Maybe about two years. I think that is the general norm. I'm just under 5'2". I was about 4'11" when I got it first.

I got mine at 10.5. I didn't stop growing till about a year after high school. I was 5'9 my freshman year and 5'11 my senior year. Got another inch after graduation. I don't think the two year rule is that accurate.

I have no clue if I kept growing or not, but I definitely had a growth burst in my bust and my hips when I was 27/28, a good 15 years after starting my period. I went from an A cup to a C cup.

I got mine at 12. I was just over 5 feet at graduation and gained another inch shortly after. I think most girls are done growing between 16 and 18 with all are done by 20. It's boys that can have another spurt at 21.

I got my period during the summer between 5th and 6th grade, I believe (I had just turned 11). I don't know how tall I was then but do know that at the end of 6th grade I was 4' 10.5". I'm. I only grew an inch more than that.
ETA that my mom is 5'6" and my dad was about 5'10". Some of my grandparents were shorter (though not as short as I am) but none of my aunts, uncles or cousins are short. Actually, I think the shortest of my female cousins on either side is probably 5'9". I'm not really sure why I ended up so short. I have twin brothers and they are 5'11".

I was very very young like 4th/5th grade young. I grew probably 6 inches after that. I know I grew 1 1/2 inches between 18 and 19.

Did anyone have a huge growth spurt before their period? I remember getting stretch marks in 4th and 5th grade because my height shot up quickly. Also, I'm impressed so many peas know their heights when they started their periods! I don't know my daughter's either. I just know I ended up at 5'5" in 7th or 8th grade.

I got mine around 11, and I still grew another 6 or 7 inches after that. Heck, I grew another inch the year I was 27. I am 5'10 now. My daughter is 10 this year so it's probably coming soon. I am not ready. This year has made me all verklempt. My baby just isn't little anymore.

I've always been on the petite side. I got my period when I was 12 and stopped growing about the same time. This ^^^ I ended up being just short of 5' 2".

I got my period when I was 9. I grew my last inch when I was 24. Obviously, I don't think menstruation is a growth indicator.

Hi everyone! If any of the writers from the original post are still around, I was wondering how much taller your daughters got? They should all be done growing by now. My daughter got her period at 10 years 11 months. She is 12.9 years old and 160 cm(5'3''). Both me and my husband are tall(5'7'' and 6' tall, respectively). If it is true that girls are Done growing 2 years after their period, she is going to end up significantly shorter than both of us. Is that really possible for a healthy girl? DD2 had just turned 13 when the original thread started and hadn't even gotten her period yet, but was already 5'4". I feel like she got it a few months later. She's now 16 and is at least 5'9" but probably 5'10". We're hoping she's done growing because she's now the tallest in the family--the same height as her dad and slightly taller than her brother! That being said I wouldn't worry too much about your daughter being shorter. It's possible one of you have some "short genes" hiding in your family. That appears what happened with us. Both my EX and myself aren't super tall, but my mom should have been 6' if she didn't have scoliosis and she had some uncles that were over 6'. Save

My daughter grew an inch last year and she's had her period for 2 years. So, may still be growing!

Thank you for all your replies. I suppose we will have to wait and see if she gets any taller. Actually, her father and I don't have a problem with her height but she made a big deal of it this summer. We do have 2 short grandparents so it is possible she takes after them. In the meantime, I will try to make her understand that she is just fine regardless of her height. On the plus side, she has been exercising more, going to bed earlier and making much better food choices by herself in order to reach her genetic potential

I got my period right before my 12th birthday. At 13 I was 5'6. I kept growing up until I was a freshman in college. I stopped just short of 5'10. So I grew at least 5 inches AFTER my period. I think a lot of kids don't follow the "you only grow two years after your period" business. I think it has a lot more to do with genes than your period. My oldest daughter is 12 and 5'4 and no period yet.
