I don't want to think about it since I've been scrapping for over 15 years!

I don't know and I don't care. I have always been a crafter, starting with sewing doll clothes at age 7, to now 50 years later still crafting. Sewing, painting, scrapping, card making, knitting, crochet, needle felting. And more. It is who I am. So I don't apologize. I just wish I had more time!!!!

Gosh, I wouldn't even know how to calculate that. For some years I have a record, a good and proper one, but I don't have one since I started in July '04. $10,000 would be a totally low-ball answer. I think I'd have to go with $20,000+ to get anywhere near it. That includes albums, kits, furniture, tools, paper, Copics, machines, everything that I've ever bought whether I still own it now or not. Yikes!
But then I consider how much DH has spent on camera equipment, photography trips, video games, consoles, target shooting supplies, guns, ammo.... We might be even in our hobbies, I just buy more often.

I would venture to guess at least $15,000 over the past 18+ years. I've purged twice and made some money back at a scrapping garage sale. But I just get so much joy out if that I don't think I could put an accurate value on my hobby.

Well, at $100 per month for 10 years, it would be about $12,000. I figure it's cheaper than therapy~! So very true! ;-)

Is it fair to say priceless? The first thing my son did when he got home from his dad's house this long weekend was look at my project table and check out a page I did on him this weekend. His whole face lights up which makes every penny worth it to me!

Count me as another who really doesn't want to know BUT would guess easily in the 25K range! I've been scrapping since 1996 so over 18 years of accumulation. One of the reasons I shop very little any more. But I come from a long line of seamstresses, crafters, quilters, etc. My mother, grandmother and great-grandmother taught me well!

More than 20K, less than 50K. That includes product, tools, machines, scrap room furniture and debt from when I sold a scrapbook store I co-owned. I may be low balling that top amount by a little, but like everyone else, I would rather not tally it up.

Some people spend money on cigarettes, lots of shoes or handbags or go to live professional sporting events. I spend it on fabric and scrap/craft supplies. I work full time, so I don't feel the least bit guilty about spending money. I need the creative outlet and it's a lot less than therapy (and less than DH has spent on his 3 racing bikes)

Zero on scrapping supplies. Thousands on Adobe software, Mac computers, printers, and scanners and ink through the years. Oh! And several external hard drives.

I have no idea really. I can take an estimate from beginning in 2009-current at probably $2000 total. But it's really just a guess.

With tools, machines, crops, organization, machines, camera, computer related stuff, consumables...I would say closer to $50-60k in 5-6 years.
I love my supplies, tools and space, but don't have a hoard of stuff that clutters.

Well, at $100 per month for 10 years, it would be about $12,000. I figure it's cheaper than therapy~! This just had me pea-ing!! Yeah- I was a consultant twice for CM- that alone- for the "business" was $400 a quarter- Now I might have sold 20 % of what I bought- but the rest I used. THEN the Conventions, travel, EASILY $400 at that whack... The crops I've attended paid and non-paid- - usually ended up costing me some $ cuz someone was selling or off-loading and I couldn't let my struggling pals just DUMP that precious gold! THEN The hardware- Cricut carts, and the Expression, mat, blades..... Not to mention printing extra and lots of pictures!- EASILY $50 a week....<SWOON> BUT ..the friendships (and therapists) I have found, the memories I've made AND preserved... PRICELESS!!! I'd spend double what I"ve spent for that!!

I was in to stamping and technique stuff first so I'm probably between $15,000 and $20,000 range. We're moving and trying to downsize things as the farm house is smaller. But I can't part with my goodies. They make me happy and I use them. Although I have been much more frugal this year and will continue until my paper stash depletes.

Is it a cop out to say a LOT? LOL! I've been a crafter since I was five years old and my mom first taught me how to sew a button onto fabric, and have cycled through so many different crafts over the years. If you're going to count sewing machines, computers, printers, software, diecutting machines and dies it could easily run into the tens of thousands. I've been scrapping since 1997. I had a rubber stamp store back then and I started bringing in the printed papers and diecuts to complement the stamps and stuff I was selling. After I closed the storefront in 2001, I moved the business online and have been selling predesigned page layout kits ever since. In spite of purging and selling off extra stuff, I still have way too much both for my business and my personal stash. For what it's worth, DH has spent way more money on his free time pursuits (fishing, hunting, ATVs, snowmobiles, the cabins) so at least he can't criticize!

I am getting sick just thinking about it. I have a room full of stuff including a Cricut with many cartridges, a Cameo with thousands of cut files and many sizzix alphabets. I usually scrap a lot during the summer, but this year I have no desire to. Just thinking about it all overwhelms me.

I'm so glad there's no real way of knowing how much I've spent! I don't regret it, however. I've scrapped in one form or another my whole life, and got serious about it in the 90's when it really broke out. It's a hobby I was born interested in, always searching through everyone's photos and scrapbooks even when I was very young.

It's hard to say...but not too much overall. This year I've spent at the most $40. I probably spend $50-100 on an average year. I've been scrapping for about 14 years. I spent more the first few years of my dd's life, that was my scrapping heyday. But nowhere near the high numbers most of you are mentioning.

I'm in the camp of 'I don't really want to know'. However, if we ever have to evacuate for a hurricane, I have a list of things that are coming with me! Good thing I don't have to worry about packing up kids or pets!

I refuse to even try to calculate it. Or think about it. Nope, not going there. Sitting on the bench with ya! My dh has his hobbies, and I don't want to know how much he spends! (golf, poker)

Less than I tell my other half, but more than I should!
In fairness - he has his hobbies, I have mine. No-one counts and everyone is happy.
The general saying among his hobby (airsoft) is that players worry that if they get hit by a bus, their girlfriend will sell their toys for what they 'said' they paid for them. I guess the same is true of scrapbooking!

I don't know, but feel much better after reading this thread! I think I have spent less than many of you and I thought I spent a lot. But I haven't spent much in the past 7 yrs. Our stores have closed, and the one we have doesn't carry my favorite lines anymore. I don't like to buy online, so I save a lot that way! But I haven't scrapbooked in so long! I really want to get back into it, and I can justify spending more. Or getting over my fear of buying online. My husband also has expensive hobbies, so when we can afford it, we both are able to spend money on our hobbies.
