Everything else in my life I can purge. I have no issue.
Scrapbook supplies I guess I'm a hoarder. I've been thru my supplies a few times. And I went thru every sheet of paper I got rid of 10 sheets out of 3-4 feet of paper. (I have a love affair with dies, inks, stamps, embellishments.) I love my stuff. I really do. I have slowed down on buying of certain things. But there is nothing I bought that I really have that moment of seriously what was I thinking of. I don't know. Do I think having less would make me more productive? Maybe. But have a really good memory so I know what I have. I have things organized pretty well too so I know where they are.
Is it just me am I the only one who feels they don't need to purge. Also I'm not into the right now trendy. I like my stuff no matter if it is in style or not.

I've purged just twice since 1996 ( when I started being scrappy). They were good purges. I participated in an LSS yard sale thing once, and another time donated to a pea who ran an after school program for teens. But I no longer buy as much as I used to. I stick to purchases that will go with pictures I know are coming up.
That being said, I have a hard time letting go of all my ribbon, even though I can't remember the last time I used it.

Just about the only things I've ever purged are things I bought very early on -- circa the year 2000. I'm constantly shocked when someone refers to something that's a year old as "old." If I've used all of what I consider the useful parts of a collection, I will throw the leftovers away.
i probably should clear out a few things. There are a couple of things I bought online that I didn't like in real life. My room feels just a little crowded to me right now but my solution to that is to scrap more and buy less. I still like just about everything I've bought.
i always start with the photo and try to pick paper that has the same mood and complements the colors. When I've started with paper, I'm rarely happy with the outcome. I could never be a kit scrapper, though I love what other people do with their kits.
Everything I have is organized and I can find my stuff. I like being surrounded by my scrapbooking stuff. My grandkids refer to my scrapbook room as "your fun room."
i I can understand how some people can feel overwhelmed by too much stuff.

I'm not a very good purger. I always say to myself "maybe I can use this someday". I have gotten rid of some very old things that I know I absolutely won't use but overall I've hung onto my ever growing stash. In fact, just last night I came across 3 Paper Pizzazz books of paper. I flipped thru them and thought EW how glad I was I didn't use it on my pages. However, my next thought was maybe I can use bits and pieces somehow. Back on the shelf they went knowing I likely won't get around to using them but just in case....sigh.

Yeah, that would be me. I added it to my list of confessions on the other thread. Not one of my stong suits. LovMelrose, I have one of those, too! A friend of mine was generous enough to give me her stuff when she was quitting scrapping (blasphemous, I know) and along w/her great rolling tote came some not-so-great paper. The Paper Pizazz pad that I have is the one where the pages are all adorned w/items (fish, pumpkins, etc.) made from flowers. I cannot begin to explain the hideousness of these papers!!! I keep it because on the front cover are sample pages and one is of a bride laying across the hood of an antique car a la Tawny Kitaen. It has become a running joke to bring 'Tawny' on our weekend crops, so I keep it around. Will never, under any circumstances, use ANY of those papers!

most of what I've purged was handmedowns or leftovers. My former roommate gave me a ton of her stuff when she purged before moving out and while I've used a lot of it - some it just didn't work for me and I've weeded it out over time. I've also gotten stuff from others who are 'cleaning out' or 'downsizing' and I'm learning to be selective about what I take/keep.
Leftovers though - when I've used all the stickers or die cuts or letters from a package that I'll use, I pop the leftovers in a big ziploc bag. Same with the occasional paper from a collection or pad that just doesn't speak to me. I have an acquaintance who is happy to get the leftovers to use with her children and Scouts.
But overall - I'm a frugal scrapper who tries to only buy what'll get used and after nearly 13 years of scrapping, I've a pretty good idea of my style so I don't have many mistake purchases anymore.
And like you, I have no problem using old supplies...even decade+ old, if they work for what I'm doing.

