I very much enjoy Christmas music. Every year I treat myself to a new album (CD) or two. Some of my favorite Christmas albums are by artists that I don't even listen to their regular music but their Christmas albums are amazing. I've looked at the offerings for this Christmas and other than maybe the new one by Dan & Shay (which after listening on Spotify, I'm lukewarm on), I'm not seeing anything releasing for this Christmas that I've just gotta have. It is also possible I've missed a new release too so don't be afraid to suggest something that is new for this year.
So, I'm curious, what is your favorite Christmas album from the past and are you looking forward to something new this Christmas?

I have several that I really love, but if I could only listen to one album all season long, the very first answer that came to mind was the 1978 "Christmas Portrait" album by the Carpenters.

Ben Folds released one a few weeks ago. I haven't heard it yet but I'm looking forward to it.
Clay Akin is releasing one at the end of November.
My favorites are always from Pentatonix. King and Country Christmas live is a solid one as well.

I can remember as a kid always listening to Gene Autry's Christmas record when I was at my grandparents. Eventually they told me to take it home with me. I still have that album with all my writing on it as a child. For me Christmas season hasn't started until I hear Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer by Gene Autry.

My 1970 something Andy Williams album followed closely by an album called a Very Merry Christmas put out by Grants store with various artists that is also from the middle 1970's

I know exactly what you mean here. I'm a liquid mess when I hear a good rendition of O Holy Night. My favorites are by Pavarotti and Josh Groban.

I adore all the classics like White Christmas, I’ll Be Home For Christmas etc so Michael Bublé’s Christmas is right up there, but my single favourite album is We Three Kings by The Roches. I love their harmonies, the twist they give certain songs (Deck The Halls has a calypso feel), and that there are 24 tracks on the album! 😁

My all time sentimental favorite album is Christmas With Conniff. Not a huge fan of contemporary Christmas songs/singers, but I don’t mind Buble, Straight No Chaser and some Pentatonix.

I have a 5-disc cd changer for christmas album purposes mostly, and even though we have streaming, we try to buy a new album each year to add to the collection.
Other favs are Polar Express soundtrack, Bing Crosby, and Indina Menzel. Kelly Clarkson has a good Christmas album too.
Others from streaming Ingrid Michaelson and Kacey Musgraves.

For current music, I prefer to listen to a wide range of artists/songs so I don't have a specific favorite album. From my childhood though, it wasn't Christmas until Christmas With The Chipmunks was playing on the stereo! When we went through my parents things, that was the only LP that I kept. My sisters thought I'd lost my mind!

Christmas Eve with Johnny Mathis. Reminds me of my childhood. We had this spinning cd tower full of cds and one section was only Christmas albums and it never felt like Christmas until that one was put on.
I am looking forward to Sabrina Carpenter’s Netflix holiday special this year.

That was another one that I had on cassette tape, and later on into adulthood my brother gave me that album on CD! 🤣

Oh my gosh, one of my younger siblings was given "A Chipmunk Christmas" in 1981, and they played that thing endlessly. I imagine if I had the record on now, I could still recite most of it along with the record, right down to the last line on side 1 where it told you that it was time to flip the record over, LOL!

Came back to add - I can also tell you what my mom's favorite Christmas albums were because they were how we knew it was Christmas. She had a Dolly Parton Christmas album that she loved and also a Kenny Rogers one. I should see if they're on Spotify. My husband actually inherited my dad's record collection because no one else wanted it, but I don't think the Christmas albums were with it.

I listen to the same albums each year. Elvis Presley Christmas he was my mom's favorite I grew up on listening to him each year. It wouldn't be Christmas without him. Alan Jackson Christmas album. Martina McBride Christmas and if you ever get a chance to attend her Christmas concerts it is so worth it. My most recent favorite is Rob Thomas Christmas album.

I don't usually buy season specific albums but I do mixes on Spotify or listen to the holiday stations on Sirius. I did save Leslie Odom Jr.'s album Simply Christmas. It is a few years old but I remember it being so soothing.

I tend to listen to the classic singers from the 40s and 50s like Nat King Cole, but I also love the album A Coventry Carol by Loreena McKennitt. It’s got a sort of Celtic/Middle Ages sensibility. And of course, Vince Guaraldi’s soundtrack to A Charlie Brown Christmas. If I’m feeling goofy, I like Asleep at the Wheel's Lone Star Christmas Night with my perennial favorite, Christmas In Jail.
