S/o how long did you keep growing after you got your period?

The doctor just told my DD that girls typically stop growing within 2 yrs after getting their first period. Your DD seems young still to be done growing.

I grew another 6 inches after getting my period when I was 11 and ended up close to 6 ft tall.

ETA - growing that much so fast (in less than a year) is painful.  I remember waking in the night screaming from the leg pain and afraid I'd wake with my legs different lengths since I'd only feel the pains on one side at a time.  My nephew has had "growing pains" for years.  He's 6 ft 8inches now and at age 20 and is praying that he is done growing!

MY poor DD has been in period hell this week. She is 15 and the Dr said since she has stopped growing she should be getting a period. Other than spotting a couple of times she has not had a real period yet and no spotting since last Oct. Had blood work done and everything was normal so referred her to a gyn. After 10 days on progesterone she now has had heavy bleeding all week.

Every day she was telling me how disgusting this is and how I am mean because I am forcing her to have a period. I keep telling her that we need to figure out what is going on with her body in case she wants to have children one day. She hates the feeling everytime she moves that she is going to leak everywhere. I have told her tampons are the way to go so 3 days in she asked me to take her to the store to get some. I give her credit to having figured out how to use them during her first period. She has been much happier the last couple of days.

So all this was a long winded way of saying that yes the Dr says you should have your period shortly before you stop growing and if you have stopped growing and no period yet then something needs to be done.