I don't purge as much as share with my two nieces.......if it's something I have used most of or think I won't use I put it in the niece pile. Then when they come we "shop" my stuff together and first I give them the stack of stuff and then let them pick out and take whatever catches their eye from my stash....love sharing and it keeps my stash under control. It's nice for them as they can play without a huge expense.......win win!!!!!

I'm not a purger because I don't buy a lot. I buy what I need and that's it. If I find I have things I cannot use, I give them away or sell them immediately. I don't have a lot of room so I dont' want to gather "extra stuff" ya know? I see people with mountains of embellishments and sometimes wish i had a stash like that, but then I remember I wouldn't use it all and then I'd have to figure out how to store it LOL

I used to purge because our LSS had garage sales and I would always buy a table. I mostly sold items that were from grab bag/mystery boxes. Since the store has closed, I no longer have an easy way to sell items. I never had a ton of stuff to sell compared to other scrap sellers. My friend and did two garage sales on our own (out of her garage) and the first one was a hit, the second one was a bust.
I love my stuff and even though I have a lot of it, I remember what I have. I love new product but I also mix it in with really old product.

I am a frequent purger of everything except tools. I still have all my QK and a Cricut and carts I haven't touched since getting a Portrait. Since I no longer have an LSS my purges go to Goodwill.

I don't purge too much. The only real supply I've purged a lot of over the years is patterned papers. If it's just no longer liked, or themes I won't use again (baby, kids, vacation, etc). My mom used to buy me papers, and she would get me like 4 sheets of each pattern... And a lot of it. Those eventually got purged. Another time was a club I belonged to that also sent 3-4 sheets of each. After using those papers for what seemed like years, I got tired of that style. Those I have to my MIL, so they went to a good cause. The rest of my supplier have pretty much been manageable. I use them... Then buy more, and try not to over buy. Sure, I have a ton of things, but I feel it's a manageable amount, for lots of great work to do. It feels like a studio amount, where I can come up with great projects with what I have. It all fits in my storage, and I don't have much overflow

My kids LOVE my scrap supplies so I put aside anything that I don't plan to use for them. My DD often uses some paper that I bought in the early 2000s so I keep it around to keep her away from my newer supplies!

I don't purge. I set aside some things for school projects sometimes, but I keep all my stuff. I am a chronic re-organizer, though, if that counts.

I'm a better buyer than purger so I have to purge. I don't love doing it, but find I really don't miss the outdated stuff.

I have purged. I did that 2x. I did get rid of a lot of stuff. I have no intention to do this again. I like my stuff. It is MY stuff and it is all mine. I am happy with it all.
(All the stuff that got purged was eventually replaced don't worry. I didn't leave any gaps in the stash...)

Paper is about the only thing I ever get rid of and I usually just use it a scratch paper instead of outright tossing it. I've taken to throwing all the "I might use this one day" embellishments into a little container on my desk and I rifle through that first when I'm looking for a little something to add to the lo I'm working on. I've managed to use up lots of bits that would probably still be sitting in my stash if I hadn't done this.

I don't purge a ton, or purge just because things are old, but I do get rid of things I don't ever use. I have too much scrapbooking stuff, and too much stuff generally, to hold on to things I don't use or want just in case.

I have gone through and got rid of quite a bit before we moved, but most of what I got rid of was stuff that I got at trade shows as samples or in classes when I had my storefront years ago. However, I have hung onto an embarrassingly large hoard stash of things that I still like most of. It doesn't matter to me if I bought it ten days ago or ten years ago, if I thought it was cute and had an idea in mind when I bought it, I'd still use it. LOL, a good chunk of the photos I want to scrap match the timeframe when that stuff was bought, so can we just pretend that when I scrap my old photos with my old stuff that I did those pages when I should have done them a decade ago? Nobody will be the wiser if I never tell! Now that my studio space is finally coming together, it will be really, really interesting to see what's actually IN all those boxes of stuff I packed away over three years ago. I have wood mounted stamps that haven't seen the light of day in seriously 15 years, and some of them really do just need to go.

