You could have set your clock by my schedule from my very first cycle as a teen. My entire life I was very predictable. When I went through menopause I would go 2-3 months w/o a period. I took a pg test at one point and saw a positive, freaked out and went to the gyn. It was a broken test. For about a year they got heavier when they would come and I actually had cramps for the first time in decades. Then blammo. When they stopped that was it.
I would never do HRT I know 2 people who developed breast cancer due to HRT. It's too risky. I use acupuncture and it works beautifully. One treatment and my hot flashes would stop for 3 months.

One of our popular TV presenters has done a lot about peri and menopause. If you search Davina McCall on YouTube you might find a few of her presentations. This is one. She is all about taking the taboo away from discussing it. I admit I've not watched her programmes or read her articles/books, I was a lucky one where it was if a switch was flicked and no symptoms, everything stopped. I always say it was my pay back after 40 years of hell. I have her "Menopausing" book and it's really good--I'm always loaning it out to friends!
