T promises to run roughshod over an array of rights we’ve enjoyed for years, and to erase what progress we’ve made toward human rights issues—great or small. But I find myself wondering about why is it that T voters seem to lack a moral and ethical center. Weren’t most people taught that lying, cheating and stealing are wrong because they harm others? Weren’t they taught not to associate with that sort of person? I imagine if the children of T voters (but maybe I’m delusional) came home repeating some of the things T does, they’d be receive consequences. Has the number of ethically and morally bankrupt people grown? Am I hopelessly moored in the 20th C, a relic of the golly gee willikers era? I realize people are taking advantage of an array of defense mechanisms, (denial being a popular one) so why are T voters so willing to disregard reality? I accept people aren’t perfect, but what causes them to start to ignore the little voice telling them that impulse they’re having is wrong? Sorry for the tl;dr post—just sorta putting ruminations out there. I haven’t even touched on how my entire family are T supporters and I’m like I am. I mean, my father was instrumental in my moral and ethical training, so WTF happened there?

He stoked their fear of others. Deep deep hatred will last another 100+ years.. TFG feeds it well! He has allowed them say it outloud! *** The other day some fool candidate told a Native American candidate to 'go back to where they came from' Far-right Idaho state Sen. Dan Foreman got into a heated argument with a Native American candidate during a forum this week that culminated with him shouting at her to "go back to where you came from," according to a report. Trish Carter-Goodheart, a member of the Nez Perce tribe and candidate for House Seat A, said in a statement that the incident occurred at a "meet the candidates" gathering Tuesday in the northern Idaho town of Kendrick, where voters posed questions to Senate and House candidates in the area. The dispute began when Foreman categorically proclaimed discrimination did not exist in Idaho, reported Boise State Public Radio on Thursday. *** “I highlighted our weak hate crime laws and mentioned the presence of the Aryan Nations in northern Idaho as undeniable evidence of this reality.” In response to Carter-Goodheart's words at the forum, according to the report, Foreman "stood up and angrily interjected, using an expletive to criticize what he cast as the liberal bent of the response." He then told her she should "go back to where you came from," Carter-Goodheart said, before storming away.Carter-Goodheart's Republican candidate, incumbent Rep. Lori McCann, was among the attendees who corroborated the incident. Foreman, a retired Air Force veteran and former law enforcement officer, has previously landed in the news for unruly behavior. In a viral video in 2017 taken from police body camera footage at the Latah County Fair, he shouted at a constituent, calling him a "son of a b----" and telling him to "go to hell." www.rawstory.com/dan-foreman/

Religion. Fear.
When the same rhetoric of hate disguised as fear is spewed by Trump, MAGA, AND in church under the viel of God/Christianity, they believe it to be true.
Organized religion has been the cause of a lot of hurt in our world.

A lot of it is ignorance. These people lack critical thinking skills and want instant gratification.
One pea has already said "I don't believe he will do what he says he's going to do". Another pea seems to have no clue that her cancer diagnosis means she has a pre-existing condition and doesn't comprehend she is going to lose her ACA coverage.
And they are so dumb, they think the "economy" is going to magically "get fixed" on 1/20/25.
But the majority of it is that they are racist. They don't give two shits about rounding up all the brown people "to send them back where they came from".
The pandemic already showed us that most of the people in this country are self centered, uncaring people that only think of themselves.
Tuesday night just reaffirmed what I think about the American people.

I mean I have a trans adult kid who is worried she is going to lose her rights and a lesbian adult kid who is worried about losing the ability to love and parent but how about the price of those eggs (which are not going to go down anyway). I had a friend who is undocumented tell me about their suicide attempt. I try so hard to have empathy for people but it is hard to have empathy for people who do not have empathy.

They focus on one thing only be it the murderous gangs coming in droves through our open border or the baby killing woman who they saved us from. The deny that Trumps attack on healthcare protections, the pre existing/ insurance debates that took place in Congress, the one Mc Cain fought against, actually happened. Several people have told me it did not happen. Their view is so built on lies and misconception and the lack of desire to do some research that they have become zealots or cult members. And yes, lack of empathy.

Those who run around and quote their Bible have they understood what they have read if they even read it.. just start with the ten commandments. Do they follow them and expect their leaders to follow them? Then just move on to basic christian values which they fail to follow.

