how it lies. It looks like it’s lying like the designer’s, who said there is no turning at the corners and it’s just to be made in the round. To my mind that makes it a bit bumpy and I’m still not sure if I’ll carry on with it or use this yarn for a waffle stitch blanket. It’s got a rustic feel that I like and is the sort of thing I could drape over a chair or let the cats lie on so I might decide to finish it. It doesn’t take much thought and is nice just for picking up for a few rows as and when. I checked it for what I know is an obvious mistake before putting the photo up. I can’t see it now but I bet I will on a bigger screen.

GIRLS! After years of admiring all of your gorgeous crafty creations here, I'm going to try and make something myself. I have been looking for a dress to wear on Christmas Day, but I haven't been able to find the style I want in a pattern I like. So I thought I'd try making one. Now keep in mind, I haven't made myself a garment since before my son was born, and he turned 20 in September. So this could be disastrous! This is the fabric I bought: The dress is an off-the-shoulder dress, with elastic around the top and waist, and no zips or button holes - very simple! I plan to use the yellow fabric for the dress, because it's nice and summery. I couldn't resist the navy koala fabric as well - it's sparkly! - but there wasn't enough of it on the roll to make the dress, so I will need to find something else to make with it. Wish me luck! I LOVE THIS so much! When I was living in Perth I was super excited to find some Aussie Christmas stamps. I have no use for them any more but I still love them. This fabric is just adorable. Have you got enough of the koala stuff to make a table runner? Or a Christmas tree skirt? Or place mats and matching napkins? That would be easy-peasy.

I finished these fingerless mitts yesterday. They have been languishing in my WIP pile for ages, so I decided to tackle them first. Next up - finishing cardigans for my granddaughters, that will be a part of their Christmas presents. That purple yarn is gorgeous. Where did you get it?

I made something...woohoo! I felt the urge to get the sewing machine out and just make something simple, it's a plant pot basket made with Aldi fabric.

I am slowly renovating this doll house. I had to move the front door because it wasn't centered and it was driving me crazy. Now that I got that done, I started the exterior paint and roofing. Windows are going on this weekend as well. I thought I liked the wallpaper I picked out for the front room but it's really dark so I'm back trying to find something else. I really want to get it finished by the end of November because I bought Christmas decor for it - lol.

I'm going to post a couple photos of a scarf that I'm making. It's a beginner's project. Will you knitters please help me if you see mistakes and perhaps help me figure out what I did wrong? TIA.
ETA: I don't know how to just post the actual photo on the board. I apologize for the huge photos.

I can't help you with mistakes on the scarf, but I can help with posting a photo using Post Images! Once you put your photo into Post Images, you'll get a screen that looks like the picture below. Then you just copy the Direct Link (highlighted in blue), open the Photo attachment button (the landscape button) and past it in Image URL. Click Insert Image and you should have a photo in your post. Hope this helps!

What makes you think you’ve done something wrong? Whereabouts do you think it’s wrong? I wonder if you’ve lost a stitch or two? I can’t see very well on my phone and my eyes are misbehaving so I’m not focussing well. Am I correct in saying the piece has 5 stitches on either side with a central panel of 20 stitches so a total of 30 stitches? How many do you have on the needle right now? I can’t see the full width at the needles so it might well be that you have 30 still. What is the pattern of the central panel? How many rows knit (garter stitch) and how many rows alternate knit and purl (stocking stitch)? It’s really late here and I’ll come back in the morning to see your response or if someone else has replied.

quiltz, your quilt is really pretty. gillyp, thank you. It's 27 stitches per row. The first 5 rows were knitted. Then it is stockinette, 5 knit stitches, 17 purl and 5 knit. Then Garter. I hope I've answered your question properly. I really appreciate your help. Sleep well.

I’ve been making good progress this week on a cardigan for Miss Sophia - she liked a cardigan of mine when we were home at Easter, especially the colour, so I am making this in the same yarn With a bit of luck, I’ll get the back finished this afternoon, then the sleeves are knit by picking up stitches around the armhole and working down. RedSquirrelUK - my mitts are knit from Sunshine Yarns Soft Sock, which a friend in the US sent me in exchange for some Wollmeise back in 2011! The colour is Berry, which is perfect for it.

scrapmaven I wonder if you started the stockinette a stitch too early (or too late depending on the side) here? It looks as if there are only 3 or 4 stitches in the border on the left hand side before you started the central panel of 17 so the right hand border is 6 stitches instead of 5. I could be wrong, I have a lot of admiration for people who can find errors in yarn work on a screen, I’m not normally one of them! The colours in your quilt are fabulous quiltz. Miss Sophia will be thrilled with her cardigan sueg. The yoke is so pretty.

Thank you so much gillyp. You spotted a problem. I'll find a video to learn hot fix it. Can you fix mistakes that far down?

Thank you so much gillyp . You spotted a problem. I'll find a video to learn hot fix it. Can you fix mistakes that far down? You can, by putting the stitches before the problem on one needle then letting the problem stitch drop down and sort of unravel to where it was ok in the previous rows if that makes sense. You'll need a third needle or cable needle or crochet hook to pick up that dropped stitch and work it into the rows that it dropped by, in the correct way so it looks as if it was done correctly in the first place. Watching a video is a great idea as it's difficult to explain without showing you. I'm leaving for work now and not likely to be back before tomorrow but if you can't find a video, give me a shout and I'll look for you. If you are a beginner you might find it easier to just gently unravel all your rows (either stitch by stitch or pulling the rows out) until you reach the problem one then carry on.

It's going to be cute! Currently working on my Cafe du Monde needlepoint ornament, not quite halfway done. Meanwhile I've purchased the Camellia Red Beans, Hurricane Evacuation sign and Bananas Foster canvases. Those will be for 2025. For the hurricane one, I plan to embroider on the back side to commemorate our Hurricane Rita evacuation that took 21 hrs from here to my parents' (normally a 3 hour drive).

scrapmaven, here are a couple of videos that might be of some use. This first one I feel is applicable to what you want to do yet this second one explains more of what's going on, I feel. If they are no help, maybe you have a local wool shop and someone can show you in person. jeremysgirl you are very sweet and I, too, am looking forward to seeing your tree skirt.