I did a purge several years back, after I had been scrapping for more than ten years. By that time, I totally felt that my style and taste were pretty much set and I wasn't falling into too many fads or must-haves. Even if everybody else was doing something, if it didn't truly fit my style, I resisted the impulse on must-have popular items.
I found the key to success in managing my inventory (hoarded stash just sounds so harsh) is by not buying things that I am unlikely to use or something that is dramatically outside of my style and taste. Throw in the fact that a half dozen LSS in the area have closed (we're now down to ONE LSS) and I just have to feel the papers before I buy, it limits the amount of stuff I need to purge. Less coming in means less going out.

I use the white back sides of single-sided old papers for printing free printables (like labels or tags), or for punching shapes that I can mist or ink, or for covering my work surface when I'm getting messy with inks and paints. It makes me feel like I didn't completely waste my money on paper that I'll probably never use on a layout. Just some ideas.

I did a big purge last (?) year and it was good for me... When I first started buying specifically scrapbook papers and tools I'd buy everything I saw because they were so scarce here... I bought stuff I knew I didn't love just because it was the only option... I got rid of all that stuff and am happier for it...
Other than that, I don't purge... I have always been involved in some sort of art so most things have multiple uses for me... Inks can be used as paints, any paper can be gessoed, and that sort of thing... I also make scale models so things that I don't use in scrapbooking any more, like chipboard, gets put in with the model stuff...

I don't purge. I have parted with a few things at the LSS garage sale, but they were primarily supplies I had been given that I didn't like, and maybe a few older kits from a club I was a member of 10 years ago. I never know what I'm going to use.

Nope, not a purger of supplies here. I like all my stuff and know I will use the vast majority of it. I have given away a few outdated stickers to nieces and several teacher friends, but I don't consider that really purging (it wasn't very much).

Count me in as a never purger! I started scrapping in 1996 and I have never purged. I have slowed down my buying, though. I have always liked to make embellishments using my supplies so I don't have tons of packs of embellishments. I also do art journaling and have always shared my supplies with my 3 dd's (now in their 20's). I love all the markers, colored pencils, stamps, inks, paints, sprays, dies, embossing folders and of course paper, paper and more paper. I don't have a problem with space, but it's time for another re-organization. It's also amazing how some of that older patterned paper can be rejuvenated with ink, paint, sprays, stencils etc.

I am exactly the same way. We have had all our scrapbook stores close, despite being in a very large metro area, and we have only one stamp store and one paper arts store left. I rarely find anything good at the big box stores. There is no way I am purging, since I may end up with no chance to fill in gaps in my stash later.

I went to a benefit crop this Saturday. I go every three months They sell page kits made from other people's donations. Last July, I gave them at least 12 paper packs that I had doubles of or knew I would not use. I saw lots of kits that used these papers yesterday. Knowing that my discarded paper was helping a charity for abused women/children was pretty awesome.

I have a mike's. A small stamp store (so limited) and limited when its open. I order online, but its not the same. And now with the Canadian Dollar, I won't be buying much. I do go to Marshall's, Homesense and Winners and find some stuff.

One more reason I don't purge:
I did some purging once. I decided to get rid of some hideously ugly papers that were from paper stacks. In every stack there were some good papers, and some I hated. I bought the stacks for the sake of the papers I liked, figuring the price was so cheap, I could afford to just pitch the ugly ones. I took my cast offs to our scrapbook night. Two of the gals took ALL of those hideous papers. They were new to scrapbooking and didn't have a stash, but even so, I'll admit that I privately questioned their taste in papers at the time. When we met to scrapbook again the next month, they brought cards they had made with those papers. They had cut and layered them in a way that you couldn't tell the pattern on the papers was ugly. You only saw a splash of color. Those cards were incredibly cute! Those new scrappers taught me to look at my supplies in a new way.