What I learned from the pandemic is that I cannot make people care about other people. Some people work for a greater good. A society that improves the lives of most people. Others focus on "what's in it for them". Add in that so many believe they are one great idea or lottery ticket from becoming the next millionaire that they are focussed on protecting what they might have one day. More people are selfish than altruistic. When push comes to shove, some of us are givers and some of us are takers. IME, more takers are motivated by power than givers. Power corrupts.

Because folks would rather be seen as good than to actually do the work to be better people. The rest have parents who are first cousins.
Overall I think there is a lot of mediocrity and the desire to blame someone else for those shortcomings. And it never changes because society just keeps being okay with the same type of leadership.

I overheard a woman say the Democratic party used to be for poor people, but now it's the Republican party that cares about poor people. My head nearly exploded.
I think many people listened to his messages of fear.

I kind of figured out after a discussion with my friend who thinks DJT is the greatest person in the world. She ONLY watches Fox News. When I mentioned some things he has said & done (such as his talk about the giant faucet on a wall in Canada, or the speaker calling Puerto Rico a floating island of garbage), she said that she had not heard about those things AT ALL & doubted it was true. Of course she never heard bad stuff about DJT because she only watches Fox, who doesn’t show the real DJT, so she has no clue how bad he really is. She says he’s honest & has integrity. She just lives in a praise DJT bubble

Agree. A private school, voucher-voting MAGA here in Texas isn't suffering from the economy. They just want the rest of us to help pay to keep their kids out of schools that educate "undesirables." And those who are suffering for economic reasons seem unable to understand the scope of the problem, how much a president can actually do about it, what role the free market has played in prices rising, and how much worse it will be when Trump imposes tariffs and deports a big chunk of our workforce. Or they do understand, and they're just using economic woes as an excuse to vote for the guy who hates the people they hate.

The oil billionaires running the show here in Texas won't put up with that for a second. I hope no one voted for Trump believing that would happen.

I live in a very red state. The people openly gleeful for mass deportations is sickening. It’s heard while in public. The Facebook posts 🤮. (There is a small population of immigrants in a neighboring county.) Posts gleeful to be rid of people simply because they are not born in this country. Spouting how it is going to open up jobs.
“Real Americans” are not going to want to chase chickens for 50 hours a week. Not with the same compensation the immigrants accept.
The hate and disdain is unfathomable.
The difference is people who believe in the patriarchy/heirachy and the people who believe in egalitarianism.

I live in a rural red state. The way I see things is less students are going to college/vocational school after HS. This is unfortunate because they don't ever leave their backyards and meet "different people" and see a little bit of somewhere new. Also, I feel way too many people get their news from podcasts and Tik Tok (both opinion based in nature) as well as FOX which is truly not news. These low informed/educated young people grow up and never evolve their perception of the world. They can't see how the world is connected. Rural America survives on government programs aka socialism to everyone else, but consistently votes against their own best interests. My favorite saying is "You can't fix stupid!" It applies to a lot of my world.

She just lives in a praise DJT bubble This is what I posted on another thread: I read an interesting column this morning that talked about the huge impact right-wing media has on the people who watch and listen to Fox, Newsmax, I Heart Radio, Sinclair stations, etc. Many of the things that were most offensive in this election cycle, or were the biggest lies, weren’t started by Trump and Vance but were picked up by them when they got mentioned (people eating pets, for example) in some way by the right-wing media and then became huge memes and clips that got tons of exposure. And, these right-wing media producers are owned by deep-pocket individuals and groups that of course will benefit from tax breaks and business policies that are targeted to the wealthy and their companies. The column talked about how so many people only get their news from these sources, and the sources of course normalized Trump, and presented him as having to constantly fight against those who wanted to take him down, and how he was doing this all for "us." They didn’t present him as the insurrection-inciting, law-breaking, cruel, bigoted, racist, Fascist and wanna-be dictator. And the young people who were new to elections don’t have the memories and information that would make them see him in a different light.

Remember those stupid “Biden Did This!” stickers that MAGA was putting on gas pumps a couple years ago? Not gonna lie, I kind of want to make up a bunch of “Trump Did This!” stickers for when EVERYTHING goes to shit. Except I can’t stand looking at his orange face.

I thought that was kind of funny.

Another example of lack of critical thinking. Well a lot of Latino voters have just entered the fuck around and find out phase. This Latina has zero sympathy for you when you voted for this.
