This is getting too crazy. Today, immigration officers raided MacArthur Park in LA. They sent men in tactical gear and on freaking horses into the park. There is a summer camp, and the kids were on the soccer fields. They were quickly rushed into the buildings.
I feel like Trump is just itching for the people to rebel so he can let the goons loose on the people and declare martial law. And does Trump really know what is going on or is this all being orchestrated by Miller? And why aren’t the National Guard being sent to help out in Texas? I really worry about what is going to happen in LA, especially now that the ICE budget is huge.

HCR’s newsletter this morning stated that Fox News was interspersed with the agents. I would bet they are filming more propaganda and ragebait for their viewers.

Plan? He has plans now?
I have no idea what is being done but I can guarantee he is not behind any of it. It is the few Machiavellians behind him.

He wants CA to have its downfall. He probably thinks that rounding up people who have every right to be here will cause our economy to shut down and make us beg him for help.
I really would love for Newsom to withhold federal funding and keep it in CA.
Just give Trump a big middle finger

IDK. I'm super mad on behalf of California that Trump immediately rolled out the "you'll get whatever you need" card for Texas this week after basically telling California to go F themselves after the fires.
Unrelated, but yesterday ICE raided an auto repair shop in a suburb of Houston and kidnapped the man running the shop, so clearly Trump isn't going to spare us the hit our economy will take as we lose more and more workers.

I learned something already this morning. I knew that it was legal for border patrol to have checkpoints within 100 miles of the border. I just assumed that meant the Mexico or Canada border. We do have checkpoints surrounding San Diego. Well, apparently the ocean is considered a border! They can set up checkpoints all along the coast of the US! And 100 miles goes pretty far inland. Someone else said international airports are also considered to be “borders”. Not sure about that one. But, this means that border patrol can set up checkpoints all throughout Los Angeles and any other coastal city.

Whatever it is, it involves ICE, manhandling and bullying. Tom Homan, animated talking ham, and head of the Gestapo, has threatened to do the same thing to NY. But, alas, he is a sad animated talking ham, because his notoriety has led to his wife living elsewhere. Thoughts and prayers, Hammy.

What gets me really upset is that many people have no empathy for the way these people are being treated. All they see is “illegal” and “Trump” and so it is all good. 🤮

That made my blood boil with rage. Tow the line, kiss my ass and I'll grant your state money. It's disgusting and enraging. I'm seeing the TikToks from Texans and you can see the rage from other Californians. So much resentment between the two states and this is exactly what he wants. IDK who is going to be Gov after Newsome's term is over in 2026 but I pray its someone with the same balls/ovaries that Newsome has had. He's a fing badass and I love him.

I don't think that's completely true... www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2025-03-04/eaton-palisades-fire-environmental-protection-agency-cleanupwww.gov.ca.gov/2025/03/26/assistance-continues-to-flow-to-families-and-businesses-as-federal-aid-for-la-fires-tops-2-billion/ ICE raided an auto repair shop in a suburb of Houston and kidnapped the man running the shopI couldn't find an article related to that from yesterday but I have to assume that the man was either undocumented or let his work/visitor/student visa run out. Either way, he should have done things the right/legal way, especially if he's been here for a while, and then he wouldn't have any problem staying here.

All they see is “illegal” and “Trump” and so it is all good. 🤮 And they falsely believe that only people who crossed the border illegally are getting swept up. We see case after case where ICE is kidnapping people who came in legally through the CBP One app, have never missed an immigration appointment, and are simply awaiting an outcome in their case.

They have appointments and are being swept up when they show up for these appointments. They are going through the legal channels and yet for some, that is not good enough. Or, I've read about a couple of cases where the judge gave the person a pardon of sorts and allowed them to stay as long as they check-in. These people were picked up when showing up for their appointments. They were allowed by a judge to stay in the country!! WTF?!

I forget what it's called, a stay of removal or something like that. My particular favorite is the people who remained in Mexico until called for their CBP interview, and then came at the express invitation of our government, only to be arrested at the interview and sent to CECOT on the basis of a tattoo. People seriously have their heads in the sand about this.

We are in the middle of evil. This will get much worse before it, hopefully, gets better. I'm sorry but walking across the boarder without permission - against the law - merits deportation back to your own country. Not being snatched off the street and sent to Sudan and Alligator Ally in Florida.
To those of you who voted for this, how do you sleep at night?

I saw a map that showed this snd it really includes a lot of our population since so many people live near the coast. So a good portion of the population can be considered on the border.

Elon and Trump probably both have dirt on each other. Both of them have leverage - Elon with donations and Trump with contracts. I would love to see them take each other down. I hate both of them with a passion. Both are narcissistic, egotistical, money and power grabbing jackasses only looking out for their own interests. Unfortunately, a fight that takes both of them down or reduces their power just doesn't seem likely.
Part of me hopes that Elon and Trump fight each other and in the process, destroy the Republican Party. Regrettably, the current Republican Party needs to be destroyed before they destroy the country. Maybe, out of the ashes a new Republican Party can emerge true to conservative ideas like small government.
In the past, Republican in fighting hasn't been very effective in terms of reshaping the party. The Republicans who speak out like Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger get pushed out.

