I'm washing my newer car more often than the one I traded in.
Do you hold off if you think weather is going to muck it up right away?
The spring we've had, I'd never wash my car if I waited for a clear forecast.
Or do you just swing into the car wash because it's on your way?
Do you get out and squirt it yourself, or go through the automatic? The automatics really vary as far as effectiveness in our town.
ETA: How much do you pay? $8 is my max. Usually I go for the $7 option.

I usually wash my own car when I need it to look clean. It's parked in a dusty lot at work so washing it often makes zero sense to me. With the horrible drought we Californians are experiencing I'm going to take it to the car wash where the water is recycled.

I was my car way more often in the summer than any other season. I always go to a drive through one. My car is cuter when it's clean!!

About once a month at Sainsbury's costs a tenner and they do a good job.

With the way the drought is hurting California I have decided that a dusty car is ok with me this summer. The plants need the water more than I need a clean car.

I try and wash it once a week at a drive through car wash. once a month, I have a guy come to the office to do a more thorough cleaning---wash/windows/vacuum/tire dressing.

I probably hand wash my SUV about once every three months, except in the summer. Once a month I will run it through the car wash, but since we have had so much rain here the past 3 months it doesn't get washed nearly that much.

Dh runs both through the car wash fairly often. Me I don't care that much because if I did I'd wash mine by hand and it would take at least an hour.

I don't. I think the last time I washed it was last summer when dh complained about a big ol glob of bird poop on the passenger side door for a few weeks. I thought the kids might like to go through a car wash so we went to one that also has a drive through pet wash! They were not impressed. I doubt I even wash it once each year.

I definitely wash my new car more than I did the one I traded in. My traded in car was silver and hid dirt better. My new car is "Ruby Red" a metallic red color. I LOVE it, but it's a bear to keep clean. My husband bought me a 'monthly' car wash club/package thing. I have a sticker on my front windshield and I can go up to once a day. I didn't get the wax part, but it washes my car nicely and does the wheels/tires as well...

I hand wash it myself. I won't run it thru a car wash. That would make me crazy. I try to wash it once a week depending on the weather. I trade every two years so I don't know if I would say I wash a car more often because it's new.

Well, car washing is a bad subject in this house. for years my husband said I couldn't take my car through the car wash. It wasn't good on it, I had to do it by hand. We lived in an area that we couldn't do it at our house so I had to take it to his shop and do it there. I hated doing it there. He was selling high end car detailing supplies at car shows and in his shop so he wanted me to use that. and I hate washing cars. I always took my other cars through the car wash. then a few times his truck would come home clean and I would make the comment that it must have been a slow day at the shop because he had time to clean the truck. he said oh no we were busy and he took it through the car wash. after that I was Pi**ed and took mine through the car wash. so any way. We don't talk about washing cars here.
We do how ever take them through when ever they need it. it is $6 for the basic wash no wax. we still use his super high quality wax when needed.
now that my daughter sold her car and started driving mine and I started driving husbands Jeep and he is driving the company truck I never have to take the jeep through because husband does it when he drives the jeep when the company truck is being used by other people. The jeep is in our garage most of the time since I don't drive it eevery day because why waste the gas if you don't have to go any where.

Before kids, I kept my car - inside and outside - very clean. Now that I kids....I try to keep the inside clean, but it feels like an uphill battle! The outside - not very often. I think I washed my car in Feb. I do love it when my car is nice and clean though. It's $7 for a quick wash. Worth it!

I love to take my dogs with me when I can (and weather permitting) so I leave the dog hair and window smooshes to the professionals. It's about $20-25 and I go every few months. Trying to clean all the interior windows and vacuum all that dog hair is a bargain at that price (to me).
I've taken mine to a do-it-yourself car wash on occasion, but I mostly go to the places that vacuum and clean the windows for you.

Since I got my Mini a year ago, I wash it usually once a week. Sometimes I do it myself (we have an automatic place that has free vacuums with your wash and I do that) or sometimes I take it to the hand wash place and let them clean it inside and out for $20.
I was much less meticulous about my old car.

Not gonna wash it today because of the rain but yes, since buying my Jeep Patriot Oscar Mike edition last year, I've washed it much more. Especially in winter to get the road salt off of it. I usually go thru the Delta Sonic because buying a wash saves 5 cents/gal off gas when you buy a wash and if you buy the Super Kiss Plus wash, you can wash it two more times free in a two week span I even paid Delta Sonic $27 to do an interior cleaning to get the salt stains out of it after winter. They did a great job! I'll definitely do it again!

I take my car through the carwash more during the winter. After we get snow, the salts build up (this winter it was wicked!). I pay $10 to include undercarriage treatment to clean the salts. I try to do it after it rains so that some of the salt is washed off the streets as well.
Wash it much much less during the other seasons.

I'm a freak about a clean car (inside and out)! I run mine through at least once a week (at $14 a pop, but with 4 day rain guarantee) and at least once a month it goes to get the full detail at about $40. Told you, I'm a freak!

I go through a Car wash that charges $18 for the Gold package for a SUV. I get my SUV washed more in the winter to get the salt off the bottom and sides.

I guess I'm a little more obsessive, I go to the hand wash place about once every two weeks (more when it's love bug season, ICK!) It's about $15-$20 with tip. I do have a white car, so that might make a difference.

Let's see, I have had my car for 2 years and five months. The number of times it has been washed, once. That was the day I picked it up from the dealer. It rains a lot so the car may stay clean for a day.

It would make me crazy because I would be looking for places they missed. I don't think they clean as well as a hand wash, inside or out. I guess I'm too picky.
That's nice that you get a rain guarantee.

I wash all the time because we have a monthly pass for $24. If I'm driving by and there isn't a line, I swing in. I drive by frequently because it is between my house and the high school my children attend.

That's nice that you get a rain guarantee. Gotcha! I notice, after someone hand waxes, that I always see a spot where the wax film didn't get buffed off. And the drive through wash certainly doesn't get spot, especially bugs and road dust in the tail lights.

It gets washed in the winter after the snow due to the road salt. Also after a trip down the shore due to the salt air and highway bugs stuck to the hood.

Mine is new, and it gets washed every week if there is no rain in the immediate forecast. It's black, and any dust or spots on it make me nuts. The paint job also sparkles in the sunshine when clean, so we call it Edward . I also use our local automatic, and pay about $8. It does a good job.
