CaringBridge is such a great site. Your loved ones can get updates on your dh and you and coordinate help such as meals, rides for the kids, etc. It's a way to keep everyone in the loop and gain much needed support at the same time.

2/3 - Thank you all. Going to bed shortly but copy and pasting text I sent to family. Encouraged today. Very tired. Outpatient 10:30 am thurs for chemo treatment, immediately followed by hospital admission. He will be there over the weekend and prob discharged Monday. We r starting immediately working on nutrition to build immunity. between the two things they r determining, treatment is the same except possible addition of an extra drug. Dr was like a kid on Christmas morning when I gave him the packet from Virtua. TheY can run their own tests. They r going to go through it carefully tomorrow. He said what fred has is very rare. That's why we got this guy, rare is what he deals with. Fred was topic of conference discussion this am. *** This is an update to this thread: 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/15340/jan-update-op-on-mineAnd this one: 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/16504/friendThe verdict is in. My husband has stage 4 cancer. It is some kind of sarcoma, they will know for sure exactly what type within the next few days. They had a difficult time figuring out what it was because the way it presented was rare. We are now working with Penn Medicine in Philadelphia. Our doctor is the director of their sarcoma dept, director of the cancer hospital and one of the top in his specialty. The plan is for dh to go to Penn as inpatient receiving chemo for 4 days, then home for 3 weeks, inpatient 4 days, home 3 weeks and so on. He expects that after one cycle of chemo they will know if it's helping at all. If not, they ditch it and try the next. Dr believes he has had it for just 4 months, it is spreading rapidly. But he says the quicker is spreads the more susceptible it is to being destroyed. We didn't ask to join this club and really don't want to learn this new language. But here we are. I don't know what this next season is going to look like. But I believe in a big God and have seen evidence of his personal care of us. Thank you for your concern for me and mine.

Thanks for the update, the conference you mentioned is what we used to call Tumor Board. I used to work in Radiation Oncology, so I know some of the terms. Anyway, that is a good thing, as its pretty much a whole bunch of Dr's, nurses, and other personnel from Medical Onc, Radiation Onc, and Radiology. They discuss the case and present all the symptoms, tests and treatment plans, then the Dr's can offer up suggestions etc. It is also a great learning tool for the staff.
Again, I am hoping he has an easy go of things, and I am here if you need me.

I am so thrilled that you have such a great team of doctors that are willing to work together to find the best treatment for Fred.
You have been in my prayers all day on Tuesday and will continue to be.

Thurs at 10:30am will be time for prayer for your dh, that the chemo works perfectly and that the cancer cells are obliviated. I have a feeling a lot of people w/be praying for your dh. Thank you! You have no idea... our first appt the dr casually mentioned he would be attending the prayer breakfast this week (national day of prayer?) dh and I looked at each other, looked at him and said "wonderful!" For us personally, since we believe so strongly in a God who hears and answers prayer, it gave us such a peace. God you gave us a praying man! <3 Anyway we were prompted to request of our IRL friends and family to pray and/or fast on our behalf for the 24 hours before the appointment, that specifically that God would give the doctors a wisdom outside themselves to come up with the precise right treatment plan the first time - since he had given us the disclaimer that "if this doesn't work..." And I went on record with the doctor. Yesterday morning I pictured so many people, including those of you here who said you would pray for us, at the throne of God in one accord on our behalf. It was beautiful. I started crying from thankfulness.

Considering caring bridge. It's tiresome to keep everybody in the loop. It truly is the way to go..you post it once...people who sign up will get notification that there's an update.. Many friends use it. it will make your life so much easier...and jenjie It can also help friends set up meals if you need them. Proper nutrition through this is key. AND staying hydrated. Tell Fred not to be afraid to ask for anti-nausea meds too/.

Our friend and assistant pastor offered to be his accountability partner with eating. A lot of organic, no sugar, carbs etc. juicing. whatever Fred can't eat, he won't either. he and his wife, who is one of my BffS, came when we talked to someone about the food, and also came to the appt with us to make sure we asked everything we needed to and understood what was being said. After we left he drove us home and she went to the store and bought some stuff and made Fred a good healthy dinner - salmon, organic spinach and sweet potato. He didn't hate it. lol t's going to help him be proactive, instead of waiting for something to happen.

Jenjie - I'm sure so many people have said - what can I do to help - maintaining a caring bridge update site would be a great way for someone to help , You update one person and let them post the update and that can reach everyone!!