This story resonated with me. I think a big part of the reason why Trump has been able to capitalize on immigration is that Americans are clueless. They think people should just immigrate here legally and if they didn't arrive here through legal channels, then they get what they deserve. Fox and right wing media have perfected mis and disinformation. Most people have no idea how difficult it is to go through legal channels to become a citizen, the amount of money that it requires, time, challenges etc. Trump, Miller, Homan and right wing media have further contributed to this with dehumanization, racism and xenophobia. The story is about a guy who voted for Trump in 2024 and his wife who came here without documentation who is now being forced to leave. FAFO. Every Trump supporter seems to think what they voted for will never impact them directly. www.nytimes.com/2025/07/08/us/trump-illegal-immigration-raids-arkansas.html Like many people he knew, he assumed that becoming legal in America was easy.
“How hard can it be?” he said, describing the thinking, which he said had long been common, even among his lawyer friends who don’t know this area of law.
He eventually learned how hard it really was. Paths to legal residence for illegal immigrants are extremely limited. Even those with a privileged connection — such as a spouse or an adult child who is a citizen — often have to leave the country first and wait years.
“Every single person wants to do it the legal way if there is one,” Mr. Cash said. But for a vast majority of people he meets with, “there isn’t one.”

Trump did in fact threaten to withhold aid for CA after the wildfires. His comments are true to his brand - he expects governors to kiss his a&s. When they don't or even worse, when they stand up to him, he threatens their state. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/18/us/trump-california-disaster-aid-newsom.htmlTrump Suggests He May Withhold California Disaster Aid Over His Feud With Newsom President Trump and Gov. Gavin Newsom have traded sharp insults in recent days as California awaits billions of dollars in federal wildfire relief. President Trump suggested on Wednesday that his feud with Gov. Gavin Newsom of California over immigration protests in Los Angeles could affect whether he approves disaster funding for the deadly wildfires that swept Southern California in January.
Speaking to reporters outside the White House, Mr. Trump was asked if “recent dust-ups” with Mr. Newsom, a Democrat, would affect California’s request for $40 billion in wildfire aid.
“Yeah, maybe,” Mr. Trump said, adding later, “It could impact. You know, hatred is never a good thing in politics. When you don’t like somebody, you don’t respect somebody, it’s harder for that person to get money if you’re on top.”Jan 2025 also wasn't the first time Trump threatened CA or refused to send aid. And it won't be the last. In 2020, he initially refused to send aid to CA. www.politico.com/news/2024/10/03/helene-trump-politics-natural-disaster-00182419Trump refused to give California wildfire aid until told how many people there voted for him, ex-aide says Former White House advisers said Trump hesitated as president to provide disaster aid to California because of the state's Democratic leanings.www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/trump-administration-refuses-california-wildfire-disaster-aid-n1243723FEMA's press secretary, Lizzie Litzow, said in a statement Friday before Trump reversed the decision that the agency determined "the early September fires were not of such severity and magnitude to exceed the combined capabilities of the state, affected local governments, voluntary agencies and other responding federal agencies."After criticizing Biden for how he handled relief efforts in NC, Trump denied aid that Biden had approved. And NC is a mostly red state, they have not voted for a Democrat in a presidential election since 2008. They have a Republican statehouse with a super majority. Just imagine what Trump could do to a blue state like CA that he perceives as an enemy. abcnews.go.com/Politics/fema-denies-north-carolina-request-100-cost-sharing/story?id=122270931Trump administration denies North Carolina request for Hurricane Helene relief at level Biden approvedThe Category 4 storm devastated western North Carolina with record flooding.CA isn't the only state where Trump has withheld funding. After a battle with the governor of Maine, Trump withheld Congressional approved federal education funding. www.npr.org/2025/05/19/nx-s1-5398545/trump-schools-maine-education-funding the rurality of his district, MSAD 54, coupled with high poverty, has made school funding "a tremendous challenge," Moody says.
Because of that, his schools rely heavily on federal dollars: Seventy-four of the district's staff positions are funded by federal grants, and federal money helps pay for free school meals, special education, mental health services and a robust after-school program, among other things
Moody says federal funds help educate "our most needy students. They're the backbone of our [academic] intervention system. They help students get on pace."
But as Maine schools find themselves in the middle of a political battle with the Trump administration, that federal support is at risk. President Trump threatened to cut federal funding for K-12 education in Maine, which amounts to hundreds of millions of dollars a year, after Gov. Janet Mills refused to follow an executive order banning transgender athletes from school sports.
In a now famous exchange, Trump told Mills, "you're not going to get any federal funding at all" if her state refused to follow the administration's interpretation of sex-discrimination laws. Mills' response: "See you in court."

They also are blocking legal ways to do things. People that are following the rules and jumping through the hoops and going to their court hearings and such and then grabbed and held, deported or worse - people that are following the legal process. People that had visas that all of a sudden are getting them revoked . So sad. Obviously no one wants criminals snd gang members here but that’s not who is getting them revoked brunt of this.

I really would love for Newsom to withhold federal funding and keep it in CA. Just give Trump a big middle finger I hate when people say this. I mean I wish we could I wish there was a mechanism. But, How would any governor do that? We as individuals (or couples ) each DIRECTLY pay the IRS individually straight into the federal treasury, it doesn’t go thru the state at all. How would a Governor of any state ‘keep’ that from the federal government? And trust me rich people can skip paying taxes and play legal games with the IRS for years but none of us peons can. Because if you know a way for me to not pay the IRS, pay that $ to my state and I don’t go to jail or get fined by the IRS I’m all in. Let me in on the secret. Best I could find was lowering my withholding from my paycheck to pay next April, but even that has limits before you get a penalty.
